Okay, now let's talk about how Trump removed Obama-era gun restriction rules, or how Congressional Republicans voted against the border bill (while claiming Democrats don't care about that stuff). Oh, right. You don't want to admit the bad things your side did/does, do you? You just want to point fingers at everyone else.
What do guns have to do with this? We're taking about Biden's handling of the border and how the removal of those restrictions ended up causing the whole crisis.

I just explained the issues with the bill, which Biden completely undermined with his EO. If the bill was good, he would have used the 5k, not cut it in half to 2.5k.

Acknowledging these issues doesn't make someone a Republican.

The law currently prevents asylum seekers from getting work authorization for the first couple months; what alternative is there to free housing or living in public areas for people who, by law, can't earn an income?

Undocumented immigrants make up 10-20 percent of the construction workforce; jettisoning them will raise, not lower, housing costs.
This might make sense if like the majority were eligible for asylum, but only about 30% are approved, and that's for affirmative, which you have to come through a port for. The majority cross illegally, which is defensive, which has an approval rate of around 15%.

People don't want to blow billions in local and state taxpayer money like here in NYC on people that may be asylum seekers, especially while recovering from a pandemic. Nor do they want to import poverty from other countries and increase competition in the poorest neighborhoods.

Under Biden, Democrats in Congress put forth a bill that would give the president the authority to "shut down the border" when border crossings are above a threshold they've been above since the pandemic.

You can't create a reality that Republicans and their allies in the media won't lie about. But you can cause real harms in the process of trying to prove how "tough on immigration" you are.
Yeah, in February 2024, after several years of record shattering numbers, and only when the polls were looking bad for Biden. A bill with numerous issues, and where going by CBP numbers, would not have triggered the restrictions between February and June. Hence the eventual EO in June with 2.5k (vs 5k), which was stronger, but far too late.

SSj4Wingzero posted...
Centrist Democrats have been as tough on the border as Republicans. This notion that Biden and Obama allowed for open borders and illegal immigrants to come in in massive numbers is just not true and not borne in any semblance of reality.
Biden's insane numbers and shit handling are indisputable. Obama handled it infinitely better than Biden. Biden is the one who immediately removed every restriction Trump had put. Gaslighting people about this clearly failed.

The numbers are not bogus just because you don't like the numbers. Turnout as we speak is down for the Democrat presidential candidate, and down overall for the 2024 election. That is currently a mathematical fact.
They objectively are bogus because like 10 million votes still haven't been counted. They mean nothing as of now.

NatsuSama posted...
And I'm definitely not confusing you as you are still as we speak arguing about something irrelevant to my post that I also never said.
You literally said I said something someone else did.

NatsuSama posted...
No one has argued turnout alone is the sole reason she lost, and I have repeated that many times to the point I've lost count. Yet here you are still arguing about that turnout alone wouldn't change the results. It's more fascinating than anything else at this point.
No one is saying any of that in the first place. I'm proving you wrong on the false inferences you're making from incomplete numbers. This is statistics 101.

Reading can't be this difficult for you.

Again for the umpteenth time now, none of my post say specifically Democrats voters. You keep slcircling to "specifically Democrats" and you have been told many times now, "not specifically Democrats" as it's a moot point to even argue given turnout was down, period.

Try your best to follow along this time.

Stating a mathematical fact that less people voted this election does not mean specifically Democrats. You are insisting on specifically Democrats, and this was never said by me.

The numbers I "touted" wasn't bogus numbers just because you don't like it. Those are the factual numbers for 2020, and the at the time of that post, the numbers for 2024. Turnout factually went down.

81 million (2020) to 68 (2020) million means turnout went down for the Democrat presidential candidate.
74 million (2020) to 72 (2020) million means turnout went down for the Republican presidential candidate.

That is a simple fact that anyone with first grade math skills can deduct.
I mean, you're the one here confusing different people.

The numbers are bogus. The 2024 numbers are not final, so making any inferences from it will lead to a false conclusion.

1 million less people simply means there would have been 480k more Harris votes and 510k Trump votes. It does NOT affect the results unless you can show proof it was in key areas. If turnout was identical to 2020, the results would still be 51-48. Even if 10 million more people voted, it would still be 51-48.

Again, no I did not say this.

You even admitted just posts ago you got me confused with someone else thinking I said Dems in specific.

You are massively confused with keeping up with your own posts.
What? That was a completely different poster that said that (ssjevot). I never said I confused you. I first responded to your post with the bogus numbers you were touting as evidence of low Dem turnout.

NatsuSama posted...
I said lower turnout is ONE, not the sole, but ONE of many reasons Kamala loss. Voter turnout went down, not up for tje Democrat President. That is a fact. Less people not voting is not boon for Kamala and its a mathematical fact turnout went down.
There is no proof of this because statistically speaking, turnout for Trump went down also.

What you don't understand and can't admit is that you were using false numbers to make a point, which fell apart because they're false.

Your OP is "The fact of the matter is less people voted. Mathematically it still affects results", which is false. "Mathematically speaking", 1 million more people wouldn't change anything about the results at all. They would be identical.

Hold on, this isnt adding up. If only 1 million less people voted, then how did Trump get 2 million less and Harris get 14 million less? Theres no way that third parties got 15 million votes.

edit: AP is reporting that Trump got about 73mil, Harris got 68mil, and third parties collectively got 2mil. That only adds up to 143, and the site you linked says 158.
They still have a lot of votes left to count.

NatsuSama posted...
I feel like I have to repeat this in every topic and in every post now.

I did not say voter turnout is the sole reason Kamala lost. So when talking about reasons why Kamala lost, none of my post discussing a particular area is claiming thats the sole reason she lost. She lost for over several reasons.

But this idea that people staying home is not one of the reasons, is just false. People staying home that leans to your side, is not in anyway a boon.
I understand what you're trying to say, but it doesn't really track statistically speaking. A million more turnout would just be 480k more votes for Harris, which would be offset by 510k for Trump.

Unless there's some evidence the entire million or more was gonna go one way, the result would continue to stay in line with 51-48.

People keep saying this like it magically changes turnout went down and less people voted.

Unless the numbers actually hit the same numbers of voters from 2024 overall, not theoretically, but actually.... voter turnout went down. Voter turnout being down means less people voted, and worse it appears voter turnout showed up mostly for the Orange Messiah.
I'm a little confused on your point. About 1 million less people in total voted in 2024 compared to 2020. 158.55 vs 159.73.

That remaining 1 million would have likely been 480k Harris and 510k Trump. It would have changed nothing unless there's strong evidence showing they were all going to break a certain way.

We do actually have evidence.

Turnout went down, not up.
Trump in 2020 got approx 74 million votes.
Trump in 2024 has approx 72 million votes
Biden in 2020 got approx 82 million votes
Kamala in 2024 has approx 68 million votes rounding up.

Mathematically even IF you try to argue some votes flipped to Trump to claim millions didnt stay home, the math still isn't mathing. Trump went from 74 to 72. Democrats went from 82 to 68.

The math shows we had people who voted Dem in 2020, stay home in 2024 into the millions.
Those are not final numbers. They're still counting.

Only about 1 million less people voted this election. Without more information, statistically, that 1 million would have a similar spread to the actual 51-48.
