Only Muffin would hate on an undercard storyline being attempted.

Though he does like TNA, where nothing but the main event matters!

Except the "undercard storyline" they're attempting is "former main-eventers are mad at being in the undercard"

Whoa, that's real original! Also completely predictable because the only way they can succeed is by getting back to the main event, which, judging by the current situation, is sure as hell not happening any time soon.

This is pretty much the opposite of what TNA does. This is a WWE problem more than anything. TNA definitely tries, there.

TNA's whole problem is they try a bunch of random crap with their undercard and then never follow through with it. In fact, if nothing comes of this conspiracy thing this is pretty much vintage TNA booking, really.

Dude, TNA will try something for a week and then it's back to cramming whatever is happening in the main event down our throats again, only for them to try something different a few weeks later and repeat.

Or they, you know, continue to wreck the undercard and provide a heel force there for faces to deal with.

That's what I just said yes.

You said they don't try. I said they try often, but don't follow through. There's a difference!

Keep in mind I'm not trying to imply TNA's approach to the undercard is better-- they're both terrible. But I have to say TNA in theory has more potential if they didn't have someone on drugs at the helm.

And the reason TNA's approach has more potential cause if they had any sense they could realize that some of the stuff they throw at a wall is sticking and follow through with that too. Trying and failing is better than just not trying, assuming you have someone with sense at the helm.

Lopen, my dear friend... Where did I say they don't try? I implied that only the main event matters in TNA. That doesn't mean I said they don't try. It means I said that, in the end, that's all that ends up mattering.

You inferred something from my post that was not there.

Well you seemed to imply that him disliking attempts at undercard storylines was a product of watching TNA.

... which... okay... actually, that makes sense now, in some twisted way, seeing as he has no doubt seen so many attempts fail.

I know we go over this all the time but it still amazes me just how horrible Lawler is these days. What exactly is the point of him spending all match two weeks in a row ranting about how the tag champs have never done anything, aren't impressive, etc? What is the point of him saying, during the main event between the top star in the company and the biggest current thing in wrestling, "He's not that good" about Punk?

Vince won't fire Lawler because he doesn't have anyone to replace him with. Who else does he actually have faith in? Lawler can speak coherently (even if it's always stupid), the other options are what, Striker (who Vince seems to hate), Grisham or Stanford (the former Vince seems to not be a fan of, the latter I think is pretty new)?

I wasn't happy about Nash showing up at SummerSlam. I didn't like him showing up on Raw the next night either but they needed to explain what happened so it was pretty necessary. But after his thing last week of "i got da txt", we really didn't need to see him again. The story was no longer anything to do with him, since we knew what had happened with him: he went to see a show, got a text from Triple H's phone, and attacked. Simple, direct, done.

But now he's back and we're probably getting Punk vs Nash at Night of Champions, even though neither one of them is a champion right now? Unless you count Punk as the champion of our hearts, and Nash as the champion of the Largest Space Between Nose and Lip Contest. Seriously, what is that.

Bring in Josh Matthews. He and Cole worked well together on NXT. And Saxton is supposed to be fantastic, but I think he is another heel announcer.

Truth/Miz promo was pointless. Where exactly do you expect it to lead? They say they're going to "take" their opportunity. How exactly? By beating up Santino Marella? Yeah, that'll do them a TON of good <_<

Apparently after Raw went off the air they came down and beat up Punk and Cena. Until Punk and Cena united and beat them up anyway. Then Cena raised Punk's hand and left him to celebrate in the ring.

Unpopular Opinion time!

I think Otunga/McGuillicuty make a good team. I had never seen them wrestle as a team prior to a week ago when they first faced Kofi/Evan, but I was actually impressed. Without saying a word they got over their arrogant "i'm better than you" gimmick, they mesh well together, and they work very well together. Watching them in the ring was like watching the tag teams of old. Their offense flows together, they have great combo moves and chains, they actually tag back and forth, and they have their gimmick down. Hennig especially. Are they great in the ring? No. But as a tag team they don't have to be because their limited offense isn't as noticable and they have enough team moves and chains to keep things interesting. Those two have grown a ton since I watched them on NXT, and given some more time they could be legitimately good. Too bad King has buried them to such a point that noone will ever care about them or notice anything they do. I was so pissed as he was calling them boring and saying "show me something" while they are hitting great team moves and really showing some character (I loved Hennig yelling at Lawler after a big move and him still ignoring it). It's like King isn't even watching the match.

I will take them over Kofi and Evan in a second. I like real tag teams, not "Wrestler A and Wrestler B team up for a while" teams. Right now that is all they are. Their offense should work really well together, but instead the only time they actually work together is to set up that finisher combo. They don't break pins, they don't tag unless they have to, they don't work together at all. The only thing they do right is come out together, but even then there is no actual interaction in their entrances, they just both happen to be doing them at the same time. I hope that they get it to work like Kane and Big Show did, but Kane could be put with anyone and he would make it a legitimate tag team (see: HurriKane).

Byron Saxton is a much better character than an announcer. And he's my favorite WWE announcer too.

Also, Otunga and McGillicutty did step it up this week. Otunga is still god f***ing awful though. The main issue is that neither guy had any credibility. They just randomly won the titles and jobbed forever and only won when they were for the titles. They aren't a decent tag team otherwise because they were "those Nexus guys" and then they became "those old Nexus guys who are cocky, sorta." There was no transition in character from after Punk disowned them and we have no sense of character because they've never gotten promo time.

Well I hope they stay together for a while, and actually do something. I like the padding on the outside they have, I enjoy the entrance and their look and the "it factor", now they just need something in the core, and hopefully being in a tag team for a while will help them with that (as long as they get some wrestling in and not get squashed by Big Show or something).

Personally, I think we're gonna see a change in the announce team disposition. Cole during Raw was less heel than usual, and really didn't do any of his cheap burials. Lawler on the other hand was acting more of the heel than usual. Personally I think Lawler might go back to his old corporate heel role that he had, but I'm not so sure.

Anyways, I liked Raw. I just hope WCW Fall Brawl (6:00 PM CDT) watchfest will be as fun.

Anybody have any ideas for what to include in a Monday Night RAW drinking game? A couple of ideas I have are:

A drink for every time somebody uses a catchphrase
A drink for every time somebody is interrupted by entrance music
A drink for every time the crowd unanimously shouts "WHAT"
A shot for every minute the divas match lasts
A drink for every botch

I feel like I need more superstar specific ones, though.
