Stats wise, I find this always striking to me when I study it. In the past month, I am "technically" in the top 3rd or so of streamers' channels in terms of average and total views.

My average viewers: 1-2

I mean...that speaks volumes. I sure as fuck don't feel that high up...imagine how many stream to 0.

The issue one always faces is: you are not making money FROM Twitch, as in the company. You earn money being a viable entertainer so that viewers actually watch and support your content. But that is a month to month thing. Churn is a weird experience. Some people could be fans for life or flake out after one or two streams.

The unpredictability of it all makes it....unappealing to make a career out of it. Same deal with YouTube or Patreon. Twitch has lower entry barriers to monetization, but that doesn't guarantee anything

Speaking of apps, now HIDIVE is pulling a Funi and going solo. I guess watching Land of the Lustrous again on VRV last week right before it went away was a smart move.

Sheesh. If they get a PS4 app (no reason why they wouldn't, that's ANOTHER service I gotta buy. Only $4 it looks like, but steam service licensing is a clusterfuck.

It probably has more to do with the game being zoomed out to fuck (thanks widescreen fucking up platformers forever) and being a blind person. I can barely make Sonic out in the background while trying to hold myself steady with the moving pad.

I've played a bit into Tropical Resort and Sweet Mountain. I think the best word I'd use to describe this would be "pleasant." Not necessarily the most fun or exciting gameplay. I can see avid platforming fans potentially turned off by how "on rails" a lot of the game is. It sure does have a lot of unique paths and collectibles. But as someone who dropped off Sonic after 3&K (only playing Generations and Mania), this is the sort of easy going platformer I need. It's designed simply enough, but it doesn't seem either too janky nor too "perfectly precise."

I really appreciate the weird banter that comes from the intercom announcer (who may or may not be Eggman himself now that I think about it). The comedy falls flat in the cutscenes because it's too kiddy, but the intercom interludes are subtle and hilarious.

Started it myself this afternoon. Only played a few levels, but this certainly has that Generations feel. A little stiff in spots, but I appreciate the sort of "on rails" presentation over Sonic given free reign at breakneck speed to fall everywhere.

I overhauled my anime queues for Crunchyroll and Funimation today (a little too much I think. I picked pretty much anything that said "Dub" in it...)

Anyway, to my surprise, Emma: A Victorian Romance was listed in Funimation's catalog. I remember getting a disc way back during Netflix's DVD days that only had a sub version from Nozomi Entertainment. I was pleasantly surprised Funi had an English version. Emma was one of those properties that always gave me a smile when reading the manga. Just a subtle, enjoyable romance read. It just was fun for some reason. The anime version is exactly as I'd want to be: charming, slightly stilted and awkward, but enjoyable. The fact it has a New York based dub cast is...unexpected. I know New York did dubs, but at about the same frequency as Viz/Canada...as in never.

I kinda needed a softer, lighter show after some of the stuff I'd been watching lately (Ergo Proxy, Land of the Lustrous, etc).

I am curious too. Raka's issues are my main gripes as well. Only making money off enemy drops is kinda bleh too.

Oh, and the freaking license board. I hope Zodiac Age does what the Sphere Grid did and keep people in defined jobs. In the original, I just kinda didn't get what each weapon or armor was trying to be. Best I managed was certain magic types to certain people...

XII wasn't my style of "Final Fantasy" game to me. They tried to make a pseudo action game/faster turn based system that took 2-3 times to gets snappy and smooth (7R). Other issues were a political intrigue plot, every character other than Balthier lacking charisma and "presence", and a just overall "western" feel to the entire thing. The music too. Uematsu wasn't there, and the Odin Sphere/Valkyria Chronicles guy did a "orchestral movie soundtrack" that didn't hook me like Uematsu's "jingle based" songs.

I tried to play it multiple times. I've beaten it twice and quit two other times in the same spot (Raithwall).

To me, FF should feel like Dragon Quest/Persona and other JRPGs still do. Yakuza for instance went from a beat em up TO afull on turn based system and benefitted from that change. Square is free to experiment, but that kind of experimentation with "Western or Mainstream" game styles just isn't what I want. XIII and XV had things I "could" have enjoyed, but 7R is the closest to a "fun" game.

FFX was the last time Square Enix gave me a "FF" experience.

Funny enough, I actually liked the voice acting of the remake. Then again, I know all the actors from 5 million other things...so I'm biased. Then again, I think the original v. remake acting is similar to SOTN's. SOTN's is VERY campy and has both super highs (Dracula) and lows (Succubus). The remake actors are better quality, but less...intense about it.

So I guess it's a matter if you want memorable with the potential to be bad or "Hey, I know this set of actors won't screw this up."

SH2 had...decent actors in the original. Nothing amazing either.

It subverts a normal "fighting for revenge" and "stopping absolute authority" naratives by putting you in the shoes of someone who was completely shit on by her circumstances, and so thoroughly took no quarter on getting her revenge. Add in many party members who also didn't give many shits (though 1-2 shone by being the bastions of 'good manners') and you have a story that revels in the excess its approach afforded.

I think of the "limited enemy models" more akin to FFX than Eternal Sonata (which I will VEHEMENTLY disapprove of). Then again, Eternal Sonata has more problems with its battle system than just that (4x damage if I don't guard just right? Fuck off game). The way this game is designed, it's kind of a actiony take on FFX's tic tac toe player -> enemy weakness design. The boost skills actively target certain types and weaken them way more than wailing on them. Which...thankfully, you still can whoop up on them without the Boost. It just takes longer.

If they ever decide to dub them again (they went sub only a couple years back), I could get back into them. Subs aren't easy for a blind person after all. They were a yearly staple to get through a very lean late PS2-PS3 JRPG generation drought for me.

Stories and characters are never super exciting, but the battles can be tricky or surprisingly hard on occasion.

I would start with Ayesha or Sophie. Meruru was a favorite, but ended a trilogy loop
