Well yeah, I would completely buy that Jericho would WANT to work with Punk at Wrestlemania next year, and pitch the idea to WWE. I mean, who wouldn't?
That doesn't mean WWE would go for it. Yeah it's a match I'd love to see, but I can't really envision the storyline getting there. Jericho really has nothing to do whatsoever with the sort of thing Punk is against.
Basically I can't even really begin to fantasy book a logical scenario that ends with Punk vs. Jericho at Wrestlemania. Jericho vs. Christian, Jericho vs. Orton, Jericho vs. Cena, Jericho vs. Triple H, Jericho vs. Rey, Jericho vs. Miz, even Jericho vs. Undertaker, I can see those paths. Don't see it with Punker.

Miz comes across like a corporate tool, I could see that feud working if Punk turned quasi-face for good.
But overall you're right, Punk has, in a sense, pigeonholed himself now. Once he's raged against all the major cogs of the machine, where does he go next?

Dolph could drop the belt and then move on to Punk since he was shooting his mouth off about Cena/Punk prior to their match.
I mean as an interim thing more than WM material. Could have it where Ziggler constantly calls him out then backs out of it or keeps ambushing him/screwing him.

Hell, I'm not telling you anything that you don't already know.. My WCW watchfest topic Part II: http://www.gamefaqs.com/boards/8-gamefaqs-contests/59893341
Wrestlemania XXVII did 1,059,000 buys, significantly up from Wrestlemania XXVI (885,000).
Extreme Rules 2011 did 209,000 buys, which was up from 2010 (182,000).
Over the Limit 2011 did 140,000 buys, way down from 2010 (197,000).
Capitol Punishment 2011 did 170,000 buys, up from Fatal Four Way in 2010 (143,000).
I wonder why Over the Limit was down so much while the rest were up? Orton vs. Christian was still fresh...I guess people were played out on Cena vs. Miz?

Wasn't Over The Limit the one with the I Quit match? Because Cena I Quit matches are atrocious and I'm sure everyone was just as not psyched as we were.

One thing I'm not doing in those breakdowns is researching the surrounding UFC PPVs.
Maybe there's this base 140,000 people that will just buy any garbage they toss out there and charge $45 for, but then there's another 50,000 or so on top of that who buy enticing UFC PPVs as well, and if UFC has already taken those for the month, those WWE buys go down.
That's how they explained the huge drop for WM 26 when both 25 and 27 did a lot better--26 happened to be on the same weekend as a hot UFC PPV, and the others were not.

Wow, the UFC show on the same weekend as Wrestlemania XXVI (GSP defending against Dan Hardy, Mir vs. Carwin for the Interim HW Title) did 850,000 buys. WM barely beat it that weekend, in what I assume must have been a very profitable couple days for PPV providers as middlemen.

Seriously I don't see a whole lot of rhyme or reason for these variances.
Extreme Rules 2011 with those main events looks a ton better. don't also forget that it had Christian in what seemed like his one true moment to get the belt as Edge had just left. but frankly that steel cage triple threat is sexy while a Cena LMS is 'eh.' Fatal Fourway i got nothin' outside a lot of people don't like 4-way matches. which is probably reason enough to kill it.

Stuff I found interesting from the WWE Quarterly Conference Call report:
* McMahon continued on, saying that TV ratings are slightly up across the board, and that attendance, as compared to this time last year is down 3%. Last year there was a drop of 19%, so the feeling is that they have stopped the bleeding there.
* McMahon next discussed PPV buys, noting that outside of WrestleMania that they were flat. He did note that the early numbers have Money in the Bank up 20% from last year.
* McMahon confirmed that the WWE studios film That's What I Am won awards, but that it did not matter, due to the film losing $3.3 million. He said the film was great, but that it did not appeal to the base WWE audience. He also noted that they will try to lower their production budgets.
* McMahon closed by talking about the WWE Network, saying that it would be rolling out soon. He also stated that the live USA show wouldn't necessarily have anything to do with the WWE network, and also noted that he felt the network would be a success.
* They then moved onto the question and answer session. The first question was about the Rock coming back and the use of older stars. McMahon says that it is an option, and that they would consider it. They have multiple PPV plans for the Rock.
* They were asked about the UFC potentially starting their own network and how it would affect them. Vince said it would not hurt them, and said that the UFC "fell on their butt" recently when negotiating with NBC. Vince feels that they have a ton of content to offer on the new network, including running Superstars and NXT on the network.
* When pressed on a launch date for the network, Barrios said between 12 and 18 months.
If they ever get that network launched, I may as well kiss my life goodbye.

Whoever was saying that they couldn't work Jericho Punk I beg to differ. As long as they carry Punk along with his best in the world thing then Jericho has every right to feud with him as that was his deal before he left. His thing was he was the best in the world at what he does and with him gone Punk has taken the moniker. It's a bit bare bones but its something to start from. They can go from there
-- Circle gets the Scare! Imagine if Jesus knew kung fu. That's what everyone is dealing with
On the other hand though, I'm a bit apprehensive about their obsession with getting their own cable network.
It feels like someone in 1990 or so wanting to start up their own print newspaper. TV in the sense that we know it is not a medium that is going to be viable beyond the next couple generations.

yeah, punk/jericho works with best in the world as a starting point and i'm pretty sure Jericho's pitching the idea based off of that. jericho also likes to think of himself as a rock star. no idea what his history with drugs and alcohol is though, but i don't think they need to go that route again ('straight edge lol' is a horrible message and is dull as hell). Jericho returning as a tweener works too, and hey maybe he can have his first singles win over Cena! cause dammit he needs it.
