At least I don't say unoriginal, inane crap like "you must be fun at parties". After about the 700 millionth time that line has been used in place of "I have nothing to add to this discussion so I'm going to go for a lazy personal attack" it kind of loses its impact.

That scene was great. Littlefinger is such a snake. As soon as things get bad he's on the floor begging

pfft. All the pointless filler led up to that? What a waste.

Most of this episode felt like filler unfortunately, but my favorite part was cersei's face when she saw the wight.

Having the character that basically single-handedly orchestrated the entire chain of events of the whole show finally be boxed into a corner and meet his end in a blindside is "filler"? Sheesh, you guys are silly.

I actually mused back around episode 1 that the path of the remaining characters seemed obvious to me, save for what Littlefinger would do, since he didn't seem to have a clear purpose like the rest. Guess I was right.

The total lack of major deaths seemed very un-GoT this season.

I mean, it's been completely obvious that everyone that was left by the start of this season was important enough to make it to the very end of the saga for the final battle. Like I said, Littlefinger was the only real outlier, and that question just got answered.

Not compared to the Littlefinger scene this season was when Bran tells him that "Chaos is a ladder" and Littlefinger's smile vanishes. While that might have built to the final moments, it seemed a more epic moment.

Not really filler but yeah, the payoff was really weak. The only plus was that he was called out on everything he did... although, again, given how central he was to pretty much everything, it just made the sendoff seem weaker.

I imagine the books will handle things differently there.

I think in the book she might be younger? I can't remember. But there was a big age gap between her and her brother. She was a baby at the end of Robert's Rebellion, which is when Jon was born. Her brother Rhaegar was a young adult at the time (or he may have actually been a teenager, because people come of age earlier in ASoIaF). But regardless they're supposed to be really close in age.

Not at all. There are real life cases of aunts/uncles being same age or younger than the niece/nephew. Some parents could have had a kid in the early years and well later in their lives have another child. By around then the first kid(s) might also have their first child.

The showing of the wight was really the only good scene imo. Luckily, it's like 25 mins long.

I also kinda liked the Theon bit. Let's fucking hope he does something in these last 6 episodes.

The Littlefinger thing felt so rushed and amateur. What a pathetic way to go out for one of the smarter characters in the show.

I also hate how they pull that "lie to the viewer" and hide things just to pull a surprise twist. We even had scenes with Arya and Sansa by themselves, in a locked room, playing out a fake argument last episode...for who? For us? Makes no sense

To be fair, the last two seasons in their entirety didn't really do him justice as the 'one of the smartest characters in the show'. Honestly, I didn't expect much else.

I assume that it was meant to be real, and only recently did Sansa realize what Littlefinger was doing based on his own reasoning(assume the worst about people, etc. Which was really stupid for someone who was basically doing the worst), and apparently was informed more by it by Bran off-screen, and told Arya off-screen too.

I don't think him being killed by Arya is bad. It might happen in the books. It's either gonna be supernatural shit, Sansa, Varys, or some combination of the three. It's just that he hasn't done anything impressive in ages and got killed doing the dumbest most inconsequential scheme imaginable.

At this point it's just the details. Everything is connecting together more or less as you'd expect (I suspect the books will/would be a lot messier and more intricate at this point) but the details leave a lot of characters feeling barebones.

The show spent so many seasons going through the story at a snail's pace, now they are left tying it together. The writers would have really paced other things better. I guess they didn't want to drag the undead war out for too many seasons, but that's the big action and now there's only six episodes left to resolve things.

I suspect if the last two (three?) books had been published by now it would be different. But it's been like 7 years and no perceivable progress on that front. So we're gonna get an Avengers style team up and mostly happy ending I suspect, with a lot of minor characters killed off for shock value.

I imagine that going into the series they may have anticipated one more book getting finished. There's 2 left to wrap it up. GRRM had a lot of time to get his shit together for the television plot and pacing. It's all kind of sloppy.

And that was what I wondered about it when I saw season 1 in... 2012? There's so much unpublished, how are they going to finish it? I guess they didn't think about it much either.

Well they've been putting a lot of effort into getting everyone in the same place, so I don't think the actual show pacing will feel off. Even this season was basically boiled down to Dragonstone, King's Landing and Winterfell. Next season you're going to have almost everybody at Winterfell plus Cersei and Qyburn at King's Landing.

Maybe they will all be extra long episodes like this one.

To later be followed up with film adaptations (probably a trilogy) that will condense everything into less than half a season's worth of screen time.

After more thought I'd rank 4 with the best ones as well. There wasn't anything too bad about it and a lot happened. It was the last good season that had all the source material to work with.
