Don't really typically care much for Sky Tower but Endeavor is my least favorite song remaining... But also similarly to An Endless Desert, Sky Tower is kind of resonanting with me a bit stronger than usual today. Would still vote either in match 1 over it though.

I loved the matches in r4d1 but much less so today oh noo. A lot of this may simply have to do with bracket placement because I already expressed this sort of sentiment in r3 and 3/4 of these songs were the ones I ultimately voted for. Part of me wishes all the songs from yesterday could retire over all the songs from today but that just ain't how it goes. Deoxyribose is pretty good though but I notably prefer the other of the 13 sentinels.

Actually though I'm sort of surprised at how much Endless Desert is resonating with me today. I guess I'm more in a mood for the calmer peaceful type stuff, which is a -Very- hit or miss sort of field for me, and it manages to stay within the "hit" side. (I feel like it's super easy for common tropes of the calmer peaceful type stuff to fall into my "miss" side) (Also in retrospect maybe "hit or miss" isn't the best term but who cares maybe it is what are words) this is easily the most I've enjoyed listening to Endless Desert within this contest. Cool because I wasn't entirely sure how I would vote going into this match.

I'm still a huge fan of those segments in Apostle's Maraud at 1:11-1:28 and then later 2:15-2:32 with updated drums, 10/10 stuff right there, so good. But overall bigger picture I've gotta hand it to TIGAR.

Blue Reflection stuff has been maybe some of the strongest I've fluctuated on liking songs in these contests, and I feel like it's happened with both TIGAR and DNF, with stuff like "ranking them super high" and then "Gee I don't really want to listen to this huh" and now it's bounced back "Wow I love this" and honestly it's probably repeated that same thing during the previous vgmc13 too. It feels like now things have kinda settled in with TIGAR in some sort of 'awesome' level and DNF a number of steps below, but who knows if it has "truly" settled in the long run. I think I originally ranked DNF notably above TIGAR but that's flipped now.

First match is close and sort of weird. So with Kirbysong V-C-S-o-R, I -really- love the sort of toony mechanical atmosphere they're going for with the theming, and when it works, it works super well for me, namely parts like :10-:40 & 2:42-2:54 and especially 1:37-1:49. Better for me than anything Desire Below Flow has to offer. But, those are just very small portions of the song. Desire Below Flow on the other hand is very consistent in how good it is for me almost all the way through (except for that slow bit in the middle), and while it doesn't have quite the same highs for me as V-C-S-o-R, pretty much the entirety of Desire Below Flow is in a separate higher tier than much of V-C-S-o-R. Often in these cases I tend to vote for the song with the higher highs & lower lows for being more daring, but in this case the lower lows overpower V-C-S-o-R so I'm going with Lucky Song Desire Below Flow. I guess I also sort of feel like recently I'm suddenly feeling a lot less into V-C-S-o-R than I did for most of this tournament so far go figure.

Second match feels pretty weak though, especially after so many previous matches in a row had at least one song I cared strongly about. Kinda disappointing on some level that this is what the Round 3 ends on but oh well. In some ways it feels like Who Am I "deserves" the win here but Rave On is the kind of song I prefer.

Match 1 is another flusteringly close match, but I'm able to come to a decision this time. A line in the sand aka Beach is a song I've loved for quite a while, and, I kind of feel like maybe some of the love I have for it is starting to wear off or something, like it's no longer living up to the hype I've stacked up for it. It's still nice, but , ...flawed, I guess. Meanwhile I think I'm getting more into the atmosphere & environment Dungeon Geofront 4 creates than I did last time it was in a match. These were basically the feelings I had when I filled out the Round 3 favs bracket but I think now these two songs have kind of balanced more out again since then (DG4 fell slightly while ALITS rose slightly), but Dungeon Geo Front Four still manages to come out on top a bit.

match 2 is one heck of a flustering match. Both are very great songs! I'm not sure if I'd say Credit's "highs" are higher than Ra Melody's "highs" for me, but there seem to be more "depth" to them, perhaps to do with being notably longer. But Credits' "low" points are lower than Ra Melody's "lows". Credits feels more like a better experience but Ra Melody feels notably more enjoyably balanced. I feel like both of these make for valid reasons to vote and both of these songs are great wow what a hard match !! I'm going back and forth so much it sort of feels like I ought to let people with stronger opinions on this match make the big decisions but I may come back to this later "tomorrow" before the vote closes and cast a thing

crap my laptop touchpad activated "go back" mode in my browser and I lost a big post even though I thought I specifically tried disabling stuff like that boo. Anyway here we are at the songs I particularly care for now. This 4-pack in particular is especially hecked to me. I really hope Moonstruck Blossom does not retire, but this is less against MB and more because I love the other 3 songs, Giratina Thermo Bitbop are kinda like all in my top 10 of the whole bracket I think. Something like that, they're all real great for me while Moonstruck is somewhere more in the middle of the big 192 bracket. Sadly I'm pretty sure only Moonstruck & Thermo have much of a real chance of being the true retirers here which is frustrating because now I'm stuck in a cliffhanger and won't know the real results of if I can be happy here until a whole nother set passes. Also I'm probably going 0-2 for a second day in a row after only losing just 1 other match in round 3 so far but "oh well" to that particularly in the second match today because like I said I'm basically getting a top 10er advancing regardless. And also hey maybe I won't go 0-2 and a miracle can happen or some thing I'm not always great at reading the room in predicting things. want 2 believe in giratina

Continuing with this half of Divison A that I don't really care for, Exec Z is probably my least favorite song that I'll be voting for in Round 3. And considering that I said it was an acceptable wildcard winner, that's a pretty good thing. Sure it was the lowest one for me to qualify, but that's still a qualify. And this means that every single other match has at least one song on Exec Z's level! This was a thing I thought about earlier, though it feels less positive right now since I think Exec Z dropped a bit for me since I called it an acceptable wildcard winner. Oh well. All the other matches do indeed have songs I care about though.

it is kind of surprising how much the Kanata song grew on me after set 1, though it's not like GOSU was a particularly strong song for me. Well I guess it -sort of- was in set 1 but it's fallen since then. I guess Megaraph technically grew on me a little bit too but not enough, which in a way is a shame because An Endless Desert isn't all that strong for me either. Honestly of the 8 different divisions the bracket is currently set up in for set 3, this is pretty easily the weakest "division" for me, as things won't get much better tomorrow either. But that's okay.

