Sorry, girl. Keep sane! This shit blows, but I do think he was right; if he's dealing with that kind of thing, he's not in a place to date. I didn't find my partner until years after my dad was cancer-free just because I couldn't think about anything else.

I got the expansion for 6 and it really brings the game to a new level. I knocked France down to about 1/4 of their former glory, they stagnated for a while, then their remaining four cities all rebelled one after another (the new loyalty system is great - first they rise up and become a free city, and will either stay independent or revolt again to join another nation) until their civilization ceased to exist on its own. It was pretty funny. It flows much better in general now that it did without Rise & Fall. This is also the first game in the series where the late game didn't bore me at all.

lol I nuked somebody and an emergency was declared against me. The attackers usually have a goal like "take the enemy capital within 30 turns" and the target just needs to hang onto it. War reparations are paid to whoever comes out on top, as well as other bonuses.

Agh, I wish I had the money to purchase it. I think I finally got the last form I need to file my taxes. Hoping for a refund similar to last year because I'm low on savings...

Randi, I know this isn't exactly what you want to hear right now, but if he's not able or willing to get over himself, his issues, and his baggage to be with you you're better off with him having been straightforward about it early on rather than stringing you along for days weeks and months. It would only have gotten worse for the both of you as he buckled under his own issues down the line. I've been on both sides of this sort of thing and it only gets worse with the sheer force of momentum.

When I was in his position, I'd strung a girl on for 4 years on and off and it was totally unfair to her. When I was on your end, the girl would take off to Florida without so much as an explanation or goodbye everytime things got too real for her and then she'd pop pack up like nothing ever happened and expect me to drop everything and I did for the first two years of that dance.

Neither situation had a happy resolution for anyone involved. I know it doesn't seem like it now, but the takeaway here is that it's for the better that he was straight up about where he's at before things got too deep for him to handle.

I know. I know we only dated for a short while, but I trust him when he said he thought about it and came to a similar conclusion, and didn't want to hurt me. He didn't want to burden me down the line, and in response I told him I didn't want to burden him with my resulting self-esteem issues taking a blow in front of him. It's nobody's fault, and we both felt a connection--probably because we openly communicated from the start.

I just feel so tired in general.

He isn't lying. He found his father passed out in a diabetic coma and he almost died as a result (had to amputate his leg). His father used to be a smoker; they found black spots all over his left lung and he has to see a pulmonary specialist.

On top of caring for his father, he realized he wasn't as ready to take on dating seriously as he thought.
