Andy Carroll was another target for Derek Llambias lyrical weapons. He claims that the striker is worth f*** all and that Newcastle got the better of the deal. In fact he goes into more detail about the deal. Well pick it up at the point where Liverpool offered £30 million for Carroll on transfer deadline day.
I have to admit that £30m for Andy Carroll is a lot of money.
When one supporter asked him Is he worth £30m? Llambias responded: No hes worth f*** all. He then explains that after rejecting the £30m offer, Newcastle refused to sell even for £35m unless Liverpool paid the entire fee up front.
It is about control.
We had the control. We knew the Torres deal was there. We drew that f****** deal, perhaps the ultimate, explained Llambias.
So £30m? F*** off! Dont waste my time and I slammed the phone down. £35m? Everybody including Pardew all agreed.
But the £35m they wanted to pay over four years. It was rubbish. Mike (Ashley) said and he is a brave boy Mike I promise you get all the £35m up front.
We got it all up front and then they never paid us on time and we charged them 12 grand f****** interest.
The guy is a swine, a cocky, assy, greasy little **** of a man. But go do I love that last sentence.
Absolutely. Ashley is a stupid **** with too much money invested in my club, Lllambiarse is the guy making most of the decisions on a day to day basis.
From: GunMage | #248 That should be Ireland and Croatia through. Portugal can't lose at home to Bosnia, can they?
Wouldn't discount Bosnia at all, very talented team who have been really unfortunate both not to quality automatically and qualify for the WC 2010. They were the one side I really wanted to avoid, think Portugal need a big game to put them away.
From: Ayvuir | #251 If it brings in revenue that we actually USE to make the clubs training facilities better, and increase our transfer budget then fine.
Like, how soon do you want to be able to see the tangible improvements?
I think it's silly. SJP is one of the most iconic stadiums in the country and changing the name of it like that isn't good for anybody.

Van Persie single-handedly saving my fantasy season.
Absolute travesty that he wasn't even shortlisted for player of the year. That's 31 goals for him this calendar year. Sure Messi and Ronaldo score more than him but they're also in superior teams who dominate opposition more. And what about the other 19 on that list ahead of him?

Crucifying my Oracle average one match at a time
The shortlist was only made on November 1st I think so he still had something like 28 goals in 29 games.
Rooney is on that list and his record in that time period is 27 goals in 54 games for comparison. And he's not the weakest player of the 21 shortlisted.

............ Bah. Ryan Taylor had a nightmare and Micah makes us wonder why he's not in the England squad. Have to avoid pressing the panic button and not read too much into the next three games. Barely anybody gets anything from City, United and Chelsea anyway.
Who's that team they call the Arsenal? Who's that team we all adore? :D
Too close of a result and our defense was a little shoddy, but looked extremely dangerous up front. Once Gervinho can figure out how to finish/pass/do anything inside the box, we're in very good shape up top.

been a while since I posted here but were lookng good money for 3rd right now, 4 points behind an out of form united with a game in hand, Id love to go 2nd, even if its just for a short while
Man U are still not safely through and need a miracle to win their group . Man City need a miracle just to advance. And what the heck was that noise during the Napoli game? It sounded like bombs were going off.
i can't imagine what will happen when van persie gets injured. i reckon park will finally get his chance but aw refuses to play him so i don't know how good park is.
Unfortunate for Chelsea, but great for us! Best group stage in years. Chelsea must win against Valencia or see out a bore draw to go through, but Chelsea can't keep a clean sheet to save their life right now.
Bradford City have signed Benson for £150k (Loan until Jan) and given him a 3 and a half year contract. This is despite the fact he's 32 and failed the medical due to his knee being ****ed and 'only having a year left in him'.
Also asking price was apparently £100k. Just how badly can you run a football club...

Doesn't Chelsea miss out if they draw? What is the tiebreak? They'd both have two draws and Valencia has a higher goal differential.
-- Opportunities multiply as they are seized. The Sens are LIONS
Also it's looking more and more like Tottenham are a 'lock' for a top 4 spot in England. With Manchester City, Manchester United and Tottenham all very likely to make the top 4 who do you guys see as taking that 4th spot?
Trying to sound unbiased I think that it will be between Liverpool and Arsenal, but with Liverpool having the edge. Chelsea almost seems as though they are in a sharp decline right now and morale is not running high. I don't think that Van Persie can keep up his current run of form to carry Arsenal into the top 4, but that's just me.

Points, results against each other, goal difference against each other, away goals against each other. Then those same criteria against all the teams.
Since Chelsea drew 1-1 away, a 0-0 draw would see them qualified. A 1-1 draw would mean they miss out by overall goal difference.
Hope they can keep their losing run going two more weeks!
