I fucking hated the "moral choice" at the end of Honest Hearts. Let the tribe arm themselves, making them militant, or have them evacuate the area, keeping them innocent. Fair enough question to ask, except the game ties itself into knots to stop you just asking the tribe what they want to do or giving you any decent information to act on. Just "uuuuh militant or peaceful".

I rather liked that game. The story wasn't all that and the characters are okay, but the battle system was this weird interesting cross between turn based and action that I thought was really cool.

Yeah I think the battle system is why I kept playing. Just whenever the combat might have started to get old, it added some new system that made it more difficult to use while allowing you to do more damage. It was great.

When I'm at my worst, sleeping. Sometimes I just get more stressed though about not being able to sleep.

While we're talking about 360 JRPGs, how about that Eternal Sonata? I think that's the only non-Persona JRPG I've ever completed it. It wasn't even that good.

I think Odyssey is the easiest to complete. You only need a very small fraction of the total moons to finish the main game and there are a lot of easy ones to get.

Oh I forgot that pretty much everything in Odyssey is optional. Yeah I'd probably recommend Odyssey then.

In terms of casual play and completing the game, probably either Galaxy, maybe 3D World. Odyssey would probably be fine too. 3D World is mostly easy but I remember a couple of the normal levels towards the end of the game giving me, an experienced veteran of gaming, a bit of trouble. Doing anything optional can get really challenging. Galaxy is pretty comfortable the entire time.

Sunshine is the hardest, especially just casually.

Oh yeah definitely this too. It was part of "operation red meat", the plan to announce lots of "popular policies" to try and distract from the fact that every day there's some story about another illegal party the government held during lockdown, or that the PM's team was threatening to withhold funding from constituencies if their MP didn't vote for the PM's policies.

It's more because the omicron variant has already swept through here and is looking like it's quieting down. England had already stopped mask requirements last year. They were brought back for omicron. Even if they're not legally required, a lot of places still ask you to wear them anyway.

Game Freak is a small studio (in terms of # of employees) that's never made anything but technically lacking games. There's a weird revisionist history where people act like games like Pokemon b/w or hg/ss were impressive at the time. Sprite scaling was not "woah!" on the Nintendo DS, let alone in fucking 2010. Not to say the sprite art did or didn't look good (although it got ripped apart at the time for looking terrible, but people forget that part too).

Is that the show with the completionist guy? I saw a clip of a woman calling out guys who trash her review sections while praising the men's review sections even though they're all written by the exact same one guy. Yet people try to say that she clearly plays a game wrong or her opinion is trash etc.

The only interesting thing in Star Wars since the Disney deal is some of the stuff in The Last Jedi. The rest of it is typical MCU-style "I know that thing!" nostalgia pandering.

It's telling that nobody talks about the story or character decisions or anything in The Mandalorian or Boba Fett, just about which characters might turn up.

Wasn't there an expos article on Rare saying they're allowed to do what they want, and that isn't Banjo Threeie? Stuff like messing about with kinect games for years was what the people in charge at Rare wanted.

I think even 3 could run, they'd just have to do some work, ala Witcher 3 or Doom Eternal.

That game really wasn't kiddie in the same way Spyro is. I mean it had an ocean of alcohol as one of the levels. It's definitely more a game aimed at adults than it is families.

That said, there's no reason to believe MS are against funding "kiddie" games.

Mario, Zelda, Sonic, Elder Scrolls, Mass Effect, Grand Theft Auto.

So this is different from the Switch version? Maybe I should still pick that up, it's on sale just now.

At this point, it seems to me that the fanbase wants GameFreak to be a bold, ambitious studio that wants to push boundaries with what Pokemon can be. That will push scope, fidelity, narrative, whatever instead of incremental changes on a base that has not fundamentally changed.

The fans also want every single feature from every past game included as well. God forbid you trim some fat.

Anyway, it'll be funny if all the sort of rumoured and speculated stuff like more regional variations or evolutions just... don't exist. We get the game and the starters have the same final evos, there aren't any new or regional pokemon we haven't seen, and they've essentially shown us everything already.

I mean it'll suck, but also kinda funny.

That's not even an issue of weapons breaking or not. That's just an issue of weapons being useful or not. Easy solution to your problem is to design more useful weapons.

Every weapon in skyrim is useful. I still made a dragonbone sword and never needed to bother with anything else.

You know what I think when I play a game without weapon durability? I dont have to worry about my weapons breaking, which makes them a lot more fun to use than it would be otherwise.

Sucks to be you. I have fun with the weapons regardless of them breaking. Them breaking encourages me to try everything and try different strategies instead of just going "this one with the big number is good!" and using one weapon and fighting style for the rest of the game.

I think a lot of us underestimate the amount of people that just go "screw it" and pay the monthly fee instead of scrimping and using the $1 deals and stuff.

You don't ignore it though. I don't see how you can play without thinking "my weapons are disposable so I may as well use them". Not having to worry about not having weapons doesn't mean you're ignoring the system.

I've never found any issues in New Vegas on consoles that made me wish I could mod it. Even issues like the one described in OP are things I wouldn't even notice.

In fact, even though Skyrim has mods on the Xbox One version I play, I play it without them. Can't be bothered sorting through them, choosing, diagnosing issues, sorting load order etc. I just wanna play.

I liked the weapon durability. I really really hope they don't add in some kind of repair system. Why would that be more fun? Who plays something like The Witcher 3 and thinks "man, I really like having to make sure my stuff is in good condition"? Repair systems nearly always suck.

I can appreciate the depth of content and how reactive the writing is, but the roguelike "try over and over" gameplay just isn't my thing. I can tolerate it for a while but meh, eventually I just lost interest.

Series X is the new one. I use Xboxes but I can't argue that the names aren't fucking terrible. Xbox One I didn't mind, but the Series thing is just nah. I thought they might try to go for an Apple style thing of "our new systems will just be called Xbox" which this feels like, but done really badly, because it isn't just Xbox, it's "Xbox Series X". "Xbox X" and "Xbox S" would have been better.

Just a straight affordable HD machine. I had a great time with the GamePad, but for the problems it came with, I think I would have preferred to not have it.

I don't think I've bought a game at full price since 2019.

I reckon it's 10/90, thinking about how much the books would be devalued without an ending. His books should be reduced to a tenth of the price until he finishes it. I bet he'll start writing then.
