Settlement building is not only the main reason I bought Fallout 4, but also where I find most of the game's replay value. But I can certainly recognize its flaws and understand why it's divisive. And I also wouldn't waste time with it at this point without Place Anywhere and other essential workshop mods.

Couldn't say for sure because I don't use Steam, but it seems like every company nowadays wants to keep their services in-house. Probably the same reason you have to go through Beth.net and purchase funds exclusively through them to buy CC items, instead of putting those up on the XBL marketplace or whatever.

Hill-hopping in a mock San Francisco was the thing I looked forward to the most leading up to SA's release. San Fierro's exclusion in V was also one of my bigger letdowns, even if it was expected.

Just thought I'd add some fuel to the Fallout 76 hate-fire, since this may not be common knowledge. Likely due to server overload brought on by 76, the process for downloading mods and even Creation Club items for Skyrim SE and Fallout 4 has been broken for over two weeks now. Attempting to download a mod will give you an 'operation could not be completed' message. Occasionally you can successfully DL a mod if you go through a series of home remedies or just get lucky, but it's highly un reliable at best; updating an existing mod or dl'ing anything over 20-30 mb is a very bad idea. There's other site issues as well, like modders not being able to upload any pics of their mods. It's assumed that getting this fixed will take a major backseat to stabilizing 76, for however long that will take.

Inb4 a CEman has a stroke trying to decide between taking an 'lol Bethesda' stance or an 'lol console mods' stance.

I went back and bought the first SR after playing my fill of 2, but never played it once I learned that you couldn't make a female protag. There was something uniquely special and rewarding having my femBoss in SR2 stomp and swagger around in cutscenes that were clearly geared towards a male protag, but not exclusively limited to one.

And as others have said, 2 had an oddly excellent blend of wackiness and deadly serious plot, so much so that compared to its contemporary GTA 4, SR felt more GTA than GTA. Once I found out how too-wacky 3 and 4 were, I didn't have much interest in them.

I picked it for a paladin-style heavy in Morrowind and still loathed it to death. Having reliable magic replenishment limited exclusively to potions was just intolerable, and it didn't give me any worthwhile survival advantage against magic-users compared to my second non-atronach character; by the time enemies started using spells that couldn't easily be sidestepped, I was already OP'ed enough to mop the floor with them anyway.

Yeah...don't let anyone talk you into the Atronach sign / ability in an ES game. I made that mistake fairly recently with Morrowind and had to ditch the playthough and start over (and I should have known better, having already played Oblivion and Skyrim extensively).

I loved it. It wasn't very brain-teasing when the vast majority of the 3D era puzzles revolved around the item you just found in the dungeon. Granted you only had 4-5 core abilities in BotW, but having them all from the outset paired with the open-world stumble-upon design at least gave you the chance to not immediately know which ability would get you through, and pause to noodle that out yourself.

There was something very rewarding about figuring out your average shrine puzzle that the series hadn't evoked in me for a long time. Though in this regard Link Between Worlds does get much credit for being kind of a beta run for flipping the formula and making all your items / abilities available early on.

Skyrim has the better mechanics and worldspace to fart around in, Oblivion has overall better quests. So it depends on exactly how much time you want to spend in a Betheda game.

The problem I have with it is that when world leaders are sitting around with their fingers on the launch button, a single mysterious psychic event in one city might actually give them enough pause to stop and fall in line with Ozy's plan. Dozens of cities across the globe suddenly exploding will just spur them to empty their silos long before oh-so-conveniently stopping to check for Dr. Manhattan's 'energy signature.'

And to be perfectly honest, apart from the excellent opening credits montage, seeing Watchmen on the big screen felt redundant at best, so much so that by the halfway point of the movie I was really only interested in seeing the alien.
