One other thing I have noticed is other than ep 1 (and parts here and there), they have really avoided the space battles/spaceship stuff. It could be a creative or budget concern, but I wonder if they'll save those for an end season episode or something. They have deliberately changed episodes around to do the plots in and around cities and warehouses/fields/underground bunkers and shit. Doesn't change what the plot is (chase badguys, crime drama, shootem up bang bang, and simple shit). It's just an interesting observation to limit the spacey stuff to when they need it.

Through Episode 7. I will say this: Jet based episodes are great, Spike based episodes are good, and Faye...not so much. 7 was the first ep that really diverted from anime content and...yeah. It was bad. Oh well. 5 and 6 are still great. Let's just hope the last few get back to that level instead of falling flat.

Way darker than the colorful world would suggest. The 3rd disc is a slog story wise, but Kuja's rampage rivals Kefka and Ardyn in total effectiveness as FF Villains go.

Halfway through Episode 3, I'm really enjoying it so far. My only question/issue is why does Vicious look like Lord Farquaad?

A British guy is playing him. It's very...different to be sure. He has moments of the old Vicious, but they are certainly going for a different feel on the character. Still hoping he gets that real "Holy shit" moment when shit starts going south...cause you'd have to assume things will. As he is through 5 episodes, it's not the best. Spike, Jet, and Faye still own though.

Ed is one of the lesser parts of the show anyway

That's what people seemed to forget. Bebop worked best as a drama/crime mashup. Spike/Jet/Faye were great at balancing dry humor in when things get too serious. Ed just sits or jumps around like a superball, but only gets...an episode or two of her own. Outside of that, she's there to go "ED BANDIT!" and scream at the screen. She's there to be comic relief. As this show is going, it's following along nicely with the humor it has. Ed is going to be a severe distraction, I can feel it.

I saw Ed and I know a lot of people are going to hate Ed

It's not even an accuracy or acting problem, it's just a character that doesn't work in real life

That was my worst fear going in as well. Spike, Jet, and Ein are great. Vicious and Julia are...well, different. But Ed is something you just cannot do in live action. God only knows what that will be like....probably hell

3 episodes down.

It never ceases to amaze me when I see a terrible reception to something and come here to find people seeing the good in it.

When people said "dumpster fire," my all time "this fucking sucks I can't watch this" is Terminator Salvation or Mulholland Drive. As far as anime to live action, this is better than Ghost In The Shell was...for now. It has every chance to suck with 9 episodes to go. Maybe it won't.

It also helps I didn't check Twitter or any press before watching it. I can watch it as bias free as possible. Cause fuck Twitter.

First episode already, and I'm already noticing a lot of good things. Spike and Jet's actors are really good. The visual/music representation of the Bebop world is fully realized about as well one can do. I think the word I'd use is "safe." It is exactly as advertised (right now). They are even retelling the first part of the movie and first episode. But they do it pretty well. There are some subtle story differences. But as a first episode goes, everything feels as it should.

Nothing special, but not a trainwreck as feared. We'll see if that holds true for 10 episodes when they start fleshing out Faye, Vicious, and Julia.

SMT usually focuses more on gameplay and harsher dungeon crawling (not always, but Persona has implemented easier QoL in most cases). There's also a more spiritual/world view of Law/Balance/Chaos through ideology and philosophy. Persona tends to veer more into interpersonal connections and societal evils. Persona also heavily emphasizes the dating sim aspect, which SMT...rarely if ever does.

Do note there is way more in the minutia, but in general this is what I notice most.

Q1. What Visual Novel game would you most recommend to someone?
Ace Attorney: just went through them again, and hot damn the third game...

Q2. What did you enjoy about this game?
The characters were great, and while I enjoyed the subversive horror, the redone slice of life stories of Plus were even better at getting to know the characters and their struggles.

Q3. What did you least enjoy?
It takes a while for the shoe to drop those first hours.

Q4. Where does this game rank in your list of Visual Novel games?

Q5. Were you in the Literature Club when you were in High School? (If not, what?)
No clubs. D&D and anime club in college though.

Her name is strangely written, based on what it should be. Yufi (based on the Japanese prononciation), but 2 fs and and ie. You-fi-ay, would be the technical way to pronounce it. I wonder if her name was supposed to be "Yufie,' but unlike Aerith, they never got around to changing it in subsequent versions.

As it is, I go with You-fee. Anyone who says Yuh-fee is a fan of dogs, thinks Yuffie is a dog (or a hippie/yuppie), and is just wrong.

It's more the fact they even said it at all, as if they never played an SMT game (or Persona game), and thought, "THIS IS FINE!" Besides, 4 and 4A have pretty decent characters and plot for as dungeon crawl heavy they are compared to Persona anyway. So is stuff like Soul Hackers. Which someone who played them would have probably understood and...fact checked first. Even more so that the line is the last thing they see on their OFFICIAL TWEET! I mean...that is pretty much asking for people to beat you with sticks. Said in the body of a buried review, I doubt anyone would notice. The review would look stupid, but not a complete own goal.

*Note, I haven't played every SMT or Persona game under the sun, but I'm not stupid enough to throw either under the bus for public consumption.*

What I find works for me is a usually "goody too shoes" characters. A Divine Soul/Divination Wizard based on Belldandy from Ah My Goddess was probably the easiest one to deal with. I find that I'm not a liar or bad person by nature, so trying to be a deceptive or angsty character doesn't work great. The one time it did was recenty, a Snorunt/Froslass named Lili/Lilith who is based on the Yuki-Onna. The rest of the party knows the killing for fun bit is their nature, but plays along because they (the character) never outwardly go against the party.

The one thing I say is, "Is my person working for the party or working for themselves, and by extension, is the player?" I had to let go of a few character who sounded good in theory (Rogues pretty much) because I was trying to be the murderhobo for the sake of it, not because the party was littered WITH them and played along.' Once I played an Undead Warlock Beetlejuice for the Lols, it became more fun. Same with a Sid the Sloth/Rocket Racoon Halfing Druid. I wasn't ever against the party and filled my own role in the background when needed.

As a DM, it is a different story. You can craft characters and portray them for or against the party. That's where I find the more villainous ones can be fleshed out without killing party dynamics.

My main D&D character goal is, "What movie/tv/cartoon character am I basing this off of? And does it feel mechanically or roleplay fun to play. If it fits a niche for the party, then it actually starts to get fun and you can't live without it. Otherwise, you can drop it (or ask at least)

Minneapolis Miracle? 35-7
Twins win a division? Hello Yankees
Gophers beat PSU/Auburn? COVID Season says hi.

I stay a fan under the assumption I don't buy into "this is the year" bullshit. Keeps me somewhat sane. Not sure if that is being pragmatic, cautiously pessimistic, or both. Then again, I only follow the Wild and Vikings with fervor compared to the others.
