To be fair insulting Wenger is a little different than referencing an attack on Adebayor's national team that ended in the death of some of his teammates.

People tend to overrate the players in their favorite league/team. Spain is no different.

My favorite team is Liverpool, but judging by current run of form I'd say that, overall, Italy is the best league in the world right now (team wise.) They might not have the best top team but they have the most depth.

It's also not really fair to compare players directly with how they perform in different leagues at different times. Teammates change, roles change, ages, skills, etc. etc. Anyone could see that Aguero was a budding star. Robben and Sneijder were great for Madrid but injuries were an issue and they've proven their worth elsewhere. VDV was always good.

Ultimately I'd say there isn't much difference at the top of the 3 big leagues (Italy, England, Spain.)

I thought Curt's post was pretty reasonable there. More reasonable than his "Liverpool will be challenging for the title at the end of the year" spiel earlier.

I disagree about Italy being the best league but certainly England or Spain aren't miles ahead. I actually think how competitive Italy is right now adds to its quality. There are like four teams that could win the league right now because of how bad Inter and Milan have started. I try to catch Serie A stuff when I can. I just wish their stadiums filled up more so that there was an atmosphere with it, and that they had more creative stuff than chanting their team names over and over.

I think if you put Italy's table vs. Spain's or England's by ranking and had the teams play eachother in a Bo3 that Italy would end up with the best overall record. I don't think they have the top level teams of England or Spain but I think that through the middle and bottom their teams are better.

I'd have taken a draw before kick-off. I don't think the Gerrard goal was a free-kick but I can't deny that Liverpool were the better team either so can't really complain.
