If Galaxy 2 loses, it'll IMO be a worse result than any of Super Metroid's losses.

Nothing's worse than Super Metroid losing! ....However, the only reason I voted for SOTN over it last week was because I knew Super Metroid was pretty screwed up in the rankings. However, there was hope for SOTN! SOTN's one of those games I respect a lot.

Now, if I voted for Super Metroid it could have caused both Super Metroid and SOTN to possibly be screwed over.... (if I had vote SM the match would have gone to overtime, and if SOTN lost, SOTN probably would NEVER have seen the Top 25)

Anybody else besides me vote strategically like that? I hope you don't hate me for that! I don't do that everyday...

I'm sure many of you can relate to pity-voting a much weaker game if you don't have a strong preference between the two games, though.

So Paper Mario can defeat A Link to the Past, but Galaxy 2 can't defeat Ocarina of Time? Yikes. Not that I particularly mind OoT > SMG2, but yeah, that IS a worse result than any of Super Metroid's losses.

One vote was disqualified for being a suspected alt. With his vote, Crash and Galaxy 2 would've won outright.

He also voted again in the overtime, which would've sent Crash-MVC3 to Leon for the deciding vote.

And it wasn't really "making it a close match". B/W reached 10 votes quicker than any other game, even eventual blowout kings SMW and GSC, and actually had a double-digit lead at one point. SMB3 got 17 of the final 20 votes and finished on a 10-0 run. I also wouldn't consider it a case of "pity voting"--we have enough direct results to create a hierarchy of the five Pokémon generations. RBY > B/W > GSC > DPP > RSE (with bonus RBY > DPP and GSC > RSE direct results). B/W beat GSC by four votes, which is tied for the largest margin of defeat that GSC has suffered, and the 46.15% that GSC got was its lowest of any week. GSC's other three losses were to current members of the top 25--a four-vote loss to #25 Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney: Trials & Tribulations and one-vote losses to #11 Metal Gear Solid and #24 Star Fox 64. B/W's resume isn't too shabby, either, although it could use some more quality wins (wins over MMX, the aforementioned GSC, and SSB are all pretty nice, though.)

Let's just go with Smash. I'm too lazy to really think about this one.

Smash should paste KH, I am fully confident on that. While it's true that FFX has a one-vote win over Kirby 64, it also has a two-vote loss to...Super Mario 64, so I think SF64 is dead.

I think SotC will edge out HL2 in that match. San Andreas got 32% on KH2 in week 14, and next week, it faces HL2 and gets...47%. SotC had an equal result to San Andreas against KH2 when it was facing a much stronger opponent in MGS2, and HL2's near-loss makes me think people badly want to expose HL2 as a fraud. Heck, both HL2 and FF8 (and TP) have similar margins of victory against a common opponent.

Speaking of which, did my suggestion to hold HL2 vs. TP in rivalry week go unnoticed? I know it would not at all be likely to happen NOW, but still?

Not an abominable result, but I agree otherwise.

It's more abominable than any of Super Metroid's or FFVI's losses though. At least it keeps my hopes up for Super Metroid though. Plus I have a feeling that Metroid games generally overperform against Mario games and underperform against Zelda games (for instance, Metroid Prime got 44% on Mario 3 and outperformed FFVII, but lost to Wind Waker in OT anyway later on, and Super Metroid struggled just to avoid being doubled by LttP).

I actually like Brawl more than Ocarina of Time, but not more than any other 3D Zelda.

Honestly, I'd vote for StarCraft over any 3D Zelda by now!

I don't hate Ocarina of Time though. I was just saying that it's a worse result than any of Super Metroid's or Final Fantasy VI's losses. I'm just getting a feeling that Galaxy 2 constantly has to face anti-votes whenever it is against anything from the '90s or earlier due to "being too new", which I feel is extremely unfair (I thought that Galaxy 2 defeating DKC2 debunked that theory, but then DKC2 showed that it wasn't so strong after all when it lost to Castlevania). It's also extremely weird for me to believe that Ocarina of Time could possibly benefit from anti-votes when facing a Mario game, especially after A Link to the Past lost to Paper Mario.

So wait...HOW THE HECK DID PAPER MARIO BEAT A LINK TO THE PAST, BUT GALAXY 2 CAN'T EVEN BEAT OCARINA OF TIME???
