Oh hey nice, Cute colorful stylized Indie Puzzle games are some of my favorite stuff, so I have a feeling I'm really gonna like a lot of this list!

In a way I'm pretty happy to see 868-Hack on this list as I know it because the guy who made it also made one of my personal favorite games that I maybe like more than I should, Corrypt. Michael Brough has done some pretty cool weird stuff

I think my main idea for this would involve a spreadsheet keeping track of everyone's numbers of both nominations and also supports that have officially gotten in, and then adding up those numbers from the nominator & supporters of each song and keeping track of that number set as well. From there I'd see what user (or users if there's a tie) has the lowest "score" number in either "nominations" or "supports," then check all the songs in the tier in question that they nominated / supported depending on which "score" they are low on, and seeing which of those has the lowest combined score, and then officially pushing that song in and updating all the numbers and repeating the process from there. Might be kind of complicated and I might be bad at explaining, but this is the sort of calculations I love doing.

The two biggest issues in question are probably whether or not to count an initial nomination as a "support" or not for that tally (I feel like probably), and also how to properly score the "nominations" and "supports" categories against each other. My gut instinct says to do something like "(n^2) - 0.1" for the nominations total where n = number of nominations in, and the - 0.1 is for it to have priority over the supports total. Came up with that off the top of my head, I wouldn't doubt there's probably a better solution for that out there but hopefully you get the idea I'm getting at.

Talos was pretty good. I didn't really get as into the puzzles as other games but it's still worth a play for a puzzle game. I do think The Witness & Baba is You are better, particularly Baba is You. The Witness to me seems like a great puzzle game if you're still new to puzzle games, but even if you're more experienced it's still good.

If you're looking for more "puzzles in general" types of games, Snakebird is another good choice similar to Baba. Cute graphics but very tricky puzzles. Probably not as much content as Baba though, but still real good. I've heard Stephen's Sausage Roll is on a similar level to Snakebird but minus the cute graphics. Also I guess the Snakebird puzzles could be considered so hard that they made a sequel with easier puzzles called Snakebird Primer.

For more 3D exploration types of games, Fract OSC, Antichamber, and Quern are a few good ones. If you like the old myst games of course there's Obduction, their more recent-ish take on that style of game. For more games even more like the old Myst games, the Rhem series is a personal favorite of mine, though it uses the slideshow point-and-click style of control like those old games rather than full 3D movement. The Rhem games have extremely barebones story and not too lively environments, but the puzzles are top notch if you like puzzles so complex you'll probably need to take notes yourself, which I certainly do

Also on the lines of VGMC discussion, I still strongly stand by the idea of getting rid of the "random" selection for the last tier that doesn't make the cut into the bracket, and using more of an algorithm for it, based on the number of nominations & supports that are already getting in from everyone involved in the songs in that tier & stuff like that. Like if someone's only chance at getting 1 nomination in is up for grabs in that tier I say throw them a bone and let that song get in. Though weighing all the options well could take some fine tuning. I'd be willing to help do the active calculations when the time is needed if this idea takes off though !

Don't remember, probably around 9 years old. I remember that year I was questioning it & came up with a surprisingly clever way to test -- I'd ask for something so simple & generic that Santa should have no issues with, but also so specific & hard to find that my parents probably would -- Specifically, a yellow ball with blue spots. I probably even made a big deal about me really wanting it precisely like that (and also probably didn't have that much else on my list). Ultimately it didn't actually matter -- that very year I wandered into my parent's room on christmas eve because I had left a toy in there a few days before, and I saw this huge pile under their covers with a single little toy sticking out. I got that toy in my stocking the next day. Credit to my parents for their attempt with the ball though, I did get a yellow soccer ball with blue spots drawn in with marker.

so I guess I probably missed all the best black friday deals from dealing with way too much in my life, are there still any good deals on a new desktop out there? I still barely know where or what to look for.

