1. In this contest, you only vote for a game if youve played both games in its match. Both games. This is important. 2. You have to have played them yourself, physically. Reading a Lets Play is not playing. Watching your friend or youtube is not playing. Disliking a genre is not playing. Playing the prequel/sequel is not playing. Youre the judge of how long you need to play a game before its fair to vote, but you probably shouldnt be voting for/against a 40-hour RPG if youve played the first 5 minutes. 3. All ports & remakes are grouped together. You can vote for RBY if youve only played FireRed. 4. Please vote honestly. There are plenty of contests where you can vote any way you want. The entire purpose of this contest is ruined if people dont honor the honor system. 5. In the event of a tiebreaker, the game with less C/D votes moves on. 6. One vote per person. Rallying is allowed if the people rallied also vote fairly and by the rules. Whichever game has more votes from people who have played both games (i.e. Choice A vs. Choice B) moves on. Matches last 24 hours. 7. If a game has been played by less than 8 people, it is auto-eliminated.

Persona 3 handles EBA. Ar Tonelico II shuts out Phoenix Wright 3...but only 6 people have played it, so it gets auto-eliminated. Them's the breaks!
Not sure what you mean by 'keeping' it. It's been in the opening post for a while now, and referenced several times when games were auto-eliminated that lost the match anyway.

The auto elimination rule is really stupid and yesterday illustrates that pretty well considering Ar Tonelico 2 got 10 votes last round where both had played it but suddenly this round it "became" too obscure and was eliminated.
A rule where elimination depends on total vote input is stupid. The number is totally arbitrary too.

Don't really agree with the first thing. It's basically saying that "If more of its fans had showed up to vote, it would still be here" when that applies to every contest ever. If you don't want your game to lose, show up to vote.
Don't really agree with the number being arbitrary either as it was based on prior results, but the rule being based on total votes might be something that should be changed. Thinking about that one. If you have any ideas there, go ahead.
Yeah, you arbitrarily set it at that to selectively eliminate the Fairy Tale game or whatever. That doesn't mean it's not stupid.
And the difference between "voters not showing up" in normal contests and here is the spirit of the rule is just to eliminate games that are too obscure (which kinda undermines the whole idea behind the contest to some extent but that's not the big point here)-- not games that don't have a devoted enough following to show up.
If you want a less stupid way of doing it set it at a percentage of the votes for the day. Of course if you want an even less stupid way of doing it scrap the rule completely.

I didn't make the rule to get rid of Fairy Tale. Percentage could work and is what I was thinking of doing (although any % I choose would probably get labeled as an arbitrary number anyway).
Oh? I'm pretty sure the whole point of setting it at 8 was because EWR had 9 people that played it and was the second lowest playership of the round? Sounds like targeting the game to me. Why else would you pick 8. Was there a method there? If not, well the rule pretty much just is "name an arbitrary number" and that's why I disagree with it. (that and it being introduced mid contest)
