I know I've been spamming the board with it the past few weeks, but the game I've been making, sandquest, is exactly what you're looking for.
It's a game where you personify inanimate objects to be party members, so far in the demo you can recruit a stalagmite, a cactus, a pair of bunny slippers, a giant hentai figurine.

I never tried JC2, one reason being I could never get a hold of a copy and also I think there was another reason I don't remember. I think maybe it's cause I heard the merging isn't as awesome?
I played a Saga game once. I think it was Unlimited Saga? It was literally the worst game I have ever played. Like Big Rigs bad. Soooo I've never tried another Saga game since.

If you mean CURRENTLY then I don't know, but most of the high level SC2 commentators just transferred over from BW to SC2 when it came out. So Day 9, Tasteless etc.

Please stop describing the whiners as 'fans'. I love Bioware. I've played and enjoyed all of their games, and felt the ending was a perfectly valid, if odd, way to end the series. I am a fan. Once you declare your undying loathing of a company and swear never to buy their products ever again, but make sure to respond to every single topic that references them in order to reaffirm your hatred, you're a troll to be counted among the company's enemies, not their allies.
This is a bad post Black Mage Jawa and you should feel ashamed.
A person can be a fan and be incredibly disappointed and let down by poor creative decisions.

Yeah I think I'm gonna get the DS Monster Rancher and see where that takes me.
I might look into Bahamut Lagoon, I do like side raising of monsters too. I spent an ungodly amount of time playing Sonic Adventure 2: Battle for the Gamecube, and I don't even want to know how much of it was spent playing in the Chao Gardens raising my little Chao friends.

Hmm, just reading descriptions of Monster Rancher games is getting me fired up.
Here's the description of Monster Rancher 4 from Gamefaq's page for it:
Mocchi, Suezo, and Golem are back in Monster Rancher 4. This entry in the Monster Rancher series features an expanded breeding and training program, full customization of training facilities, and an interactive action adventure element. Breed and train multiple monsters simultaneously with a variety of training equipment to choose from. The more efficiently you plan out your training facilities, the better you will be able to train your new monsters. You can also pop other Monster Rancher CDs and DVDs into your disc drive to unlock new types of monsters.
I don't know what this all means but I WANT TO DO IT
Hmmm. The latest one I see is for the DS. Would I be better off ebaying a PS/PS2 Monster Rancher or get the new DS one?
On a side note, I guess the game I got that ruined MR for me was Monster Rancher Explorer. How cruel of them to trick me with a game like this and deny me what sounds like an amazing series of monster raising games!

Is there actually a good Monster Rancher game? I actually watched the anime when I was a kid and I ended up getting a game for christmas because I thought it would be exactly like DWM but it ended up being some kind of archaeological adventure game or something, nothing to do with raising monsters.
Since then I have never dared hope a Monster Rancher game would give me what I wanted

I have DWM Coby's Journey too, yeah. It was good, but so was Joker. The original is by far my favourite though. The way the story was structured in that tree made progressing so satisfying, along with random environments all the time. Cobey's Journey was repetitive on subsequent replays because they went with static levels to make each stage feel unique, which was good the first time through but not the ffith.
And yeah trust me I replayed the **** out of these games because I absolutely love them.
Reminds me of another game I played called Final Fantasy Legends. You had a party of 4 that you could populate with 3 types. Humans, which were you equipped gear on like normal, and improved their stats by buying them in a store. Like if you wanted more strength on your human you bought a potion called Strength and fed it to him and it would increase his strength by 3 or whatever. The second type was Mutants and they used equipment too. Except they increased in power by doing stuff. Like if they did lots of melee attacks their strength would increase, or if they cast a spell their magic would increase. I thought these were neat, but I loved the third one. Monsters. You would feed your monsters the meat of enemies you slew, and they would completely transform. They could be like any monster in the game, but unless you had a guide (which I did not) you had no idea what they would turn into. They could turn into an Oni and be completely badass or they could turn into an Alabaster which was a weak ass bird and suck. So it was risky transforming them. I almost always had a team of four monsters because I just loved it.
UNFORTUNATELY I got my copy of the game from my cousins and it was bugged or something. There's this tower you have to get into and you play around in this region for awhile until you fight this whirlwind boss named Genbu. He's supposed to drop a key stone or something to let you into the tower (which from what I understand is when the game truly begins), except after the fight I go to the tower and I have no such keystone and I can't get in >_>. I've restarted that game many times and played through up to killing Genbu and I still can't get in. Every couple years I pop the game into my GBC, GBA, SP, DS, whatever, and think, this will be it, THIS IS THE RUN. But nope, I always end up with four messed up Monsters at the tower that won't let me in.
I should emulate it or something maybe.

