Since training camp is approaching and fantasy hockey is gearing up I figured it was a good time to make another NHL topic.
Recent News:
James van Riemsdyk signed a six-year, $25.5 million dollar extension today.
The Coyotes traded Stempniak to Calgary for Daymond Langkow.
Logan Couture signed a 2 year extension with San Jose.
Sidney Crosby has been seeing concussion specialists across the U.S. and of course there is a ton of speculation as to whether he has to restart his rehab.
Yahoo! Fantasy Hockey is open and mock drafts are working.
How much interest is there in having a Board 8 Fantasy Hockey League again this year?
Not Dave posted... let me into the fantasy league this year you dicks
Hopefully icon gets in here (or posts in the ATTN topic I made for him) so we can see if he's renewing the league from last year! If not, then I'd be happy to start up a Board 8 league.
I'll sign up again. I've been near the top the past few years. Hopefully the league will be a little more active this year; I think half the people who joined last year didn't even check on it after the first week or so.
Oh yeah, everyone state their preferred draft time. I'm partial to Saturday/Sunday at 9-10AM PST, or late at night on a week day.
This Wade Belak stuff is strange. The Vancouver Sun is reporting an accidental overdose. I have a friend that works there and she says the source is solid, but I dunno. A sombre off-season for sure.

Evenings work best for me since my work and school schedules are a bit unpredictable in terms of a what days I work. I will likely work weekends but am free during the evening.

Yeah, the Kings black and purple jersey is one of the best in the game.
But they've been wearing the stupid boring shield ones so much, I think all Kings fans saw this coming. Pretty sure they wore them in EVERY home playoff game last year.

Dustin Byfuglien was arrested for drunken boating and apparently weighed in at 290 pounds. Perhaps that fat (lulz) new deal he signed has taken away some of his drive and motivation.
From: Not Dave | #034 seems like everyone is down on the Flyers, but Bryz got a team with a lot less talent to the playoffs last year. they'll do well.
They let over half their goals from last season go to make cap room for him. I understand Carter/Richards were considered negative influences, and Leino got overpaid by Buffalo, but it's still a lot of goal differential for Bryz and what is mostly a batch of unspectacular replacement signings to make up. Giroux and JVR look like they'll keep improving, sure, but I doubt they'll be that much better. And Pronger is only getting older and coming off another surgery.
I'd love to be proven wrong, but on paper I can't see how this is a better team than last year's, even with Bryzgalov. Really hope I'm wrong, though.

invites sent out to returning managers I recognize. I set the draft to Sunday, October 2nd at 10:30AM. If that doesn't work for you guys, just tell me. plenty of time change!
I'm getting this message when trying to join: There is not room in this league if all teams from last year return. To join, get the commissioner to increase the maximum number of teams, or remove teams that will not be returning.
So I guess I'll wait and see if someone doesn't join back up and then hop in.
