| masterpug53 07/09/21 11:04:22 AM #147 | I will admit that, while I liked the bit with the various Lokis turning on each other, I was kind of hoping that the episode would be devoted to a subplot where our Loki (or 2012 Loki, or whatever you want to call the main character of this show) ran for 'president' of all the Loki variants. I kept seeing that still image of President Loki in all the promo ads leading up to the show, and for most of the show I had no idea how said image would actually fit in to the overall plot; then after last week's teaser it suddenly clicked and I was like 'ah cool, now it makes sense, President Loki incoming!' But eh, I keep forgetting that there's only six episodes total, and an election subplot would have taken way too much time. Thanos copter got a chuckle out of me, even if all the other easter eggs no-doubt went over my head due to me not being a comic reader (I only know about Thanos copter due to memes). And I'm glad they didn't save Mobius' return for some last-second reveal / rescue; the more screentime he gets, the better. Classic Loki turned out to be great; never would have guessed that what I assumed to be a jokey throwback character would turn out to be one of the highlights of the show. I didn't even recognize that it was Richard E. Grant until about halfway through the episode. I confess that even though the man's been in acting as long as I've been alive, I never really noticed him until *shudders* Rise of Skywalker, and I distinctly remember thinking to myself 'give this man some good material and he'd kill it.' Well, they did, and he did. Darmik posted... lol I'm pretty sure I see people complain about filler episodes or 'didn't push the plot enough' for every single TV series that isn't a comedy these days. Yeah, that does grind my gears after awhile. I mean, the D+ shows are meant to be B-material spinoffs, and I've always treated them as such. The pandemic screwing up the movie release schedule has tricked people into thinking these were supposed to be the main event, when it's more reasonable to assume they were always intended to be supplemental. It's fine to be critical of them - I myself was disappointed when WandaVision failed to stick the landing in the final ep. Never found them to be any more irritating than any other overworld enemy, save for those occasions when they refuse to come down and attack, and you have to just give up and start walking away, knowing full well they'll be pecking on the back of your head three seconds after you turn your back. Once I finally accepted that I couldn't (massive air quotes) "run" everywhere and had to pace myself between running and walking so that I had enough available stamina for random fights, the combat became much less frustrating. --- Simple questions deserve long-winded answers that no one will bother to read. |
