I never realized I would be able to watch Lady Gaga in a movie and love every second of it. This movie was spectacular. I'm pretty sure the chemistry between these two ruined a marriage in real life or something. But, it was a small price to pay for the goodness of this movie. Spectacular. 74 - Sin City Just weird you guys didn't get this movie. 77 - Never Back Down This movie is my guilty pleasure. I watch it ALL THE TIME. Amber Heard is REDONKULOUSLY hot in this movie. I wanna wrestle too, little man. I hear ya. This is basically the Karate Kid of MMA. It has one questionable moment where maybe the message of the story defeats itself, but who cares. The music is great. The fighting is great. Everything is great. The mother is a bit on her last legs of maybe going looney, but hey... who cares. This movie rocks. (I had no idea being drunk was called being on the sauce or some shit until this movie). 78 - Step Up Oh, come on. Channing Tatum's best movie probably. Music and dancing. A love story where arguably they both are the damsel in distress for different reasons. I have watched every single Step Up. While most of them pretty much suck (See: All but the first), this one is the shit. 79 - The Uninvited Snake couldn't stick around because there wasn't enough horror movies to his liking unfortunately, but he would be happy probably to see this one here. I like this movie a lot. I did not know it was an American version of a foreign film until recently told this by board 8. Such an unconventional love story that all comes together with maybe the best realization line in history regarding it. When you realize you want to spend the rest of your life with someone, you want the rest of your life to start as soon as possible. It's humorous. It's feel good. It has the iconic quotes and cleverness in the writing. And, you actively are rooting for an outcome that the main characters are so unable to see right in front of their eyes. 62 - Whiplash Basically the liberal version of Full Metal Jacket. Lol. Hard to like one without the other! This one is better though! I like the culmination of this movie and what it means for the characters involved. You could argue that the opinion of the instructor flips on its head at the end if you wish to. Strong movie made powerful just like Full Metal Jacket did by an absolute barrage of ridiculous berating. 64 - Only the Brave Perhaps it is fitting Miles Teller comes up twice in a row right now. This movie is about a group of Hot Shots from Arizona. I knew nothing about this story before hand, and I think maybe it is best you know as little about it beforehand for maximum effect. It's one of quite a few of these movies on this list I have made topics about on Board 8 over the past year. It was also unfortunately another movie that when you read about the real story (I didn't even know it was loosely based on a historical event at all) that the depiction tears down the perception. It was this movie that eventually solidified that yes I do love Jennifer Connelly and that she might be the most beautiful woman in the world. Which led me to watch a few of her other movies just because she was in it, such as Dark City, etc. 67 - Perks of Being a Wallflower Simply love this movie. The music, the fun, the plot, the characterizations. The surprisingly dark story laid underneath it all. Nina Dobrev. Perhaps it is understated how much I just enjoy High School movies in general. But, this one is different than the typical ones that are comedy. This one had a substance that brings me back to watch it time and time again. Emma Watson's best movie for sure. 68 - The Raid: Redemption Arguably not a single foreign movie got guessed correctly (maybe even ones guessed at all) in this list (depends on how you feel about Hero I suppose). This is like the no brainer here. This is probably the best action movie ever made. This is just waiting for cancel culture to rear its head at it. I even made sure I had a talk with the last person I watched this with that I feel compelled into today's society to express this movie is a comedy and some of the things in this movie would be illegal and shouldn't be replicated in real life! lol American Pie is the classic teenage comedy. I wait on bated breath for when society circles back around for teenage comedies being the it thing again! 