Raising up monsters is one of my favourite game play mechanics, but I don't see it done much. Some of my favourite games ever are Jade Cocoon for playstation and the original Dragon Warrior Monsters for GBC.
Anybody else got some awesome monster collecting games? I enjoy pretty much anything where you put together a large team of characters to train like Fire Emblem, but primarily I love seeing a ton of different types of monsters with many different appearances and abilities.
I've played and enjoyed many kinds of pokemon of course, Red, Blue, Silver, Diamond, Stadiums, etc but I've always felt those games were kinda limited, vastly preferred JC and DWM.
What really makes these kinds of games great are awesome breeding systems. I absolutely LOVE how you combine monsters in Jade Cocoon and the resulting monster will retain not only combat attributes of both parents, but would also would visually be a cross. Like if you combined a cat monster with a bird you might get a cat with wings or some crap. DWM / Joker's breeding systems are a ton of fun too. That's one thing I've felt Pokemon is missing somehow, it's breeding system doesn't speak to me at all.

I've been a big fan of Tywin's acting since his very first appearance with Jaime. Skinning and eviscerating a deer while lecturing Jaime and making him feel like a dumb child, it was a very strong start for him and he's only improved since then.

I was somewhat enjoying Inferno as it was before the nerf, farming 5 stacks and killing Siegebreaker, and I had even cleared some areas of act 4 and killed Izual and attempted Diablo himself.
But getting one shot by everything was not fun. When there would be 5 mobs with mortar and all of them shooting 3 mortars at a time, dodging the first 13 mortars and then dying to one that was just barely close to you was ****ing stupid. Not to mention they probably have 3 other affixes that are also simultaneously raping you in addition to the fact they probably can just run up to you and one shot you. The floor of effective health to be able to survive this stuff was simply too high that you could not reach it farming act 1, which is why the nerfed it.
It was a bit of a double nerf because they made it so you could actually get the better gear in act 1 (though small chance) at the same time as they nerfed the other acts, but eh. They could have waited for nerfing incoming damage but I think they still would have done it.
--
The batman villians all seem to be one big joke that batman refuses to laugh at - SantaRPG
Lopen is vastly downplaying the difficulty in Inferno. Act 1 hasn't been nerfed and was decently challenging when first arriving there. It wasn't one shot hell like the later acts, but you could certainly die to a lot of stuff, especially to difficult combos.
It's easy to forget it being difficult when after you've farmed even a decent amount of gear (200-300 all resist with 30k+ hp) that the stuff there will now tickle you. But typically when you get to Inferno you have no all resist and more like 20k hp. I remember the first time we got to the skeleton king and everybody in my party kept getting one shot by his blink strike.
Such a thing is laughable now but yeah, when you have no gear you really do die. I remember the Butcher's cone chain attack taking over half my health every time it hit me when I first got to him which was not nice.
Act 2 won't one shot you any more, but it still does decent damage even if you have a chunk of resists. Not getting one shot =/= super easy. Getting one shot by everything when you had 300-400 resists in act 2 was ****ing stupid.

I can see people being upset with Aang not having to kill Ozai, but that was really not poorly done at all.
The last half of season 3 dealt with Aang struggling with how to deal with the Firelord. He has to be stopped because he is clearly a monster and incredibly powerful, so if you don't deal with him permanently he will still cause trouble. But Aang isn't sure he's capable of killing the guy. Yes, energy bending did come a bit out of nowhere, but it fit perfectly in line with the development Aang was having and was a way of solving the situation his way. Energy bending itself wasn't foreshadowed much, but Aang feelings were and that's what really mattered.
I don't even think they tiptoed around the idea of killing just because it's a kids show. Sokka was quite clearly shown to be willing to kill the firelord. Aang had his own ideas and that was fine.
If you were to compare that to the equivalent part of Korra, it's the final Aang show up where he cures Korra's bending problem. Similar to energy bending, that kind of appeared out of nowhere. Except the reason that happened was because... Korra hit rock bottom supposedly. Literally right there. There was nothing leading to this scene to expect this other than "lol everything will work out in the end" Korra never pondered "what will things be like if I lose my bending?" She was just like IMA RUN IN THERE EVEN THOUGH WE ARE VASTLY OUTNUMBERED AND BEAT UP AMON. Now that she's lost her bending she's just suddenly suicidal or something. It's not exactly an unreasonable reaction, but with the amount of time devoted to it, it's so poorly done.
While I'm at it, I think a lot of people have the wrong idea about Ozai. They think he's "bad" or "poorly done" because he doesn't have the depth other characters like Azula, Iroh, or Zuko had. He's mostly just an incredibly powerful evil bad guy archetype that wanted world domination. There was really nothing wrong with that. The series primarily focused on the journey of the Gaang and the people they encountered as they built up and prepared for that final encounter. The characters that they encountered were all very colourful with all kinds of things going on. Ozai had one purpose: to be the power hungry tyrant Aang had to defeat. He had that all in spades. He had the arrogance, he had the endless amounts of power, and he had the ruthlessness. Just looking at him in any scene he was in and you get that vibe. That was really all he needed to be and he did great at it.
Now, that means he's not going to be ahead of any major characters in rankings, but that doesn't really matter. It was great for the show for him just to be what he was. They could have added more facets to his character, and maybe if they had more episodes in the final season they would have, but all the show needed out of him was what it got, and there's really not a problem with that.
I could see being a bit disappointed with him just because you might want him to be as fleshed out as the rest of the cast of the ATLA. ..... But clearly you guys aren't applying that metric to anything in Korra.

