The original cut isn't erased. They're just making a new cut that they can play during the day on radio. People talk like it's a choice between "play the original" and "play the edited version", but realistically it's probably more "play the edited version" or "don't play it at all".

Yeah but the EU stuff only applies where it's also in the new canon. That's my point. It isn't just "everything about thrawn in those books is canon now unless stated otherwise".

The Thrawn of current Star Wars canon is from Rebels, not the Thrawn of the books. I know nu-thrawn is basically the same character, but the old stuff doesn't really apply.

I know everyone tends to say Thessia, and sure enough, it does have you losing in a cutscene against the absolute worst character in the series, and it's the peak of Mass Effect 3's forced melodrama. But if you bring Javik and Liara you get some great dialogue and new lore, the latter of which is especially missing from the rest of 3.

I actually think the Palaven Moon at the start of 3 is a contender. "Generic moon" environment, nothing interesting dialogue/story/lore wise, and a fucking turret section in 2012, in what was previously mostly an RPG series. It feels like a Gears of War level, and not a good one either.

Handheld usually, in my bed. I like it docked, but my joycons have a habit of input delay or just losing signal.

Sucks to be confused over somebody's actions and beating yourself up trying to figure out where they're at, only to find out they weren't even thinking about you at all.

Great month for Game Pass. Mass Effect trilogy, Hitman trilogy, Danganronpa, Taiko No Tatsujin. And that's just off the top of my head.

There's absolutely loads of hidden stuff like that in the game. I haven't come close to finding all of them.

Miyamoto had a lot less involvement with Skyward Sword than he did with Ocarina of Time. Miyamoto was the producer on Ocarina of Time, whereas the producer of Skyward Sword was Aonuma.

Having said that, I think Miyamoto was "Series Producer" for the Zelda series during Skyward Sword's development, and I'd be surprised if he didn't have the authority to say "this doesn't work, remove it".

But yeah, I never had a problem with the sailing, even in the original. It never stopped being cool.

What confuses me about it is the Spaceworld demo looks bloody horrible. Like an early CGI cartoon. Wind Waker still looks gorgeous to this day.

My friend liked it. From what I heard and saw there was a few "yikes" moments, but it wasn't comically bad.

Plus there's plenty of words that are inappropriate for children I wouldn't consider as swearing. Like fellatio. Or pedophile.

I presume it's not the same people. Different groups of the fanbase. Bear in mind the Pokemon fanbase is massive, so 5% of them saying they hate Pokemon and won't buy it ever again is still like, over a million people, while still being a minority in the fanbase.

It's probably not a pedo, but that's apparently too difficult to grapple with for people that just cling and NEED to use the word. If I was like most of the people in this thread I would be drawing attention to that oarticular point and drawing conlcussions on it about their personality because it is super useful and relevant to the conversation lol.

I've always been baffled by Americans referring to it as swearing. Where I grew up, it wasn't any worse than dang, flipping, heckin', etc. It was just a word. Never heard it ever it referred to as something you couldn't say except in American media. I got in trouble for saying "blooming", but never for saying "damn". I wonder if it's an evangelical thing.

I'm split on them. On one hand, I like the way on games without them, like on Nintendo systems or older ones, I can just decide for myself when the game is done. "I've done it all, I'm pleased with my completion". Whereas on the Xbox or Playstation or whatever the game would be like "Well, you haven't killed 20 enemies with the spear of Kangreia yet! You call this 100%??".

On the other hand, I've definitely enjoyed some games more because of it. I've used playstyles or played and enjoyed games like Skyrim or Mass Effect in ways I otherwise wouldn't have were it not for achievements/trophies.

However, I did get the platinum trophy for every Danganronpa game, which was quite possibly the most tedious thing I've ever done, so it's a net negative overall.

