maude was also a spin off of all in the family

there was also a spin off about archie bunkers daughter simply titled "gloria" that lasted a single season

Yeah I know, but this was back before 2000. We didn't have a computer or internet at the time, because it's just a passing fad and we'll never need it. Both shows also before my time, so I had to make due with it being on tv land/nick at nite.

That's when I learned about spin offs and things being in the same universe as other shows. I'm sure I saw it before, but nothing clicked like that. "wait... they're neighbors... but they live in an... oh"

Huh, I never knew about this until a bit ago, since I stumbled across hellachopper again which raised the question of safety. Turns out one of the key reasons old CC battlebots ended on season 5, is because of an unaired episode. Another cause is probably due to the weird direction they were going.

To avoid making anyone track it down, someone managed to dig this from the depths.

It's a fairly anti-climatic fight for the most part, however there's one key thing of note. Nightmare loses a weapon tooth and breached the ceiling of the box, getting DQ'd from advancing and causing concerns of safety.

I always wondered if it actually happened, now I know.

Anyways, I see according to the guide episode 9 is 3 hours? Oh gawd... *bottles up anticipation if true*

- It's possible someone posted/mentioned it already, but I can't go back and look due to the purge monster and my memory is starting to feel like it might have been. Sorry if it was already mentioned.

It was oddly comfortable at the time, I guess it's just due to the shape of the shoulder buttons. The z button was super awkward as hell to press, and combined with the shape of the triggers it was even worse. This is probably my biggest negative about it... that damn z button.

The other problem was trying to remember which was y and x in the weird layout. It didn't help I had the ps2 and xbox at the time as well, so jumping between the 3 meant the gamecube controller never fully imprinted in terms of muscle memory.

Compared to the N64 controller it was a masterpiece.

Super Mario Bros 3 - NES - I remember finding 1 to be a bit scary in comparison for some reason at the time. I guess it was the archaic visuals. Which is strange, seeing as I played Donkey Kong on Atari 2600 prior or around the time.

Pokemon Red - GB color

Sonic 2? - Genesis - I never owned a genesis or sega console, but did play my cousins'. If you want one on my own console it'd be Sonic adventure 2 on GCN

Ugh...

While poking around I re-stumbled across this footage of a battlebot that was DQ'd for being deemed too unsafe. I've seen it before, but is a great example for someone who wants to know what kind of limits are allowed in building a design since it was asked if 'anything goes' so long as it fits within the rules. This bot fell within the rules.

It's been a while, but if I remember correctly the reasons were that it was spinning at an incredibly dangerous speed. While spinning it had very little control of itself and there was too high of a risk that if it hit something one of the arms would go flying off at said incredible speed potentially breaking the box. If it lost an arm it would be off balance and it already had self control issues when by itself. The fact it burned out one of its motors was just a reliability issue and not a problem, the rest of it was too risky.

There's no telling what chaos would have occured if another bot were to make contact.

I don't know if we'll ever see it actually compete, but most likely not in that form.

If you drink enough of it in a short span, yes. I know it screws with me so I have to limit myself. No more than 2-3 a day. But he was downing like 12-20 because it was so good and even said he was having so much runs.

It seems like such a natural instinct I legit cant comprehend that theres non-disabled human adults out there who dont know how to swim. No offense...

From my own perspective it's something to do with coordination and forcing your body to stay calm. If you can't do the whole head turn breathe part it becomes difficult really fast. This takes some practice and some just can't seem to do it. I personally haven't been in a pool for a very long time and never really practiced. Could probably do it if I tried, but I'm not seeking a pool... it has dead wasp and leaves in it. ):

The other is panic of sorts, some just shut down or can't control themselves. That part is a bit harder, as it's psychological.

Those are the only 2 excuses I can think of. Psychological barrier or lack of coordination.

Okay, that makes sense. Is 250 the weight limit or does it go higher?

It's not in this series and I don't even know if it's still a thing elsewhere. However, there was a super heavyweight class that's 340. It fell out of popularity due to a certain design becoming the auto win and because it's just so damn heavy/expensive. Meanwhile 220 is still popular. It does go down to a tiny size such as 1 ounce with various ones between. In BB it's only 250 to keep it simple/unique, old BB had 60/120/220/340.

Anyways, I'm glad to see deep six for once. However, it's so psychotically unstable even toned down and with supports... it'll be really interesting regardless.

There's a reason why some never even made it to america, because who needs bumpers and emission restrictions.

Republicans: LA and China have bad smog! Terrible places

California: puts in standards to lower air emissions in its state

Republicans: No stoppppp

It wouldn't do much to lower air emissions. The cars with higher fuel economy doesn't reduce emissions that much. Plus new cars that get 50 mpg are a lot more expensive than new cars that get 35 mpg, so less people will buy these cars and just stick with older, less safe, less efficient cars.

