The funniest thing about the outrage against the movie for me was "OMG, the title crawl referenced a Fortnite event WTF IS WRONG WITH THEM"

Like...okay? It doesn't actually name Fortnite for one thing, and second, while I agree it's kind of a big plot development to just drop on the title crawl...it's not a big deal. Some people's hatred for Fortnite must be incredibly strong...for some reason. I don't get the hatred for that game either.

I think the issue now is that it doesn't seem very much like a home console Pokemon...just something you'd expect on the 3DS just with higher resolution. It doesn't feel ambitious enough for being the first mainline console Pokemon, but it's still alright, is what I'm getting at.

The game to me seemed like it was trying to be more of a spiritual successor to xenosaga or xenogears rather then another xenoblade game.

The issue is that its focus was on an entirely open world with a custom character as the main player character, instead of having an in-depth story. So it's not even really like Xenogears or saga, it's definitely its own thing.

I'll be honest I saw and tried a little bit of Xenoblade X and stylistically it was not like the first game at all and I didn't like it, they completely missed what I liked about the first game.

Then Xenoblade 2 came out and I was even more crestfallen. Where the hell was the amazing voice acting, the Ivalice-level characters and likability? Even the silliest character, the Nopons, were more endearing than what I saw in Xenoblade 2. I was legit disappointed at how it shared almost nothing from 1. How do you go from the likes of Shulk and Dunban to... that?

Yeah, it's fair. Xenoblade 2 is overall weaker than the first game but it's really addicting to play when the combat gets good. I do hope the next Xenoblade (X2 or 3) is better.

Xenoblade 1 is a fantastic game. I can't say enough good things about it, what a magnificent game.

But it's really only a spiritual successor to the Xeno name and not in the way you'd think. I still remember the original title for the game back when it was in development as Monado: Beginning of the World which admittedly is kind of a spoiler, considering.

True, but I think he might be trying again considering what Xenoblade 2 brought to the series' lore.

Like, it's kinda telling when the only positive thing that the prequels apparently have over the sequels is that they told a consistent story across all three of its movies. Never mind the other facets that actually make the prequels bad: mediocre acting, terrible and cringeworthy scriptwriting, overabundance of CG that doesn't hold up at all, characters that aren't likable at all (barring Obi-wan), battle choreography that falls apart as soon as you look at it, marketing them as a kid's franchise when most of the plot is boring political shit...no, forget all that, the prequels are good because the sequel trilogy was unfocused in its storytelling!

I don't even agree with the saying that the prequel trilogy was good because good things spawned from it. No, the Clone Wars cartoon, the Pod Racing game, any other stuff that spawned from PTs ideas were in spite of the prequels, not because of them. The only thing I'll agree with is that the soundtrack was fucking fantastic. But that's on John Williams. I'd much sooner just listen to the soundtrack than watch the movies if I get a hankering to listen to that music again, because it's great to listen to out-of-context.

Sometimes something so bad comes out it makes you realize that what was hated wasn't as bad as you now know it could've been.

In my eyes the sequel trilogy is nowhere near this bad to warrant this behavior though.

Try Bayonetta 1. 2 seems designed for people who enjoyed the first game and wanted more over-the-top boss fights. Bayo 1 is over-the-top at points too, but it's got a gameplay more similar to DMC where you're fighting a lot of mooks, platforming, and exploring.

It's a small genre from the looks of it but I always enjoy these. Playing Simulacra 2 and it's pretty creepy. Pretty cheesy acting a lot of times though.

Pretty much. I see that and I'm like, "well no shit everybody thinks that game sucks, it doesn't get better until 30 hours in!"

Like, for me, I love Xenoblade 2 and think the gameplay is phenomenal, but it doesn't start that way and doesn't actually get to that level until like near the end-game. So if someone's not enjoying it, I'm not gonna tell them to slog through it until the end. That's unreasonable.

Honestly, despite the hype any game gets, if you aren't interested after a few hours you should totally drop it. Fuck anyone who tells you otherwise and to "stick to it because it gets better, trust me." A few hours is plenty of time for a game to hook you, even for an RPG.