Pretty sure Tarrlok in the cell said something like "Amon must be using blood bending to take the bending away even though I don't know how that could be" soo I'm pretty sure we are just supposed to accept Amon was using blood bending to do it.
It's a nice thought to think we'll see more of Amon next season and learn more about why he's done what he has, but it looks like he's just dead now and all wrapped up.

The batman villians all seem to be one big joke that batman refuses to laugh at - SantaRPG
Also this finale kind of ruined Amon. He had great motivations of wanting equality with a mysterious power, while being an unstoppable juggernaut. He was still pretty much unstoppable with a cool power, though I would have liked him to have something different than the other villain of the series, Tarrlok. Also as I said before, I don't think this power was a very good way to explain how he takes bending away.
But the problem is his motivations. We see he was raised by Yakone who he saw as a power hungry idiot and ran away. This doesn't explain his desire to "equalize" the world, especially since he's a bender himself. Is he power hungry himself or what? Just why did he do this whole thing? I don't see how he is any better than Ozai. I don't like how he wasn't exactly beaten either. People just saw that he was a water bender because he water bended in front of them so he just gave up and left. And now he wants to be brothers with Tarrlok again suddenly despite forsaking him as children and taking his bending away in the present.
The whole brothers with Tarrlok thing was just kind of poor IMO.
I've loved Amon up till now, but eh. I really don't see any depth or interesting things about him now that his mask is off\ which is very disappointing.

The batman villians all seem to be one big joke that batman refuses to laugh at - SantaRPG
I'm not a big fan of how Tarrlok was suddenly portrayed as a nice kid and now he's suddenly a good guy again. I feel like there's just a little more that needed to happen to make him see the error of his ways, rather than just vaguely having a feeling that Amon might be his brother and now suddenly he is repentant in his cell. Just feels like a disconnect between his power hungry councilman persona and how we saw him after.
I did like his final scene though.

The entire point of what Lin did was because of her friendship to Tenzin, her ex love, and how he had a family worth protecting. She was willing to sacrifice herself for her old friend and the family he had with another woman.
So this completely changed because after the fact, they were captured, and she got her bending back?
That makes no sense. Something in the future doesn't change what happened before.
It completely takes the tension and and importance of that scene away.
Yes, you can retroactively ruin a scene.
If you completely trivialize everything a scene is about by undoing it then nothing matters.

The entire point of what Lin did was because of her friendship to Tenzin, her ex love, and how he had a family worth protecting. She was willing to sacrifice herself for her old friend and the family he had with another woman. This whole relationship is very subtly built upon in this episode and lightly in previous ones, and is possibly the thing I was most impressed about in this entire series. So she sacrifices herself to save them so that they can get away. And she was successful. And she ended up paying a huge price for it.
except just kidding lol they got got in a net or something offscreen like five minutes later

The batman villians all seem to be one big joke that batman refuses to laugh at - SantaRPG
It's like how in episode 9 of season 1, Baelor, there was that big climax at the end. Then, next episode that character is just walking around with no explanation completing undoing the tension of that previous scene.
If the airbender people had been captured again on screen or something it would have been better. Simply being undone doesn't make Lin's sacrifice mean nothing. In fact, that could be very tragic. Doing what she did and it turns out it was for nothing.
Doing it OFFSCREEN and then just having them show up at a convenient plot moment so motivate Korra out of nowhere is a cheap trick that is very disappointing for what I've come to expect from these creators. Yes, doing it this way DOES ruin the climax of the previous episode with Lin. You can't have dramatic moments then **** all over them the very next moment.
Using them is just a very convenient plot device to easily make you go "oh no they got caught again!". The sad part is they didn't even utilize them. They literally got rescued and then were gone again until the wrap up scenes. Why the hell would you bring them into the scene and then not involve them in it.... Overall, a completely pointless and unskilled plot device.

