Ive always maintained that both the show and the comic went downhill once Negan was introduced. I liked everything up to his initial introduction and epic Lucille scene. Everything after was meh. I stopped watching the show when they defeated Negan. I stopped reading the comic midway through the next arc I believe. The comic right after where Rick accidentally killed Sherry. The one where Negan defended Rick for that. That was the last comic I read.

Also, this set up is actually not that uncommon, although it probably is for a mall. Its actually the set up that lots of buildings in a large downtown area would have. I knew a guy that worked in downtown Dallas and had to pay for his own parking to go to work. I agree that its BS

If not purchased by the employer, individual employees may purchase the passes themselves.

If Im reading this right, the mall itself is not providing free parking, but most likely the vast majority of the employers inside the mall would buy parking validation and therefore their actual employees would indeed have free parking.

That being said, there could obviously be some crappy employers that dont purchase validation, but I would guess that they would be relatively few..

That being said, I like to see how people play the games that I enjoy. Its always interesting to me the different decisions that they make vs what I make. Also I like to see how people react to certain scenes in different games when they are playing it for the first time. Also I just think that the strategies and shortcuts that people use while speed running are fascinating in general.

Years and years ago I worked in the produce section of a grocery store. The guy that was hired mainly to bring the product in from the daily truck deliveries and put it all away (a very annoying, physical and tiring job that had to be done mostly in cold temperatures) quit in the middle of his shift one day. The look on his face as he was walking out has always stuck with me. I didnt realize that he was walking out at that moment, I just thought he was going on break or something. Didnt realize that his facial expression was one of a guy that was done with that BS.

Then may be confusing it with a grace period for suicide.

Also, wow that sentence just... Felt weird... If that makes any sense
I can only speak for the company that I worked for, which is considered to be one among the top 3 in the industry, and even that company only had a two year suicide grace period. I doubt many other companies would do much better than that to be honest.

But this scenario would be different than that cause the husband is the both the cause of her death and the beneficiary. This would surely get filed under insurance fraud so the payout in this one would be tricky regardless of how long the policy was in force for.

I don't know where you guys are getting this information, but it is flat out wrong. The companies we worked with in my 6 years in an insurance business covered you from date of the application.
Same. I was wondering where people were getting that from cause every company I worked with (one main very large company plus a few others from time to time when the large one wouldnt underwrite specific clients) as well covered you from the moment you signed the application AND completed the physical. Even before they finished actually underwriting/processing it all.

If there is some company out there that only enforces policies 6 months post application, Id have to imagine that that company is not reputable AT ALL. But then again given how regulated the insurance business is, Im not sure thats even possible.

Does this happen frequently?
Frequently might not be the best word but its bound to happen to you or another agent that you know at some point if you are in the business long enough. For example I saw a scenario where a woman literally had just signed the paperwork and did the physical and died in a car wreck on the way home. We still underwrote the case and since she would have been covered otherwise, we still enforced the policy and then paid the full death benefit out to her family, without a fight.

That being said, I never personally saw a case where one spouse killed another, With the killer spouse being the beneficiary. So this scenario would be more tricky. I can guarantee that the killer spouse wont get the money although its possible that either her family will get it (if she had contingent beneficiaries) or her estate. However I would not be surprised at all if the company did not pay out in this scenario because there are clauses for foul play and what not in the contract.

That being said, insurance companies are more likely to payout in scenarios like this if the policy was enforced long enough. For example, the company I worked for would not payout if you committed suicide within 2 years of the policy being enforced. After the two years though, they would pay, without a fight.

pretty sure most life insurance plans do not immediately start covering, at least for the full amount.
This is not true actually. With any reputable life insurance company, you are covered from the moment you sign all the paperwork and do your physical/ health test. At this point during underwriting you are covered, and they will still go through the underwriting process as if you are still alive. If you would have been approved if you were alive, your family will get the payout.

Source: Working 3 years in the life insurance business and seeing this type of scenario playing out on more than one occasion.

Now, where this scenario is different is that he is the one that killed her and he was also the beneficiary. So no, in this case the payout would most likely not happen unless she had contingent beneficiaries for the money to be paid to. But I would still be surprised if it happened.

TopicOut of all religions, Buddhism is the one that makes more sense to me.
Twin3Turbo

This is a post I saved on Reddit from a long while back, but it pretty much sums up my thoughts:

Don't make the naive mistake of romanticizing "eastern" religion.

