first match quite close for me, Frosty Forest is a very fun song! I do really love what corru does with it's digital alien atmosphere though.
I did not enjoy the other deemo songs as much as the first one.

looking at the top 50 list I couldn't remember who Glastrier & Spectrier were at first and I found myself wondering if I must be forgetting about some kind of eyewear related evolution line

I think it's kinda neat that it took until the 28th drop for someone's #1 to show up. Even though I didn't take part in the previous generations rankings, doing a quick glance at the wiki looks like they all had someone's top favorite falling much earlier. Also it seems like in the earlier ones there'd always be some pokemon that didn't place too well with anyone, while here each one so far has been rated at least 17th with someone (though hey maybe I'm jumping the gun here, there might still be some pokemon here that we all somehow unanimously agree should be rated like #50 or something)

That's our first non-single-stage fully-evolved one to drop, I believe. I'm a little surprised it showed up before it's pre-evolution, too.

This reminds me, I have a vague, vague recollection that Nickelodeon once had a poll they'd regularly run on their website where they'd have 3 randomly selected cartoons for people to vote on, and the one with the most votes would get played that day. One day, they did some update to the poll in the middle of running one, and one thing the update changed was you could no longer see the results update in real time. The last seen results of the poll before that point were something like Invader Zim - 52%, Spongebob - 38%, Rugrats(?) - 10%, with Zim in the lead with over 50%. Then like an hour or two later they announced Spongebob won. Was very suspicious.

dont feel like doing proper write ups on the songs today so instead I will talk about some of what I've looked into with the weird audio thing going on with Purple Town, like particularly with the harmonica. This is funny timing for me because I was already looking into the sort of thing in other unrelated songs when vgmc started. It's like, audio recorded at a lower frequency range like 22050 Hz then gets a bunch of weird "reflected" artifacts in the higher frequency ranges in 44100 Hz or more or so. Looking in the audio spectrograms it's like all the audio of the lower frequencies gets reflected upwards right at the point it would've originally been cut off by the original recording range (this is easy for me to notice because I listen to stuff in foobar where I have it set to show the audio spectrogram with everything I listen to). To be honest I originally thought this must be some kind of filter people use to try to make things artificially sound higher quality by generating noise to hit the higher ranges loosely based on the original sounds, but apparently it turns out that this is more just what kind of happens to the audio data when directly processed with higher frequency outputs? Actually I sort of still don't fully understand all of the technical details but it's like the audio files need more optimization / interpolation in order to get rid of these artifacts and hear things as it would probably have originally been intended. Maybe it's kinda like, the original audio files would have sine waves specifically intended to get cutoff & flattened by the end of the original frequency range, but now since the range is extended it doesn't get flattened and now there are extra high curves & peaks of the sine waves that weren't supposed to be there? I dunno, it's funny that that would turn into an upside down version of the audio in the higher frequencies. For the record, in Purple Town's case, this seems to be directly within the audio in the game, it's not due to a poor quality rip. It seems like the harmonica layer was recorded at a slightly lower frequency range than the rest of the song, so when putting it with the other layers, it generated some new unintentional noise. Actually I'm not really a big fan of how the weird noise feedback sounds here but I could imagine some do or would prefer this noise in other things

Alien is a, song. An interesting experience. Like with Gullveig the vocals here can be somewhat tolerable for me, like the chord stuff they do at the section at 1:46 are kind of cool. But then at other points I feel hatred towards not only the vocals but also the instrument. A tricky song to rate but better than usual for vocals for me and it is interesting.
Oh jeez the mistaken loop point on Samsara feels bad. The intro of the song felt kind of plain & short to me that, looking at the listed loop point I was considering going with the opponent here instead. But the sections after the mistaken loop point really do complete the song for me, with the going back through with a cooler, more open seeming "night" theme. If Samsara loses from enough people voted against it due to not listening to the full song, that would be kind of sad!

Moonman fandango I love a good space alien theme! (I do not think I count the earlier "Alien" song as this specifically). Has this mysterious aura about it like drifting through space and then it gets into the bit at :55 which is a really fun section! Great Virtual Boy Song !

NES isn't really my nostalgia, but Zelda NES Title is pretty nice. I like the shift of the theme from :54 onwards, though the loop could be better (I say as if my current bracket A favorite doesn't also have an awkward loop)
Surprisingly, NEFroSt. is my least favorite song today. Eh, it's like this kind of "calming" song does not work for me, it does not calm me. They tend to do the opposite. Though NEFroSt. is far from the worst of this kind of thing, there is still Some good that can shine through for me here.

kazenonotamenu is more of my kind of "calming" piece. It's got a really cool dreamy atmosphere to it that just gets better and better each time I listen to it (which is good because my first listen here may have placed it just below the opponent today). good sounds
Meanwhile my opinion of KotSN~LP might be falling with each successive listen. The song has some cool aspects like The Surreal Darkness at 1:28, but it feels like it does too much with not doing enough or some thing that it becomes harder for my favorite parts to stand out. But like it's still alright though.

On the other hand, Gullveig feels too short! Interestingly, these vocals don't particularly bug me. I guess maybe something about the interesting voice, language, and way they're used don't immediately register to me as "communication" that blocks out my enjoyment of songs. This is a very fun little song but there is too much of an emphasis on "little", it feels like it should be longer !!
Meanwhile Mnnplusato is... fine. It's a perfectly fine song, I have no real complaints at all, but it doesn't really do anything for me to earn my vote either.

I wonder if I'll be the only one going Zelda + Gullveig today, other than UF8's Flat Mate.
