The honest truth? This website is outdated and will never be relevant again in any capacity. Our ship has sailed, and the only real courses of action are either satisfy the people they actually still have (which isn't happening, because Fandom clearly doesn't give a damn about us) or just shut the site down. With how they've been handling things? The website is better off closed.

My opinion is that you do not actually care about what anyone's opinion on this is. I think you like to continually bring up subjects like this as a not so sly way of continually implying the average user base of this website are losers and it's honestly fucking tiring. Get a new gimmick.

Judo in my specific case. I mentioned tani otoshi because it is infamous for ruining knees. There are similar things that are avoided in wrestling, and even further in jujutsu, which partly originates from old timey battlefields. Hell, jujutsu is only recognized as a grappling art now because of how much has been cut from it. Originally had weapons, strikes, gouging, you name it. Had to evolve with the times both for political reasons, and to, you know, not have blind crippled people not wanting to keep paying them.

I used to think similarly to you, about practice needing to replicate execution, but recently I've seen how a lot of MT practice is more repetition and conditioning, and MT champs tend to dominate if they venture into other combat sports. The key difference simply being that preservation allows for more experience, but also that kicking a tree isn't too different from kicking a leg.

For me, it's martial arts safety vs practical application. There are things you just don't risk in practice, because you're going to get fucked and not practice anymore.

I noticed you closed the other topic when asked how fandom should attract new users and why closing CE would help towards that goal. You made some vague reference to CE putting people off coming to the site then ignored everyone who said you needed fifty karma to visit it before it was closed.

I guess the only other point to raise is why do you see keeping the site alive in of itself is important enough even if the solution to that goal is to remove the thing the current board users come to the site for?

Yeah Ill be sad to see the site die but Ill tell you what if they get rid of the social boards Id stop coming anyway. So it might as well be dead to me in that situation as Ill stop coming.

FYI Sterolizer, the other posters are absolutely correct in that Gamefaqs' post-2010 decline is primarily due to the decline of message boards as a medium iin favor of social media. The late implementation of inlined images probably didn't help, but I doubt it had a significant effect in the long run. Overall, Gamefaqs has performed incredibly well-- probably within the top 1% range compared to other message boards-- in all likelihood that is almost entirely due to the FAQs and the game/system pages keeping it afloat. I don't think anyone disagrees that an iphone app would help a little bit.

As has been pointed out, and as everyone knows, younger generations have very different tastes than the older ones. As you yourself said, let's plays and video guides are the big thing with younger generations. Hell, Zoomers don't even like Twitter, Youtube, or Facebook anymore, they like TikTok and Instagram. I doubt that there is anything which can change this; it's akin to brainstorming attempts to bring millennials back to cable news, talk radio, print media, and the weather channel. Okay, yes, there are differences (with the younger generations it's more of a personal taste and iphone compatibility vs obsolescence in the case of millennials. More than half of the remaining advantage of newspapers is their utility after you are done reading them.)

Ive seen you attempt to deflect criticism on what happened seemed on a subreddit. In one topic you were pushed to admitting you gave it away to this Tails person and only regain control in order to clean it up, and another you act like it was an issue where you were just too hands off until the mass marking by another party forced you to act.

1. Summer 2023 I offload it to tails would later become the deathmatch crew with the basic message of screw it, you can have it, leave me alone, only to come back a month later after I see just how bad it got (became what Deathmatch would become) so I cleaned it up. Made rules. Moderated. Promoted new mods. Told Tails to stand down, etc
2. Late 2023 the place had devolved into deathmatch again. So much marked messages I decided to make a harder stand cleaning it up. I did, and banned people. Really turned it around. Then tried to offload it to someone who would actually maintain it correctly. Tried to give it to @DoesntMatter actually.

Hey Ive asked this multiple times in multiple topics but you keep on ignoring me.

How does making CE read only and banning political talk across the site help increase traffic to the site at all? I think most of us agree that if the site is to stay alive some changes are required but the issue is nothing we have seen from fandom so far looks to be implemented to aid in that goal. As well as answering my direct question above can you elaborate on what changes fandom have made so far that will increase football to the site both in terms of ad hoc users and more importantly repeat visitors who will want to stay?
