A few years back, WikiFAQs had a series called "Interview with a Moderator" in which users submitted questions to be answered by a different specific moderator every week or so. Well, it's finally coming back and is ready for questions from the users. Questions will be collected on the 3rd Degree board in a specific topic for each moderator participating. Look: I understand that mod-user relationships are at an incredibly horrible level here, and that this is "probably a bad idea", but that's still no reason to give you guys a reason to ask whatever you may want to ask. I figured that BECAUSE of this sentiment here, people may have some interesting queries to ask. But, if you all are so against it, I can disregard B8 in the future. No problem there.

Well it isn't even so much about how all of us like or dislike the mods, it is just we kind of realize what mods are: People with a few extra buttons. I have known several mods before they ever became mods, and most of them weren't very interesting before really. I mean I can understand why people would want to ask them questions, but knowing several of them for so long I don't think many on board 8 would really have any questions for them.

Understood, and I completely agree. I've never quite understood the near-worship that happens for the moderators on this site, but I'm not trying to support this ultra-praise that goes on; I'm just trying to open up interaction with them staff that is maintaining these boards to people that may not otherwise take it upon themselves to socialize with the staff, you know?

The problem with these topics is that every time we're asked our opinion on mods, it turns into a death trap. The second you say anything negative about a mod, dozens are b8ers are getting warned, banned, etc. Even the ones who are giving legitimate opinions and not trolling tend to end up among the casualties.

It was a brutal day. Many accounts were injured, some fatally.
Yeah, I'm aware of the incident you guys are referring to. What I meant was that Commodore said "The problem with these topics", and I was just saying that I didn't recall anyone in this topic asking for people's opinions on the mods. >_>

Then why the interview approach? It makes you seem more inaccessible by asking the users to submit questions to a different board than what they would typically post on plus the questions would likely be filtered to allow for better interview material.
If you want more interaction with the staff and the users, have the staff actually interact with the users more.
If I asked a question to the mods, it would be pretty much just be for the sake of saying negative things to/about them, not because I want to know an answer to a question. Therefore I'm just not going to ask any questions.

It makes it much easier for me to compile the questions (and prevent questions for purging quickly) is they are all in one centralized location on a dead board. As for your last statement, that's not exactly within my power so I'm not sure why you're lecturing me on that aspect.

Well, considering that it's done one moderator at a time (the first issue is with Error), I can guarantee that Raptor won't be answering any of the questions. Well, I won't be seeking/collecting any answers from him, anyways. Whether or not he does in the future is pretty much up to him, though.

I didn't mean for it to be a lecture. It was just an observation.
I like the idea of increasing positive interactions between the userbase and the staff but I'm not a fan of there being this buffer between the staff and the users.
Moderators need to either be able to be impeached or less powerful. There are tons of rational nice people on here who I would much rather have as mods who never get the chance.
My interview question would be why can we not dump you if you are universally disliked?

Who gets interviewed is entirely up to who is willing to participate.
