yeah I think the Lakers are a 45 win team now. Thunder, Dallas, Memphis and the Clippers are probably the class of that division.

45-21 for the Lakers? Seems about right.

in the East... uh, Miami and Chicago for sure, Knicks and Boston maybe, Orlando if they keep Howard. I'm not too convinced on anybody else.

Keeping Andre Jordan is a huge factor not a lot of people are mentioning. Him and Blake feed off each other. Paul with Billups and Butler will flesh out keeping things on pace. Blake will bring the energy. They have a good setup.

I still think Nick Young would be an incredible fit with the clips but no one else seems to see that

If China didn't pillage the Nuggets, I would have said they had a good team coming back. Not favorites good but "I really don't want to deal with these guys in the first round" good.

Paul and Billups do not work together on the floor. Both are ball-dominant guards, and Billups has never played off the ball for significant periods of time in his career.

No, JR Smith is in China as well. None of them (Smith, Kenyon Martin, Wilson Chandler) can return to the NBA until March 2012.

Also, the Nuggets need to retain Arron Afflalo as well. Or they could send him our way, that's cool, too.

It's kind of sad how the rest of that conference looks. They've been mediocre for a good while and there's no bright spots coming up. Maybe the Nets will be good some day?

I don't think the Knicks are ever going to work as currently constructed and Orlando looks like trash if Howard leaves. Clock is ticking on the Celtics and I think we can expect years of Bulls vs Heat conference finals.

Man it must have been awesome for basketball lovers overseas to see all these awesome players come in out of nowhere

No, China specifically made them sign those kind of deals, with no sort of escape clause should the NBA season not be cancelled. They were after Rodney Stuckey for a little while, but unfortunately they didn't sign him.

anyway, miami still the favorite in the east over chicago (... which doesn't seem to be making any moves this off-season...?) and they'll be contending for the #1 seed this year closer than last year.

memphis will be better than last year, good for a 3- or 4-seed. and there will probably be a huge-ass difference between being in the upper (4) half bracket or lower (3) half bracket in the west this year. just a hunch... it's gonna get as top-heavy as the east.

Bulls just signed Rip Hamilton tonight. He's old so the question of how much he has left in the tank has to be asked, but he's an upgrade over Bogans.

Not a blockbuster move by any stretch of the imagination, but an upgrade is an upgrade. Rip won't be anywhere near what he was but the hope is he'll make teams have to think twice about double teaming Rose.

Your guess is as good as mine.

Not bad for a debut.

The kid isn't coming into the league as a scoring threat, he's pretty much a pure point that plays defense.

6-6-7 in 24 minutes is pretty solid for your first game

are you implying that he didn't help minnesota win?

edit: oh and 2 steals. actually a really solid game. hoping to stash him on my fantasy roster. i think he'll take over for ridnour quickly.
