I live 30 miles away, my wife works for the Federal Government, and we would go have lunch in DC at times. I am legit scared to go anywhere near the city right now, and haven't been there in almost 9 months.

Obviously lots of sites and communities can have Game of the Year, often though the recipients of the awards may differ from organizer to organizer.

Who's the gold standard for awards in video games, like the Academy Awards to movies? IGN, PC Gamer, something else entirely?

68 people, though it also is known to have variants. Of course I kind of already knew this.

My ancestors were Scavullo before coming to America. Sometime around WWI, two of them enlisted in the military, but the military personnel records fudged one of their names to Seavello and the other stayed Scavullo. Rather than change it, the one brother kept it. I'm not sure the exact reasoning why, it might have been die to being underage when joining and he didn't want to correct it.

So the Seavello brother kept it, and I am one of his descendants, but we are members of the Scavullo family as well.

Edit: What I did find interesting between searching both surnames is that Seavellos are more Republican aligned (23% higher than the national average and 70% of them affiliated with the party) while Scavullos are primarily Democrat aligned (approximately 68%).

My birth name was #6 (John, 1976). If I was born in 2018, it would be Benjamin.

However, I legally changed my name to Locke in 2006. I put that in as well (2006 being the birth year), and it was one of 17 names born that year. If I was reborn in 2018, that name would be Nam.

High EMS Destroy is the only one where you get the Shepard breath bit I think. It felt the most right of all of them. Though yeah Low EMS Destroy is where things get pretty fucked but I forget if the same thing can happen if you have low EMS Control.

I just remember Synthesis was supposed to be hard to get and Destruction was easy to get.

I'm an immuno-compromised individual who hasn't left the house in almost 11 months now. I'd very much like to get a vaccine, but I might wait in quarantine a couple months to just see how it all irons out.

The VA will probably let me know when it's free for me and I'll have a better idea at that point too.

I feel like the Switch is an overrated console. I've ended up spending a ton of money on it and it's left me a bit jaded about it.

There's only a couple games I've enjoyed on it that I could only get on Switch, and the fact that it's been 10 years and I'm still waiting for a new Metroid game sucks. Since it's launch, I've played Breath of the Wild, Super Mario Odyssey, Octopath Traveller, Hyrule Warriors, Mario + Rabbits, and the Link's Awakening Remake. That's pretty much it. I play everything else on PS4.

But my wife and kids use it more than I do, which is where the most expense has come from. We go through joy cons like crazy from drift and input issues, and then with Animal Crossing, we had to get a second copy of the game and a Switch Lite so we could have separate islands, one for the kids and one for my wife (though she gave me the device for Father's Day lol). A good marketing strategy I guess, but I am not impressed.

I'm also a couch gamer. I don't do handhelds. I find handheld gaming uncomfortable, and so the Switch stays docked about 95% of the time.

My wife got me a "Hot Sauce Advent Calendar," which gives little sample sizes bottles of various hot sauces, like Chipotle or Cajun flavors.

Yesterday I got a bottle of Garlic Hot Sauce which seemed to pair well with pizza night in our home, but today I got Wasabi Hot Sauce and I'm at a bit of a loss how to use it lol.

Maria is an alienated high school student whose life gets turned upside down when she switches places with her sinister mirror image.

I feel oddly torn about my choice to watch this movie. I actually like the movie for the story it told, but I feel extremely guilty for liking it. There is a lot of nudity from the main star of the movie, India Eisley. She was mid 20s when the movie was filmed, but she appears younger than her age gives credit, and in the movie she portrays a 17 (almost 18 as dad [Jason Issacs] puts it) year old high school student. The lead actress is filmed masturbating, having sex, and appearing fully frontal nude in front of her father. It's a bit creepy if you let yourself think of it as voyeuristic of a minor, but if you can move past that, the movie itself does some decent story-telling about confrontation and taking control of your life when feeling bullied.

There are some undertones to be taken from the movie, and some assumptions that might need to be made by the audience. The movie is very dramatic, far more than it is horror, and it feels like an art house type movie, something you might see at Sundance or Tribeca. It seems like the type of movie that would be very divisive amongst viewers. If implied nudity of a minor is a turn-off, definitely avoid this, otherwise, you might enjoy it.

I'm playing Egg, Inc., and it uses compounding math for it's upgrading process between separate tiers using the example:

100% + 100% = 300%

...but I don't quite understand how the math works or why. I've never been much of a math guy, so it's going over my head.

It really just depends on a couple things.

How serious of a crime?
Was it premeditated?