I think Realo thinking that killing Tyrion was some master stroke move is the same thing as when he applauded Joffrey for over rulling Cersei and the rest by making the bold move of having Ned Stark executed, ensuring his rule and making him look like a real king to the people.
Joffrey had no such motivations, he was just a spoiled brat abusing his power any chance he got, just as he continued to do in season 2.
In the case of killing Tyrion, Cersei was just being a spiteful witch.
Sometimes he just misses what's truly going on with these characters and misinterprets boldness for cleverness because he wants to think they are really that good.

Walking into his rally that is full of chi blockers by herself (though Mako did end up coming along) to take down Amon in the middle of it all isn't much different then what happened there.
The knowledge of his past was something she got only mid way into her mission. She made the choice to confront him earlier. And it really doesn't make sense. It's the same dumb headstrong decision she's made all season. Going to fight Amon by herself the last time where she got ambushed was stupid, going to fight Tarrlok at night was stupid, and this was even worse than any of those times. It really shows Korra hasn't learned a damn thing and she wasn't punished at all for it.
Last episode Tenzin told her they need to wait, and she was like, oh, yeah, have patience. And he acted proud of her like she was learning. But this episode showed that she had not learned anything of the sort.... and yet still everything worked out perfectly.
--
The batman villians all seem to be one big joke that batman refuses to laugh at - SantaRPG
It actually wouldn't have been SO bad if they had revealed that they were caught sooner. Korra's sudden desire to confront Amon out of nowhere was idiotic and very bad. She literally did the exact same thing earlier in the season and got destroyed and nothing was different this time. If she had the motivation to save Tenzin's family and thus that's why she had to go, then that would have been better. Would have still undone what Lin did but at least provided motivation for Korra to make a very stupid decision.
Instead Korra makes a stupid decision for no reason and it just also turns out they ruined the climax of the previous episode.....
--
The batman villians all seem to be one big joke that batman refuses to laugh at - SantaRPG
They had a great get away scene where Lin sacrifices herself for them to get away. It was the entire climax of the previous episode. It was a great scene that culminated out of the building tension of Lin and Tenzin's friendship in the after math of Tenzin having a family with another woman. THAT was actually very well done.
....And now they are just tied up conveniently when Korra comes to confront Amon.
Sooo poorly done.
--
The batman villians all seem to be one big joke that batman refuses to laugh at - SantaRPG
The problem with blood bending being the cause that they were just like "yeah I guess he's taking the bending away with blood bending somehow i guess I don't really know how that could be but whatever." That's practically what Tarrlok says. Sooo poorly explained when there could have been so many better explanations how it was done. Instead they do it in the vaguest way possible. They literally could have just said anything they wanted and been like "deal with it" and it would have been the same.
Korra fixing the taking away of bending in the end is really very bad though. The idea of undoing what Amon did should have been a climax moment because it was a very serious condition. Instead it's just an afterthought scene to make everything happy.
I don't necessarily want her to have to relearn the elements Aang style, but the fact that Korra is bad at the spiritual side of communing with the previous Avatars has been repeated several times. Her finishing those visions about Yakone when trapped in that box was a good start.... but then went nowhere. It just comes completely out of nowhere here and that's not good.
One thing that I want to give credit for is that the Yakone visions actually could have been warning Korra about Amon, not Tarrlok..... Except nobody brings it up because this episode completely forgot about the value of the spiritual side anyways and the visions didn't help at all.
The airbender kids being captured was bad too. Completely undoes the value of what Lin did in the previous episode. I would have been okay with Lin getting her bending back eventually (that's another problem with Aang appearing out of nowehre for no reason, Lin getting her bending back was too soon...), but doing her sacrifice... and then the airbenders all getting captured off screen anyways makes everything feel so pointless.

Also don't get people making excuses for the creators because they had limited time.
They specifically designed a shorter series to be told in 12-14 episodes or whatever. If they did not use that time appropriately then it's a failure on their part planning the series.
--
The batman villians all seem to be one big joke that batman refuses to laugh at - SantaRPG
Didn't like the Tarrlok brother reveal at all. Just saying "he did it with blood bending" doesn't make sense... especially since Katara couldn't do anything about it.
Only good things about the finale was Tarrlok on the boat, Asami's fight with her father (which was only decent), and I guess Zuko 2.0 having a dog fight with all those planes.
The end with Aang was very poorly done. Korra was like "oh waah my cool bending is all gone" and I thought, oh, that's interesting, next season will be about her spiritual journey as she learns to undo whatever Amon did while learning to fight solely with airbending. Then Aang appears for absolutely no reason to fix everything for everyone ever. Seriously does not make sense that he just appeared because she cried, not because she found any inner meaning or reached out through meditation or something. If he was going to appear "because she's at a low point" it should have been the moment Amon tried to take her bending.