57 - Rogue One The first third of the movie isn't spectacular... but it ramps up and hard. The end battle is magnificent. Then the cherry on the top at the end to tie it all directly into the trilogies. You care about a lot of these characters. And, this movie goes where a lot of the prior films tend not to go. This was a perfect bridge movie in the universe of Star Wars. 58 - Wedding Crashers Every day for probably a year me and my cousin watched this movie when we got home from school. It's fucking funny. I am pretty sure I was in love with Isla Fisher for a long time because of this movie also. I feel for Vince Vaughn and his end twist regarding his relationship. I would have been right there, my man. The Will Ferrell cameo is well done too. This is film is one of the Rachel McAdams trifecta that made her career (along with Mean Girls and BLEH the Notebook). There is something that is just appealing about the fight between innovation and things that already simply work well enough. As someone who works in many industrial settings, this plays out all the time. This movie at the root is this. How something that looks good on paper may not necessarily be as good as what you already have. I find it hard to not watch this movie and feel through the movie for the soldier and the emotions that you can feel running through his mind. The realization of a lost life, a purpose other than what an entire life was trained for, and so on is all readily able to be seen going on in the Soldier despite his limited words. 55 - Rounders Pay that man his money! While cards and poker always get simplified in movies, I like the game. The cast here is impeccable. The game of no limit hold 'em basically is his life. Seriously. He doesn't know when to fold at the right spots for basically throughout the movie. But, unlike his friend who sees all the angles and refuses to take them... he sees a lot of the angles and isn't afraid to pounce on them. His life is always watching out for those limited angles he doesn't see making it all crash down. | Corrik7 03/04/21 4:11:26 PM #405 | 43 - The Last Samurai SAKE! SAKE! I like history, and I have always dabbled more into the war side of history for the most part. It is the most interesting aspects of it. I prefer watching battles depicted on screen with swordplay rather than guns. Something just innately more entertains watching close combat to a gun mowing down a bunch of people. This is probably why movies like this are on here but not so much We Were Soldiers or such. The wife is beautiful. (But, apparently this was the point of her casting). Cruise actually plays something generally outside his general range well. It's just a great movie that depicts what I hope was a relatively accurate depiction of Japanese culture at a crossroads. 46 - Devil Wears Prada Poor Andy. The lovable girl who wants to do well that gets shit on non-stop by everyone. Who makes questionable decisions as she descends into a life that maybe she was never meant for. I am going to assume this is Meryl Streep's best performance. This movie introduced me to the every beautiful Emily Blount. Anne Hathaway is so gorgeous in a lot of her get ups. The movie manages to be as cutthroat as imaginable while being about the fashion industry that frankly people like me could give two shits about. 49 - For Love of the Game This is by far without any doubt my favorite baseball movie of all time. Kelly Preston is beautiful. The story is perfectly told. Seeing the ups and downs of a career intertwined with the ups and downs of life in general and coming to the realization of a sunsetting that maybe doesn't have to be written in stone for every aspect of life. Wow. What a movie. 51 - Pretty Woman Seriously. I considered putting Easy, Medium, Hard labels on the spots. This one was easily have been an Easy. This is an automatic edition to any list. 41 - Alexander Alexander is one of my favorite historical beings in existence and also in one of my favorite historical times. Angelina Jolie is smoking hot in this movie too. Great movie. 42 - Knocked Up I watch this movie literally all the time. Katherine Heigl was so amazing in this movie that I never understood why she fell off the map. (Apparently she was a bitch to work with on set so got shunned for the most part). Was again on Chris's conservative movie list. lol. I guess because they didn't abort the baby? I don't know why haha. | Corrik7 03/04/21 3:51:46 PM #402 | 31 - TOMBSTONE *Sensible chuckle* of course. For someone who said they were going through the most beloved conservative movies, this one was surely on there. (Which was funny such a list actually exists, yet a liberal counterpart seems to mysteriously not. Probably because there isn't many movies that pass liberal standards in actuality.) Tombstone is a movie I hadn't seen until last year. And, I was surprised because I don't like many westerns, but this one was great. Doc Holliday is awesome too. I was sad to see upon looking into Wyatt Earp and Doc and the events that none of them were even in the stratosphere of very accurate for the most part and that Wyatt and Doc seemed more like con artists in depictions of what actually happened. Oh well. 33 - Moulin Rouge Simply an amazing movie. Ewan and Nicole kill it in this movie. It's just the right amounts of silly and serious. It's by far my favorite movie that is basically a musical. People should have won oscars for that movie. I watch it probably 5 times a year easily. Then again, you have to be into basketball to properly take from it.