For what it's worth I guess my budget is about $500, I really don't think I need something that powerful graphic-wise since aside from a handful of games I want to play like Obduction or No Man's Sky, most games I'd play on it are either retro stuff or really simple indie games, but I would also want to use it for complex video editing if that matters at all. Additionally I do have a new-ish 2TB external hard drive that I can use for it so space might not need to be a big concern.

my take on this is I have no issues with the number of rakes for the joke but personally the fact that it is the exact same animation repeated, complete with zooming back in & out to do so, that comes off as a bit cheaply done to me. Had it stayed zoomed out when it zoomed out the first time, even if it looped which rakes he hit from there, I think it would be better.

Hi I'm gonna jump in here too and say that I too am looking into either getting a new computer or upgrading the one I have. Except I don't know a lot of stuff so I'm looking for advice.

The computer I have is fairly old but ran fine up until the graphics card seems to have broken (that'd be the main thing I want to upgrade anyway). I don't plan on playing a lot of extreme ridiculous high definition games, I mostly just play indie games with simple stylized graphics, but I do want to play Obduction & No Man's Sky, which didn't work on my old graphics card. Also I plan on doing plenty of video editing. But that's about it in terms of what would probably push things I guess. Dunno how to measure for that.

Computer specs are that it's Windows 7 64-bit, 8GB of RAM, and Intel Core i7 CPU K 875 @ 2.93GHz. I think that's what's important? Part of the reason I want to keep it is Windows 10 sort of rubs me the wrong way, but also price is a pretty big thing too where I don't know costs it might be cost effective just to get a new one altogether I dunno whoops. Advice is appreciated thanks

There is something funny about seeing this specific clip getting spread around as much as I've seen (saw it in the previous topic here too), considering what happens right after it's cut off -- the rabbit gets hit from an invisible G-Max, both pokemon stand at 0 HP, and the game just hangs indefinitely. Of course this was the guy who used hacks in his game so this is likely not something that would happen in normal playthroughs, but I just find that kind of funny.

This seems like a fun, special voting bit for the last match, which sort of feels like a shame in that both of these games feel very similar to me in some ways of how I look at things (the songs from these two games tend to be sort of lengthy, anime sounding songs with a focus on realistic, at least semi-traditional instruments, but with more digital synthy backing elements) something like that. Match 1 is probably my favorite setlist vs. my least favorite setlist among those that are left... which may not be saying much considering we're down to 10. Though it may (may) still apply even if you include the snubs left too (probably not though there's at least one in there that'd Probably get rated even lower). That said, Engage the Enemy is certainly one of XC's better songs if you ask me. Some real nice stuff, makes a "my favorite vs. least favorite" thing much closer than you might think but I'd still go with Float Age in the end.

match 1: possibly the weakest Dodon Pachirisu song for me so far but that's not saying much because I loved the 3 previous songs and so this song is still good and so is the opponent over does. Kind of a tricky match, both have strengths over the other. Ultimately what it came down to me were those dang strings in overdose. really don't like 'em

match 2: gaur plains is plains ong, very average for me. it's ok. nothing more to say. Whereas AGHR is still a soundtrack I really love and Suburbs is my 2nd favorite track. Very "cool" nightish theme to start and then wow we get to :35 haha I Love this section so much. That one SOUND out in front demanding attention and leading the song in a strong different mood while wild things go on behind it like that keyboard synth type sound going along those quick paths of sequentially fluttering notes, And then the section just kinda keeps on going for a bit !! sadly this fun section is not in the "2nd looping" of the song where it's replace with a calmer interlude but oh well it's a very good song I love it.

First match is good, the sorts of stuff winners brackets ought to be, both great stuff but Lillie's enroute to Levitate Inn is more my thing

I don't particularly care for SMB2 Amusement Park (as much as some other SMB2 songs), but I sort of struggle to pinpoint exactly why. I guess maybe it's just too happy / "cutesy" (I can really like cute stuff but not so much cutesy stuff there is a difference!). The calmer respite part of the song at :44's real nice though. I'm not exactly all that into coal mine dot nu river too much either, so this is still a fairly close one for me
