That one recently passed into the public domain, at least in the U.S.

I highly recommend watching a version with the Voices of Light soundtrack - https://youtu.be/NS_s6jrHnFE

Though The Shining towards the top of people's lists feels kind of default judging against the rest of the list, I dare anyone who listed it as #1 to watch it again in a theatre or without any distractions (book/phone/Shining as background) and see how it holds up to you. The movie is a slog.

Hey now, I gave every entry my full attention at least once and it wasn't hard for The Shining! I think the fact that we can even attend theatrical screenings of this 40-year-old movie speaks to how well it holds up, few movies enjoy that kind of longevity.

If you're getting distracted by books while watching movies that just sounds like a focus problem

Speaking of best performances on the list, Goldblum crushes the behavioral/dispositional transformation here. I think he sells it in a way that makes it look easier than it is.

Great movie, the best surprise on the list. I watched all of the movies in chronological order and then went back to Possession for seconds because nothing else went that hard (that I hadn't seen before)

It's bound to be Nightmare on Elm Street next

Evil Dead II took me a while to come around on, when I first saw it I was disappointed that it eschewed the grisly, threatening vibe of the first movie and took a more cheesy parodical direction instead. On top of which, it mucks up the continuity. I really had to mentally decouple it from the original to get into it.

At this point I wouldn't be surprised if the next one is Beetlejuice and we're gonna have one sad Tim Burton fan

As for my placement of Basket Case/Tetsuo, the critical difference there is that Tetsuo doesn't bore me. I put that one at 5 precisely because it has a high "fun to watch" watch value, not because of any high-brow meaning or metaphor. This is a movie where a guy gets stop-motion rocket boots

Henry is unkillable, let's go with Videodrome

I had no idea that Fright Night was that well-liked, to the point where people consider it superior to Child's Play. Chucky is so iconic, whereas the only time I've ever heard anyone refer to Fright Night was Herschel Walker on the campaign trail.

Save the titan blood for weapon upgrades, and go for gemstones early on because there are a few functional things to buy with them before they become the currency for cosmetics. The broker will always have one unique deal after each run so it's worth checking every time.

Also, if you're using a controller the trick with the fishing is to go by the visual indication and not the controller vibration. It took me a long time to figure out you can get a 'perfect catch' if you hit it right on and produce rarer fish/items.
