Whenever I've seen him outside of Community, he seems to have that same acerbic, borderline mean-spirited sense of humor that I can't help but interpret as 'punching down' because he's very tall and good-looking. It works perfectly for his character on Community though, since his character is a self-centered asshole constantly fighting an uphill battle to be a more thoughtful and caring person.

It's funny to me that some think that Bethesda should get a free pass because everyone expects their games to be a burning trash heap at launch.

I haven't given them a free pass, personally. The FO76 debacle was more of a spectator sport for me (since I never had interest in playing it), but the incompetence / contempt for the fanbase that they displayed with the Creation Club did affect me, since I still play Skyrim / FO4 and actually bought a lot of CC content. Given Bethesda's rapid decline over the past three years, from where I'm sitting the only way I'd trust them again as a developer is if Microsoft did some very public housecleaning, preferably starting at the top.

Anyway, I don't think the public in general gave Bethesda a free pass over FO76; they got raked over the coals for it, and rightfully so. The difference is that expectations were far higher for CP2077, and the letdown was that much worse as a result.

I was a huge fan of the Super Mario cartoons/games/products when I was a kid and was really excited for this movie. But even I hated it.

I was pumped for it, and my parents took me to the theater to see it (I would have been 10 at the time). I remember seeing this long line of people, and saying out loud 'wow, I can't believe all these people want to see Mario too!' And my parents sighed and said 'no son, that's the line for Jurassic Park.' (as I would figure out some time later, the subtext there was 'god I wish we were going to see JP instead of this.')

Anyway, that's the first time in my life that I remember being so let down by a piece of media that I was actually kinda depressed about it for no small amount of time afterwards. I don't think even the thickest ironic lens could allow me to enjoy this movie. The only redeemable part for me are a small handful of (smart) Iggy and Spike lines.

I feel like (based on media response and not firsthand experience mind you, since I didn't play either) that FO76 and CP2077 were about even in terms of unplayable bugginess. The biggest difference is that next to no one was surprised when FO76 turned out to be a rushed, buggy, soulless cashgrab, and so there wasn't as much of a letdown; CP2077 was arguably the most hyped game of the year, coming from a studio that had a higher amount of respect and goodwill from the gaming community than Bethesda did at the time of FO76's release.

Something else to consider is the surprising amount of anti-consumer contempt Bethesda had for its fans in the time following FO76's release; I don't recall CDPR being that contemptuous during the post-release backlash, but I could be misremembering (I don't have as much of a personal stake in CDPR as I do Bethesda, so I might not have been paying as close attention to CP2077's post-release fiasco).

Sorry that I didnt look into the possibility of my dick not working from a virus. I stayed indoors for months, got vaccinated as soon as it was available, and still wear my mask everywhere. I dont at all apply to your description here.

That's why I said 'no offense to you personally;' I didn't know your stance on things and did not assume one way or the other. My point was that a lot more people might get shocked into action as far as getting vaccinated if the ED complications were more widely known.

spikethedevil posted...
What does the vaccine have to do with that guy getting ED from getting Covid? @masterpug53

That's my fault, and I apologize profusely; upon rereading my post I neglected to specifically say 'side effects of Covid,' and can see how my post would have incorrectly inferred that it was a side effect of the vaccine.

Holy shit dude, this is the first Ive heard of that side effect, Im so sorry. Do you have any idea if its temporary?

No offense to you personally, but I think one of the biggest reasons people are resisting the vaccine is because they aren't being made aware (or aren't taking it upon themselves to learn) of the huge potential for long-lasting - potentially lifelong - side effects; they're only worried about the mortality rate, if that. I've known about the possibility of ED (in addition to Covid's other frightening complications) for at least the past six months, possibly longer, and have heard of it from several sources; and let's be perfectly honest, I get a large portion of my news from this very board.

Yeah, one of the things that really stuck with me about SR2 was that, in the middle of all the wacky and borderline-juvenile chaos, shit could turn really dark at the drop of a hat; and for reasons I still can't fully explain, those jarring tonal shifts actually worked.

On my first playthrough I chose the Gang quests in the following order - Ronin, Sons of Samedi, and finally Brotherhood - and in hindsight I feel that I got pretty lucky with that choice, as it was optimal in terms of story progression and leaving a positive effect on me. Ronin hits you fairly early-on with Aisha's death, but it's a more secondhand tragedy since Gat is the one most affected; still, it was a great way to actually get me invested in the plot and characters early-on. Then you've got a more detached sense of downtime with the Sons, and finally things get much more personal with the Brotherhood, with the murder of your protege quickly escalating into a nemesis-like rivalry with Maero, something that is given extra weight by the fact that Maero starts off as a fairly reasonable guy.

I bought SR 2 out of a bargain bin some time after GTA 4 failed to keep my interest after the first few hours. Turned out it was more GTA than GTA was at the time, and I loved it. I don't know if it quite tops San Andreas for me personally, but SR2 was far better than it had any right to be. And it still has one of the best character creators / customization of any game I've played.