Ah, if that's the case then 50 is a bit optimistic. 40 would be more attainable.

Also I don't know why, but I was just reminded of the guy who would daily an F-750* pick-up. Spent 500+ in gas every week. Didn't even haul anything, just used it to commute and everything else a FIAT 500 could do... simply because he could.

When 1 was still newish I had a damaged tv (the culprit is still yet to be determined) which had the top half being a weird green/red and a pink triangle in the bottom right.

Either way it made stuff extra trippy and difficult to navigate. If there was a color puzzle or something forget it. That's why 1 was one of the worst experiences until I found a copy of it years later and this time on an actual non-ruined CRT.

After the harrowing that was SH 2 and 3, 1 was kinda disappointing. Two reasons being the massive amounts of walking and puzzle overload piled on near the end.

I still remember seeing it in magazines or experiencing the first part up to the school. It was awful (scary) at the time. Also recently was thinking about how massive the outdoor parts of 1/2 were and how you could literally be there for hours trying to figure out what the hell you're supposed to do until just happening upon it.

4's where I couldn't take it no more and never really progressed.

One thing I absolutely loved about it at the time, was how randomly chaotics the online GTA races were. Not the race ones where you can't get out of the car, but the one where you can kill and steal while racing.
Combine that with the physics and such, it resulted in moments.

It might also have helped that it was prior to party chat, so you had so many vocal insults... which is kind of a blemish I suppose.

Anyways, times square figure 8 with max laps and players was absolute chaos. Shame you got more money(xp) for killing than racing, so it turned it into a deathmatch.

I kinda miss those races/moments.

Two players would just set up a blockade across the bridges and blow up cars, forcing you to either gun your way through and get a car on the other side, or else hit up all the checkpoints then reverse, go on a detour to get to the other side involving crossing the river elsewhere, then returning and trying to get out of there as fast as possible.

Yeah, that was one of the negatives about it. Hated when that happened, but the races without such a chokepoint were at least entertaining.

The other downside is when people ran off to grab super cars because they gotta win for that 1000.

Sly doctors, very sly.

If I remember right it also lead to the invention of the vibrator, so they weren't needed for that role anymore. That's right, the vibrator was originally for medical purposes.

I don't know if the video was a bunch of bollocks, but it did seem to add up after a bit.

Blacksmith is junk and did no damage because it has no appreciable weapon, it shouldn't have won that fight against Sawblaze. Come on guys. Jamison Go needs to adjust, though, increasing the weight of the weapon without altering the bot isn't a good idea.

One problem with sawblaze using that heavier weapon is taking weight off the front. I don't know if they just didn't fully test it before letting them tweak power/driving, but the shift of balance means it torque wheelies way too much defeating the use of the scoop. Seeing as the saw arm pivots it doesn't exactly counter the rotation very well either. As for the weapon itself, it's actually not too bad of a design/theory when it works, ripped gouges into blacksmith at least once or twice, seperating armor plates. Definitely needs more adjustments if he wants to use it, because it's much too easy to flip itself over.

It'd just be a locomotive/engine, with the forward direction being the leading end and the ass being the trailing end. Alternatively you could call it head/tail, but it's not a proper train due to being alone.

It'd be like calling those trucks that have the special pizza cutter wheels a train when by itself. If it's a combo power unit then one would be leading and the other trailing locomotive/engine. Shortening it to train is fine though.

Short but sweet:

Just note if your bot is piss weak or a total joke, you're going to get carded with Tombstone, easy.

To be fair, they were one of the reserve bots of which there were 4, think it's because BETA couldn't compete that season as they had trouble getting parts flown over. Even though the bot was already there, it just didn't have spares or something preventing them from competing. So we could have had BETA for 2 seasons instead of just the one we got.

They also aren't that terrible in some of their other fights elsewhere. They just made a very questionable choice in rushing in and going sideways giving a clean attack. At that point they should have just rammed and hoped the upward swing worked to upset and toss. Only chance they really had.

The only reason the weak bots get carded against tombstone is due to the inverse seeding method. Tombstone is almost always 1, thus it fights 16 or 48(depends on which bracket it is), which is the very opposite end and thus the weakest based on whatever parameters. 2 fights 15/47, 3v14/46, etc. This current season airing hasn't yet reached the seeding part, but I'm expecting tombstone to be 1 and fight 16, so whoever slips in... like bombshell last year.

The first 1-2 seasons they had a carbon fiber chassis, so based on that you can tell it's brittle. They've also been knocked out easily. Which is why I was feeling concerned for its health.

The fact that fight went the way it did just... stunned me.
