A 22 year old who just finished college is a lot more major league ready than an 18 year old. With baseball's astronomical rate of failure, I'd much rather secure a degree and then take my shot at the majors than spend my life like Crash Davis. The #1 pick in last year's Draft, Gerrit Cole, got drafted by the Yankees out of high school and turned them down to go to school and refine his game instead of doing it while playing for some bumble**** Single-A team. He was considered the #1 talent out of high school too, the only reason he fell to the Yankees was because teams knew he had his sights set on school and the Yankees decided to take a flier and try to land a #1 talent in the 30s by offering him a big contract. He turned them down.

Uh...how many high school pitchers in history have gone straight to high level minor league baseball or the majors? Because I'm pretty sure Stephen Strasburg is literally the only one in history.

you're taking whatever marketing potential abyss has and tossing it for a relatively stupid angle

and while we know that joseph park is actually abyss and knows how to wrestle, he's portraying a character that doesn't know how to wrestle, and thus the match will suck

Great episode. Daenerys's stuff was amazing. I can't believe she locked her handmaiden in there, she was awesome. Did she lock that one guy in there in the book? I kinda forgot what happened there.

Tyrion's scene could have been handled better.
i can't tell them apart, was that the handmaiden she was close with (the one who was helping her feed the dragons when they first got to qarth) or the one that was watching them and being all snooty

i assume the one she was close with was the one that was dead when she discovered the dragons were gone?

i should add that i don't blame cuse and lindelof really, it was their right to make their show however they wanted

you gotta remember that you never know when a show is gonna be a hit, lost could have lasted one episode so it's extremely difficult to plan long term

the purgatory idea (if it's what they planned from the beginning, which i think they did) was a good one, but unfortunately for them their fanbase was a little too smart for their own good and figured it out. what they should have done was just ignored it and kept going and not gone through all the trouble of denying it on the show and IRL.

and for the record, i really liked season 6. i only disliked the finale.

I think he means the fact that that was the popular theory at the time which they vehemently denied using. Turning around and using it later on, albeit in a different venue, is kind of a cop-out, and doesn't inspire confidence that that wasn't the original intent with the island as people were guessing in the first place.

i'm not saying they were dead the whole time (even though i think they were originally planned to be during season 1)

what i'm saying is, everybody figured out that they were in purgatory, cuse and lindelof said "lol no" and scrambled to show that they were alive the whole time, and then when everybody least expected it they made purgatory the big twist again

still one of the best shows ever to grace network tv
the fact that it's the best show to ever be on network (or pretty much anything non-HBO) is the problem. that's what makes the series finale so disappointing. it was cuse and lindelof basically admitting that they were making it all up as they went along without a concrete ending when they swore the whole time that they weren't. they also swore in season 1 that they weren't in purgatory.
