Assassin's Creed Odyssey

Excellent winner

End of Act 1 and already 13 hours played. I heard this game is 4 Acts so I might be roughly looking at roughly 50 hours of content at my pace.

Completely sold on this game. Possibly the best 13 hours I have played in any indie game. It is incredible and remarkable that a single person made this game on so many levels. Truly an astounding feat but regardless of that I wasn't gonna pull any punches with my criticisms if any were to present itself because I judge my games irrespective of budget and size of the developmental team. And on that note, the game has been practically flawless apart from the at times poor vocabulary in the dialogue that I already mentioned. The stat lock Chrono Cross like progression system actually kept the game's difficulty quite balanced so far so I wouldn't consider them a flaw. The good things, the game does really well. The story and characters are very intriguing and well written. The turn based battle system is very fun and actually requires use of strategy but never becomes overbearing (not so far at least). Exploration is fun, environments are varied and atmospheric, and music is just simply outstanding.

Really excited to see what lies ahead.

So this game

- Starts off as Chrono Trigger
- Then becomes Xenogears and doesn't even try to hide it with the very first mission name
- Becomes Xenoblade Chronicles with the huge open fields
- And now Final Fantasy VI. Literal Narshe party split happened for me right now.

The developer must be a huge huge JRPG fan.

Also Shin Megami Tensei vibes with the Carrot boss battle that killed me so many times. The battle system is very methodical and I like it.

The dialogue could really use some editing though, it feels like I'm playing a fan translation JRPG from the SNES-PS1 era at times.

So Victor is a numenor huh.

Final Fantasy is doing fine here. There are also probably not that many people who actually believe FF7 Rebirth is gonna come out this year. 90% chance that game gets delayed to 2024 or beyond. That game would have be my most anticipated game (other than RE4 which is not even an option) but I doubt it's coming out anytime soon so I voted Tears of the Kingdom because I know for a fact that that one is surely coming out and soon.

Pretty sure there's at least a few voters who felt the same way.

Also the opening needs to be mentioned here. Excellent Chrono Trigger troll job

Played for two hours and this indie game has surprised me so far... with how good it is.

The world is interesting, the characters are interesting, the battle system is interesting and the story is interesting. The only thing I consider a flaw so far is that the dialogue has sub par vocabulary and I'm being quite generous here. Other than that, excellent art direction and soundtrack as well. I'm really impressed.

GoWR > GoW 2018 > FE: 3H > RE Village > Ghost of Tsushima

And Ghost of Tsushima was great, the others were just better.

No. Despite Elden Ring being the best video game I have ever played, all of the games from Demon's Souls to Sekiro are absolutely timeless. Replayed all preceeding six games after Elden Ring last year and not only do they hold up, they age like fine wine.

I don't think that is a hot take at all because it is highly unlikely Triangle Strategy will lose to Tactics Ogre Reborn which is remake of a remake of a port of a Super Famicom game and it also has a good chance against Crisis Core Reunion. I predict it to finish in a solid fourth place tomorrow. I just don't trust the remake/remaster section's strength at all.

My post wasn't supposed to be amicable nor was it vehement. I used the amicable thing as an example but leave it to you to cherry pick things to make an argument about something that it is not.

If I was being vehement which I rarely ever am, and somebody called out to me on it. I wouldn't deny it. The last time I was 'vehement' to anyone or anything around here was with UshiromiyaEva in the Bayonetta 3 topic. And I admitted I just find it extremely annoying when people lead a crusade towards boycotting any media and hate bandwagon without a shred of knowledge against something that they haven't even tried. Also thought Elden Ring's performance yesterday was a little underwhelming. I expected it to easily clear 50% against these opponents. Still should win GotY easily but I'm not confident at all that it will 65-35 God of War Ragnarok anymore.

Did the 163 Land Before Time movies even make a combined box office of Dominion?

I mean yeah the first Jurassic World movie understandably had a lot of hype behind it but the movie itself wasn't anything remotely close to a great movie. But then two movies happened after that, each subsequently worse so the fact that Dominion the third movie broke 1 bill despite terrible reviews across the board is easily the most shocking entry here. I understand the other options are shocking because they are bad movies as well but they are not the poorly reviewed third movie in a franchise already having diminishing returns. On Stranger Tides have the excuse of being a long awaited sequel to the trilogy after a certain time has passed.

Why are the Jurassic World movies such box office beasts when they are the most generic and forgettable action movies imaginable? They don't even have the Superhero clutch but fucking Dominion (one of the worst movies I saw this year, and I certainly didn't go see it at theaters) broke $1 Billion.

I came in to vote for Rise of Skywalker but I seriously did not think there were this many other terrible billon dollar movies. Skywalker is like middle of the pack here lol.

Edit: Scratch the last sentence, after looking carefully at the options it might actually be the best movie here. Like wtf lmao.
