Kawaii culture, marketability towards a recognizable style that's Japanese. Not all idol groups do it, but youth and innocence are pretty well sought after and celebrated in Japan.

An actual 12-15 year old who fights crime alongside Batman? I hear Matt Reeves and Robert Pattinson are actually for the idea of portraying Robin again.

But the argument against is still kinda valid. It's an easy thing to buy Batman essentially drafting a child soldier in his war on crime in comics/cartoons where there's already a natural disconnect, but seeing it portrayed in live-action might still feel questionable.

Wouldn't a responsible Commissioner Gordon, when introduced to Robin be like "yo what the fuck dude?"