Match 1 is pretty dang close -- enough that when I filled out my 2nd chance favs bracket just a couple days ago I wasn't in much of a mood for Apostle Maraud so I went with Scourge, but between then & now things have reversed very strongly. Apostle seems stronger "musically" than Scourge, though Scourge has the stronger soundscape for me. But again 1:11 of Apostle is So Good I love it. I think match 2 has the potential to be fairly close for me as well but I'd probably go TIGAR even when I'm in a weaker mood for it, and right now I'm strongly in a mood For it instead.

Very difficult decision, perhaps part of why this original trilogy is so dear to me is because all are basically equal in how good they are in my eyes. It helps that I happen to like the alternate, platforming focus they took with SPM; I can understand why other big fans of the originals may not like it as much. Ultimately I went with SPM > PM > TTYD but it's basically SPM = PM = TTYD for me, putting any of them in last just feels wrong.

Meanwhile the following games I'm basically considering a different series entirely, considering the stark changes they've chosen to stick with. I've seen enough to still feel like The Origami King ought to be called Sticker Star 3, not Paper Mario. That's not to say it'll be another awful game, maybe it'll be great at what it does. But I still haven't seen much of a reason for the Sticker Star series to hold my interest, especially when these days I'd typically rather stick to indie games for a fraction of the price

match 1 is pretty easy, toc match is harder but still alright, but gosh match 2 kind of hurts. I'm sorry (Toxtricity) but this is another case of the credits conceptually having higher highs & lower lows whereas Geofront4 is the stable, consistently-good-but-doesn't-reach-the-highs-of-the-opponent song. I've typically given my points to the song that gets my internal rating more all over the place & reaches the higher highs than the "stable" song, and this case is no different. But really it's very likely that whichever song loses here is getting a +3 from me when it's time for the wildcard showdown.

weirdly enough when this topic was made I was in a mood where Darkman Stage wasn't impressing me enough to give it points; the way I felt I'd've given +2 to the other two and then also Infant Queen Bee. I knew I loved Dark Man Stage so I was confused so I waited to double check to see if the mood would pass, and it did. I guess I was in some sort of mood extremely heavily based on like, leading melody & nothing else or something. I was kind of expecting Zeal Continent to be the one I'd remove from the list but instead it was IQB that really stood out as the weak link now. Maybe I should wait again but nah. Metropolis sort of feels like throwing my votes away but I like the song. There is a definite part of me that wants Dark Man stage to advance over Zeal Continent hence why the 3 & 1. Also Zeal Continent probably has the strength here so its ok.

On some levels making this swap just feels wrong, but when I made my initial entry I was kind of rushed because I thought the deadline was right then, and even if these songs won't be as well received I'd kinda rather see comments on this old obscure PC game rarity I like the soundtrack of that nobody here would probably hear otherwise, rather than a relatively new find that I haven't had a chance to really develop any real feelings for. Seems like this would be more in the spirit of things in any case, and probably what I'd go with if I didn't rush myself in the moment. Here's hoping these go over better than TLOLT,C did in the rank the vgm thing, even though rwlh did give it the 3rd highest score, a 5.5... that song was kind of an intentionally abrasive sort of pick anyway. This seems like the weakest I've felt overall about a wildcard match. Which I guess is a good thing? Would've given Mysterious Trap a point too but I couldn't decide between which of these 3 I'd take one away from, sorry.

Actually I'm kind of shocked that at one point I considered Sudden Visitor a top favorite song of the contest, and even marked it as my Bracket-C favorite really early on. Like at this point I think I might in some ways prefer the other two songs I'm giving points to than Sudden Visitor (though, still not enough to warrant taking a point away for Mysterious Trap). I guess my mood for it has shifted.

I just want to say that the 4-pack of the first 4 songs here today is Really Good!! Too bad some of these songs have to Go Away To The Wild Card Show Down. Even the 3rd match here, Butterfly Girl seems far more appealing today than I was expecting to remember. Still as good as all the songs here my feelings on them are fairly clear. Closest one is Move Me vs BTDutch.

I'd like to switch my vote in the first match to The Merciless Savior, please.

I've been doing some thinking and ultimately I do like that song more than that particular version of Megalovania, and thus it's what I'd rather see advance. I think I'm both in more of a mood for it, and less in a mood for that version of Megalovania right now. My other votes will stand the way they are. Good thing I'm not switching things the other way around haha.

a part of me was hoping to vote for one of the two real megalovanias but not both (or also not neither) and both of these matches were plenty close for that to be the case, Merciless Savior could've easily done it if not for 1:55-2:47. Even then most of the rest of the song is so solid that I still want to vote it over Megalovania, but the extra chanting later on pushes that back still. Maybe YOaTI could've gotten my vote if it faced the megalovania version I liked less...though eh probably not. It is close though. They all kind of are. Bonus Match is weird because it's like EBMV is an "unfinished / in progress" version of HSMV but that 'more-of-a-finished' version adds stuff I don't like, like that electric guitar. Still the positive additions ultimately wind up outweighing the negative ones.
