Hello, and welcome to another one of these polls geared toward the hairy chested sex. There's not much complicated about this one, but I still want to clarify some stuff in the (possibly futile) hopes of accurate results:

1. Simply post your CURRENT single-rep bench press max (either pounds or kilos, but I prefer pounds).
2. An estimate is allowed, but only if you have benched in the past and are confident your estimate is reasonably accurate.
3. If you have not benched or have had significant changes in your weight/physique/health/muscle mass and really have no clue what your max would be today, please do not estimate.

Not expecting high votals today. Not only is it a bit of a willy waving subject, but benching is something not everyone does. Still, let's see how it goes.

My max was 290 in high school.

Then I stopped working out, but I still lift every now and then, I also weigh much more than I did.

My max now is in the 225-235 range.

320 a couple years ago...

I'm going to guess it's probably around 240-250ish now, since I've essentially stopped lifting.

Yeah, I kind of expected it. The average Board 8er might end up with like a 240 lb bench despite weighing 160. ****ing savage!

And stingers, you could have been a monster if you were benching 140 back at age 14. Most bodies that age really haven't developed much muscle mass. I remember testing bench maxes back then for football, and the average bench was like 75 lbs.

Really? That's surprisingly small, I remember testing for football my freshman year, mine was @ 115 I think, the average was 95.

I don't know, I did 130 freshman year of high school. I weighed about 115 at the time but I was done growing. I could never be a monster at lifting weights since I'm built for distance running.

I got up to 130 back then because I had a gym teacher who made us lift weights every day. All the football players in my gym class could lift more than I could.

I guess it depends on when you were tested. I'm pretty sure I was benching over 150 in freshman year, but I was a bulky kid with developed muscle mass. Most of the guys were under 100 before starting football but got much stronger after just one lifting season.

Some of these are ridiculously low. I mean, to reiterate, this is how much you can life one time, not how much you can rep.

That being said I'm at about 225 now. In high school it was at 190, and I never lifted in HS.

225.

This was 9 years ago though. The last time I benched I was actually out of the country, and don't remember how much I put up. I'd say I'm stronger today than I was in highschool. It's sad though that I still don't go to a gym (I work out on my own at home. One of my goals was to get up to 350-400.

I think when I graduated, it was like 70 pounds. Then three years later, I had to take a college PE class, and despite never working out at all before then, I could somehow bench 120. It was weird.

Haven't done it since then, so I'll just say 120.

My high school gym coach used to tell me that everyone should be able to bench two times their body weight.

I wasn't able to reach that in high school (at the time, it would have been 310-320 lbs), I think I got up to 260. I haven't bench pressed since then (17 years later).

2x body weight is too much for the standard of what everyone should be able to bench. You should be able to do your body weight though, even if it's just a single rep. It's a pretty good indication that you're not unhealthily weak.

Anyway my current max is 240

Maybe if they're an elite wrestler or something. A vast majority of high school football players can't even do that, let alone everyone.
