Yeah this is what I did. I didn't regret buying it but I only played I think 30 hours or so before getting the true ending. Biggest issue is the lack of content. Other roguelites have way more shit to do.
I finally played through the game a couple weeks ago and completely agree. The story is good and really rekindled my interest in Greek mythology, but the game isn't very deep or exciting. Once you get good, every run feels pretty predictable and easy. It takes forever for heat to start stacking high.

I feel like it's rather telling that they used examples of 30 and 100 years, as opposed to the much more common timeframes of... 30 days and 3 months. There have been numerous stories where squatters attempted to take over a property that was left empty for less than three months, usually after somebody died.
Because that's not squatting, as I've said multiple times. That's a tenant issue which can and should be solved by legislation.
[LFAQs-redacted-quote]

So the land not only goes unused for probably decades, but is without any maintenance or security? Sounds bad.
And this doesn't address ownership disputes. Should someone who has been living (and believes they own) a property for 30 years have it taken away because someone else shows up with a 100 year old deed? What happens to any work done on that property? Can the squatter reclaim their shed or extension or pool if they can somehow dredge it up?

what did he mean he made it public that he was going to squat?

Did he actually sign the papers and contact the owner or their family? or did he just post the deed on social media and lived there for free for 7 years. once he gets the title does that mean he has to start paying rent/mortgage and have all the responsibilities of owning a property?
Google public notice.
Depends on the state, but in mine you make a post in the paper and contact the government. There's a public and easily searchable database of all public notices.

[LFAQs-redacted-quote]

It's the owner's responsibility to take care of their property, for one. If you can't be bothered to check on it in 7 years, you're wasting resources and creating a hazard. If someone else publicly takes care of it instead, it's better than an alternative world where the government has to step in.

It also solves conflicts of property use. If you've been publicly living in a space for 30 years and someone swoops in and says, "Actually, I own the deed from 100 years ago," they have to show that they've been using the land.

Don't like it? Check up on your land every 7/15/30 years.

Most of the cases you on Fox news aren't actually squatting issues, but tenant issues. If you leave for vacation for two weeks and someone moves all their stuff into your house and refuses to leave, that's a tenant/eviction issue. Tenants are favored because they, presumably, have no where else to go. The government doesn't want to unjustly punish a legitimate or unknowingly illegitimate tenant by giving them no where to live. The problem comes from how long it takes to resolve these disputes.

There are all sorts of good reasons why squatters' rights are good: https://youtube.com/shorts/tqpOk09rjZo?si=yT4SxQnDui1ylSXD
Yeah, there's plenty of bad cases, too. But those would be simple to fix with basic legislation if we cared to do so.
Then there's cases of tenants' rights that are largely only an issue because of an overworked legal system. Tenants should absolutely be favored 100% of the time in a dispute barring other issues.

While we cant rule out the possibility that the observed decline in Strategy is due to a change over time in one of countless demographic variables among the gamers we sample, we can rule out this possibility in terms of the most likely culprits. The charts below show our gamer sample has been mostly stable in terms of gender, age, and gamer type (i.e., identification as casual, core, hardcore gamer).
While there has been a slight decline in age in the sampled gamers (and this could have been a likely confound), the correlation between age and Strategy is small (r=.06, r-squared = .004) and could not have resulted in the observed decline in Strategy.
The other reason why the decline in Strategy is unlikely to be due to a demographic sampling confound is because we know, from previous examinations of age and gender differences in gaming motivations, that other motivations (like Competition) are far stronger correlated with gender and age. Thus, any demographic confounds in sampling would have resulted in larger effects on those motivations rather than Strategy.
So it might be demographic but it might not?

I didn't say it's bad. But saying "just use Crissaegrim" is terrible advice if someone was doing a blind run. Most of the god mode mechanics are just completely hidden to first time players, it's not reasonable to judge the difficulty on knowing the game inside-out (and upsidedown).

And, yeah, it's kinda bad design to have so many hidden things with zero hints towards them. People give Simon's Quest shit for mechanics that are explained better, even with bad translation, than some stuff in SotN.