Monotheist god or no, Buddhism is full of spirits, demons, godlings, or whatever you want to call the "evil spirits" in Buddhist hell. It is not "atheistic."

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Buddhist_deities

Its conclusions are based on the same magical thinking as any religion, and its followers can be just as wacky and extreme, even to murder for religion (Myanmar).

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Magical_thinking

People in "the west" idolize this "not a religion" religion because they have no direct experience with it and its just as fundy and flaky followers, and all the other negative baggage that any western religion has.

Yes, there is proselytism too. The newer sects have the same door-to-door routine as JWs, and use entrapment tactics where they invite you to dinner or something (always outnumbering you) without telling you that halfway through the meal they are going to pull out pamphlets and make their sales pitches. Old sects make money from being one of the few places you can have a grave, which is expensive.

If you want a non-supernatural religion, I think you don't know what religion is. Gods are irrelevant; they are a product of that world view. Magical/wishful thinking (or "faith") is the defining characteristic.

As a whole? It's wholly made-up viral nonsense just like any other magical thinking.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Criticism_of_Buddhism

Yes, there is this:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Secular_Buddhism

but it only exists as an attempt at "safe religion" by wannabe atheists who really miss their magic, because the wishful thinking is still all there. You may disagree, that's fine, but in my 30+ years in Japan, I have never seen a Buddhist sect without its supernatural trappings or a Buddhist who doesn't believe in the afterlife/reincarnation and spirits. Zen is not free from this magical thinking either.

It is my humble opinion that if you are atheist solely because you do not believe in gods you are missing the point. Yes, that is "what is in the dictionary," but is the worship of a god the only criticism you have of religion? If so, fine, I suppose. But isn't that just a minor technicality? Why is a deva OK but a god not?

She should have just married anyway, state will throw out the prenup most of the time. All that ho ing for nothing.
Just to help some people out, this isnt really true.

You really need 4 things in order to have an iron clad prenup

  1. the prenup needs to be drafted by an attorney. Additionally both parties need their OWN independent attorney explain whats in the prenup and advocate for them. This way neither party can say that they didnt understand what was in the prenup.
  2. the prenup needs to be signed at least six months in advance. Can it be signed four months in advance and still be held up, sure but the closer to the wedding date, the more chance of it being thrown out because the person can use the duress claim.
  3. do not hide any assets. This one is obvious. If you do this it will be considered defrauding the court.
  4. it needs to be fair. This is a tricky one cause what you consider fair and what the judge considers fair might be different. That being said, obvious stuff like if we divorce I get everything and you get absolutely nothing will most likely be considered unfair
Per my friend who is a 20 year divorce attorney in Georgia, he has never seen a prenup that followed the above rules be thrown out. Every one that has been thrown out broke at least one of these rules.

About a month ago I was walking down the street minding my own businesses and I notice to the left a bunch of dogs were barking. Four dogs were behind a fence in their backyard barking at..you guessed it, a pitbull in their driveway that was also barking at them. I immediately stood still for about 5 seconds wondering if it was going to notice me. About 5 seconds later it turned around (I think because the 4 dogs started barking at me in addition to barking at it) and then the damn thing immediately started chasing me. Unprovoked of course. I got away unscathed but I got lucky. Im a full grown relatively athletic and able bodied adult and also happened to be paying attention. I shudder to think about if a kid just playing around or some lesser abled bodied person had been walking by instead. Fuck pitbulls.

Pretty much littered throughout that study shows that men/boys spend significantly more time playing games than women/girls, the only place where its more or less equal is phone games. Which is a whole different animal for a variety of reasons. Study also shows that men are more likely spend more time into adulthood playing and link friendships and what not more so through gaming. Cant quite link the direct parts because Im on phone but just skim.

Now does that that necessarily answer the question of men are more likely to be gamers as the poster you quoted stated, no ( really dont feel like getting into a useless argument about that constitutes a gamer) But it definitely gives insight as to why people consider gaming to more associated with men than women.

https://mashable.com/archive/astrology-women

Literally just type into Google which gender believes in astrology more and you will find article after article, study after study showing how women believe in it more. As well as how astrology is far more marketed towards women these days, etc. Also the above link shows Pew research data that confirms that there is indeed a notable gender divide, favoring women.