Honestly, even if it was past their birthday, I'd kind of expect that a 17 year old or 18 year old get similar treatments in court for the same crime. 18 year olds aren't magically more mature than 17 year olds, and I'd even argue before 22, young adults are prone to stupid decisions that would lead to criminal activity, especially in regards to activity that was attributed to peer pressure.

The above is of course in defense of small crime, like assault, burglary, or breaking and entering. Something more serious, like murder, requires a full investigation of motive and psychological evaluation, but despite the outcome would require them to be monitored their entire life.

In short, there is no simple answer to your question. Just like raising children, you don't treat them all equal, you give them individual responsibilities based on their maturity progression.

I miss the days where the whole game was complete and packaged on Day 1. I get they want you to play their game longer, and fans want reasons to play games longer, but microtransactions and season passes are just awful.

Game quality going down might be due to what the industry has been attributing to rising costs to create games, and the reason why games across all platforms will be getting the 10 dollar increase going forward. It's going to start getting really expensive to play AAA games if they are 70 dollars, and have 25 dollar season passes, and other lucrative microtransactions.

TBF, Conan isn't someone everyone can relate to. He's a bit pompous, and turns some viewers off. He's got a large following, but he wasn't drawing in viewership due to having a similarly large overall disdain of his style, so they had to let him go.

Personally, I've never been that big of a fan of Conan, I stopped watching the Tonight Show shortly after he took over, but I'm back to watching it again now with Fallon. I don't hate Conan, I just didn't find him funny enough to keep me interested.

For Welcome to Blumhouse movies, I think Black Box was my favorite. The Lie was quite good as well in some regards, but not really Horror. Nocture was decent and passable, but you rated it already and know. I haven't seen Evil Eye yet.

I had a Roll Out with fruit shooting at me AND only 3 spinning platforms.

The Perfect Match game with the spinner is a bit redonkulous, and it's a bit unfair to the people who start immediately next to the spinner itself on the outer edges as it immediately punts you off the moment the countdown to start ends. Perfect Match is definitely the new bean culling game though. We went from 43 down to 12 after Game 2 in one particular episode last night.

I also had Round 1 Big Fan that eventually timed out. I personally don't find it that hard of a level, but we had enough people struggling with it that the game eventually just ended and only took 36 people forward instead of waiting to get 6 or 7 more qualifiers.

Saw a Slime Climb last night with a Yeetus Hammer that would allow you to skip the final slime stretch to the finish line... it's a trap imo. I had two different iterations of Jump Club where one was shooting fruit at people and the other had a double spinner. Whirly Gig's whole ending section seems redesigned, and I don't think the middle path is a shortcut worth taking anymore. Knight Fever seems to have a multitude of varieties from Yeetus add ins, See Saw add ins, fast moving bumpers instead of axes, draw bridges not fully going up and down, or draw bridges being off timed. The swinging log originally first found in Knight Fever is found in a lot of games now as a variable as well.

I saw someone basically "jumping on air," on See Saw a few days back, managing to make it from one checkpoint to the next without ever appearing to touch a see-saw. I see similar tricks on Hex-A-Gone as well, but not long duration, repeated jumps.

I'm seeing lots of people get thrown up on to the side blocks of the final stretches of Block Party lately where they can just meander through without worry of being pushed around in the mosh pit below.

I've also seen people "teleport" through walls on Rollout.

Did a blind playthrough. It was short, but felt just right, especially for a single sitting (with stretch breaks) over 5 or 6 hours.

I ended up losing two characters.

Conrad, who died from two back to back failed QTEs while being chased by "something" and fell from a ladder.
Julia, who I accidentally killed as Alex after failing the distributor cap QTEs.

The QTEs in this game were brutal, but my reaction time is almost that of a slug too so it doesn't help. I think I failed almost every heartbeat QTE, and I definitely missed several button pushes, though the only one with repercussions was Conrad.

I didn't find all the secrets, and I think 4 of each white and black pictures (8 total).

I got the "prison" ending.

I did something different today. I bought and did a blind playthrough of The Dark Pictures Anthology: Man of Medan.

I loved Until Dawn, and somehow I hadn't even heard of this game until KCF did a recent Until Dawn playthrough topic. So naturally, I had to give this a go.

It's basically a movie... lol. In my blind playthrough, I lost two characters, Conrad and Julia. Conrad was from failing a QTE near the end as he's running away from "something," and fell to his death after two failed QTEs on a ladder, and Julia was at the VERY end of the game because of a poor decision on my part while playing Alex. Those who have played will probably know what caused the deaths.

Just watched The Gallows: Act 2. Not horrible, like the original, the ending is it's best part, but in this particular case, I feel it also kind of crushes everything before it and becomes it's own worst part of the movie as well.