I am fat, very fat, BUT I've lost a good amount of weight over the past few weeks, I've had to watch what I'm eating because I'm getting my gallbladder out so I need to avoid fat lest it flares up, but ALSO after the operation my digestive system will be fucked so I'll be surprised if the weight loss doesn't continue. Woo! If it continues at my current pace I should be a healthy weight by Summer. TOUCH WOOD

The problem with the game isn't that it's incomplete. It's that the story is fucking boring. Nothing happens for 20 hours then you rescue code talker and unlock the entire plot explained through audiotapes. In Peace Walker, the audiotapes were cool extra conversations, like codec calls you couldn't miss. In V, it's near enough mandatory to be understand what's going on. Gone is the days of MGS 1 - PW where you slowly uncover layer after layer of a conspiracy, each revelation giving new context to all the new info you've gotten before. Instead it's just fuck about for 20 hours while everyone hangs around at Mother Base doing nothing of importance.

That seems quite large for a 1998 PC game.

It's the only game I can remember where I've seen a trailer that made me go "right, say no more" and preordered it and stopped looking at info on it. Usually I'm poring over leaks, rumours, new trailers etc. But after the trailer last week I muted the word "pokemon" on Reddit, unfollowed Nintendo on Twitter, and stopped clicking on Pokemon stuff anywhere. Well except for this topic. Okay I haven't completely stopped reading them. I've seen a few spoiler-free impressions, and there's a lot of "this is the best Pokemon game in years, if not ever". The thing that cinched it for me was someone who said "if you think you'll like this game, you will". I don't usually even buy Pokemon games at launch.

If someone tells you something like this makes them uncomfortable or upset, maybe just... stop doing it? Instead of arguing that you don't think it's that big a deal.

There's more Crash games exclusive to Nintendo consoles than there are to Sony ones.

This. Game Freak is a third party developer who owns Pokemon along with Nintendo and Creatures. Nintendo isn't "in charge" of Pokemon anymore than Game Freak themselves are.

It is because no one except the most devout Nintendo fanboys bought a Wii U, but the switch is incredibly popular so it is like these games are new to most of the audience.

Ironically, as someone who was devoted enough to buy a Wii U, the Switch is probably the most disillusioned I've ever been with Nintendo.

Speaking about the, ahem, technical troubles all the New Vegas DLC had at launch reminds me. Fallout 3 > Fallout 3 DLC > New Vegas > New Vegas DLC was probably the absolute worst Bethesda games have ever been technically. Nearly every single release for that few years was barely functional at launch. Fallout 3's The Pitt or New Vegas on launch day make Fallout 76 look like a technical achievement.

And yes I know New Vegas wasn't actually Bethesda developed, etc. etc.

More like GF doesn't have a choice because they need to release games on a schedule with the anime and new merchandise. The Pokemon Company won't let the entire system just pause without new material for a few years while GF works on a game, especially when the games sell well regardless.

Difficult choice between maths and foreign languages but I went for the languages. In my school it was actually required you do a foreign language for two years, but I managed to drop it in lieu of studying both Geography and History. Apparently nobody else wanted to do both >_> but while I struggled hard with maths, I think I could have been fine if I put more work in, and I at the very least like maths now. Foreign languages? Wasn't interested in them and I was bad at them.

I'd be very surprised if anything comes out that makes me go for a PS5. The biggest temptation will likely be Persona, and as much as I like Persona, it probably still won't be that big a temptation. Can't think of any other Playstation franchise I'm really at all interested in.

I notice people complain about load times and frame rate a lot. But now that consoles put their focus on bettering those things in a very significant way, people don't even acknowledge it when talking about this gen. That stuffs way more important than exclusives imo. I been asking for a gen that focusing on performance first over everything else. They finally did it.

I think people don't acknowledge it because there isn't a lot to talk about. Both Playstation and Xbox now load quickly and have high framerates, the end. Even the comparison tends to be "they're basically the same".

Terrible. Should be called Nintendo Sony. Sounds better, and comes before Sony Nintendo alphabetically.
