Upset that Chandler left, he was f***ing awesome for us last season. Never really liked Odom that much, but it's great that something good came out of losing Chandler. The Mavs need a center damn it.

Odom could be a good fit but, like, they already have Marion and Nowitzki for combo forwards. three might be overkill.

then again, they might be completely unguardable. the thing that made them so good last year was having a shot blocking athletic center, though, and replacing that with Odom leaves a huge hole.

the big rumour right now seems to be CP3 to the Clips. he wants to play with Blake.

what a great fit if true. CP3 and Blake? maaaan. not to mention that he'd be playing in Kobe's building. then again, who knows what the NBA might do in the 11th hour.

The Clippers know that Paul is unlikely to sign an extension with any team that trades for him because the rules in place in the NBA's new labor agreement make it more advantageous for top stars to play the season out and then sign a longer deal in free agency, even if they're staying with the same team. But sources told ESPN.com that the Clippers merely want Paul to pick up the 2012-13 option in his contract at the time of the trade -- thus delaying his free agency by one year -- if they're going to give up one of their two most prized trade assets for Paul: Eric Gordon or Minnesota's unprotected No. 1 pick in 2012.

WTF? do the clippers seriously think they can win it all in 2 years with CP3 and blake?

that seems fair. by then the sign and trade rules will be gone and they'll be able to offer him so much more than anyone else. besides, it's CP3. two years of him are worth that.

man, Stern may have just blocked the Clips trade as well.

what a mess. either Stern needs to become their GM or he needs to get the hell out of the way. Blake and Paul together could be so amazing. don't ruin this, NBA. you've ruined enough this year!

i don't think stern blocked the deal, i've just heard that the hornets want way too much

apparently it's gordon, kaman, aminu, one other guy i'm forgetting, and two first round draft picks

paul is good but clips would be dumb to do that

edit: guy i'm forgetting is bledsoe

there's the Hornets GM and then the NBA. the GM signs off on it, the Clips agree, it gets reported on and then Stern comes in at the last second to veto it. Stern is basically acting as an owner but the process is so backwards right now.

for example, Hornets have 6 guys on the roster and the first preseason game is Friday. Clips have a restricted FA who signed an offer sheet and need to decide what to do with him while this is all going on. players are disgruntled about bring almost traded. this is a disaster. somebody is going to get sued. if I were Paul I would threaten to sit out the season.

Stern is my Boy. I love the guy. I think he's the best commissioner in sports.

But this is the worst thing he's ever done. Seriously. Let me point out all the reasons why.

1.He basically told NBA GMs he knows more than they do

2.Turned the Hornets GM into a puppet even though we went out of his way to say he isn't.

3.He made it impossible to trade Paul because it would mean favortism or pandering to small market teams.

4.He ruined what could've been a MASSIVE NBA Season. As we saw last year, these superstar teams in big cities is what people WANT. Big Market Teams make up most of the NBA audience. Period. We want the Lakers/Celtics/Heat/Bulls to be good.

This is just a royal mess up all around.

any team negotiating with New Orleans from now on needs to demand to only talk to Stern. their GM has absolutely no say.

the only way you're getting Paul is if you trade a fan favourite player back. I seriously hope Paul forces Stern's hand or leaves for nothing. no free agent is going to go there either.

Billups gets claimed by the Clips. NBA has warned him to "behave" if he gets claimed.

As a Bulls fan, I am more than happy that all of the chaos wrecked by the Angel of Stern has limited effect on them. Well, unless he vetoes that 5 year/$94 million contract coming Rose's way.

there's a lot of money out there and not a lot of quality free agents. it's simple economics.

the Kwame deal isn't even that bad. it's a one year deal with money they had to spend. I'm not convinced that deal is any worse than Jordan (and maybe Chandler given the insane money he got)

Kwame is a serviceable back-up center. Maybe not $7 million serviceable but still.

DeAndre Jordan is going to be a very good center. Which is why I still hate Dumars for picking Walter Sharpe over him.

Paul isn't a rental. he's got two years and more importantly, he's got a teammate that could be the absolute perfect fit. in fact, he has two with Jordan. he's got shooters around him too. remember how this worked out in New Orleans when they had Peja/West/Chandler? this is a repeat of that but with better guys.

I'd go so far as to call Paul-Griffin the best 1-2 in the league right now. those two should fit together beautifully so long as Paul is healthy. Paul is in LA and has a top 10 teammate. why would he leave and where would he go?

As much as I like Bledsoe he probably gets dealt to get a big man. Either him or Mo Williams and I think Mo is a better guy and still has some good gas in the tank. Clips should look to maybe sign Landry from NOH or Dalembert from Sac to finish their roster off for the season

You're assuming that teams won't be trying to position themselves for Paul or Howard if they're going to be free agents the same way they did for Wade, James, Bosh, etc.

People are really overestimating the Clippers here. Adding Paul is great and Caron MIGHT be a positive for them, too. But they were a 32 win team last year, and they're pretty thin now. I figure 45-50 wins for them, but they still have Vinny Del Negro as their head coach.

And the Lakers are still better than them. You don't get a better 4-5 in the league than Gasol and a healthy Bynum.
