so something to consider

every time you make a save state it eats up 2MB

when I tried to add more games my save states I made today ate up all the extra room I had

So if you plan on having a lot of extra save states be wary of that

I'll probably only keep the ones for the games I'm playing then delete them when I'm done with the game.

also up to 164 games installed now

So help me out because I'm dumb:

How much free space is there? I'm only looking at a relative handful of games, some of which will require translations. If I don't overdo it then I can mess around with save states and everything.

Also, what's the Retroarch thing?

Finally, how extensive do they intend to make that spreadsheet? I want to play Brandish 2 (and maybe Expert), but I haven't seen anything yet.

so guys, I tried installing retroarch crap in my NES classic. Apparently the options are there, so its not new to the SNES classic stuff

I went to module on the top menu, went to install extra modules

and checked stuff like the SNES9 one, retroarch, the genesis, and I think maybe even the gameboy

it went through, I did the reset power thing, the green bar appeared, and so I thought it worked.

but when I plugged it into my TV, it gave me a C9 screen.

SHINE suggested I should reflash the original kernal, then reflash the custom kernal

I did

didn't work

so I reflashed the original kernal again and stopped right there. I just wanted to access the original 30 games.

I plugged it in to the TV, and my TV started flashing on and off between the "no signal" blue screen my TV has, and a black screen every 5 seconds. The black screen being my NES trying to display something, but failing, which is why it goes back to the blue screen

but it never stops.

so obviously something is still wrong. I tried uninstalling the modules but that didn't seem to do anything

what do I do?

There is about 250MB available out of the gate. Really 300 but saves, the UI and such take up some of that

What is RetroArch?
RetroArch is an emulator frontend that allows for multiple emulators (cores) to be used for a variety of consoles. Previously, RetroArch was successfully added to the NES Classic, which allowed for expanded compatibility of non-working NES games as well as games from other consoles including Atari, Sega Genesis, Game Boy Advance, and N64, just to name a few. The SNES Classic can also implement RetroArch for the same purpose.

I don't know how extensive they plan to make it. You can always just put it in and see if it works or not. If it doesn't just plug the SNES back into hakchi and remove it

so here's my list of games. I don't know if I'm gonna change it any more than this plus I'm pretty much out of space at this point so I'd have to remove something. Maybe it'll give someone an idea to what they want to add to theirs. It's actually down to 161 now because after testing a few games I realized I didn't actually want them.

It was the space thing. The original "how-to" forgot to mention a space was needed before the "--retroarch". A later post in that same thread asked about it so I got it all fixed now. Awesome to have games like Seiken Densetsu 3 playable on that bad boy. :)

So I got everything working but for some reason the English translated version of Front Mission Gun Hazard doesn't retain the internal save when I save in-game. I'll exit and my save is gone. Tested this with Chrono Trigger and Seiken Densetsu 3 and those retain saves fine so it seems so far to JUST be this rom. Thank goodness for save states, but figured I'd let people know.

So what I didn't know was you had to add " --retroarch" on the command line.

Though it was somewhat justified on my end. I modded my NES Classic and one just needed to install the modules. None of this stuff
