At this point I'm not sure what else really Cover can do? They tried time, they tried concession, they tried sticking up for themselves.

Could have done better in supporting her I guess. Few things I could think of

1. Let her pick her own mods sooner
2. Dont ban her from collabing, especially with EN
3. Not fuck up by modding antis of all people
4. Let her do Asacoco

Some of these might be her own decisions, and maybe YouTube is cracking down again, but its hard not to think she got short changed in this situation.

The first part is pretty straightforward but the second part is very open to interpretation when the song came up, I'm impressed you managed to dig up the interview because I didn't find it at first, and they don't do a lot of interviews.

It is also extremely ironic that it has an anti-authoritarian and anti-Apple Daily message, because Apple Daily is the only anti-authoritarian newspaper here today, and it probably won't be long before it gets completely dismantled too.

The background of this song is the Chinese civil war from 1945 to 1949. The Communists won and took over the mainland, and the Nationalists retreated to Taiwan. The soldiers who went with them are not from Taiwan and forced to start new lives there because they'd be killed if they go back. After around 40 years they were allowed to return to their old homes, but everything has become unrecognizable.

A poor translation of the first few lines (the lyrics are a lot less direct than this)

There are so many questions I could ask, yet I fear that I don't actually want to know the context.

It's an attempt to modernize and attract people other than boomers. It did get a lot of attention but people who watched it think it's just weird

From what I gathered the Cantonese opera works is derived from another style of opera from China, which in turn is based on some old book or folk tale centuries ago. Im not some expert in literature so I cant really say much about them, but they are basically tragic love stories.

In any case I really appreciate the effort you take to research foreign songs despite the language and cultural barriers.

By the way, its normal to not like the opera. Hardly anyone here cares about it these days anyway.

Yeah the lyrics of Anita arent that special but the singing and music makes up for it.

After finding this I searched for their other songs and it was only then I found out they disbanded straight after. I think one of them has some solo works though, might dig up something when I have time

I regularly read hentai but can't stand futa at all. Wish it had recommended something more to my taste

My eliminations are about as expected. One that is intentional and the two songs that are pretty much nominated because I cant think of other songs back then and wanted some Vgm in there.

Labelling a single day as most important seems very reductionist, as you can always argue that they are the result of many other events and trends that does not have a clear start point. Not saying they are inevitable though.
