I am not saying I believe it will sell better at the box office than The Dark Knight, but I do believe it will be the better movie, and the Dark Knight is one of my favorites. Just from watching the trailer I really feel Tom Hardy nailed the menace of Bane/

It is hard to believe it could be better than TDK considering how much I loved that movie, but I can certainly hope so.

If it is I may finally have a new contender for my all-time favorite movie.

I just have extreme faith in Tom Hardy. Bane has so much potential, and if you have seen the prologue, you will know that it looks like that potential has been fulfilled

The main problem I see happening is people are going to go into the film with unreasonable expectations and will ultimately feel let down and call it a bad film. I have hopes for the film, but recognize that matching the excellence of the first two might not happen. The preview makes it look excellent and fills me with nerdy glee, but I'm trying to keep my expectations at a realistic level.

I'm still not 100% convinced of Ann Hathaway as Catwoman. I love her and she's one of my favorite actresses, but I just went and watched the trailer and I dunno. She just seems too bubbly and nice to play Catwoman. Not sure how I feel about that. Not that I don't think she'll do a good job acting wise, I just dunno if I can suspend my disbelief like that.
Bane looks awesome though. Should be a good movie either way.

It was an amazing performance by Ledger but it's hard to say it was 100% down to his performance.

IMO he deserved it but would I be saying that had he not died? I don't know.

heath ledger was a great actor to begin with. before batman he was not popular with batman fans because he was in a lot of teen type movies and was a gay cowboy, but he was already respected by movie critics. while people probably were more interested because of his death, he definitely would have gotten props regardless. not many people cared about his other movie that came out after he died, so that probably wasn't entirely the reason.

Bruce Wayne ends the movie crippled or dead.

BANK ON IT.

It's right in the first movie speech

"A man is just flesh and blood and can be ignored or destroyed. But as a symbol... as a symbol, I can be incorruptible, everlasting."

The man must be defeated, but THE BATMAN endures.

Plus, Nolan's not letting anybody take over this series after him.

First of all, the Academy isn't the only group that matters. It's really not hard to believe that the massive spike in acclaim between Begins and The Dark Knight had something to do with Ledger dying. Mostly though, it was The Joker dying. If, say, Morgan Freeman died before TDK was released, I don't think it would matter nearly as much as Ledger's passing.

Second, the Academy literally hands out pity awards to people who are either on their way out in the industry or are close to shuffling off their mortal coil. Do you honestly believe that an actor's death wouldn't earn bonus points in light of this?

It depends on what they do with Ra's Al Ghul and whether it leads to Liam Neeson coming back as the antagonist.

The fact that his body was in the prologue suggests that Bane won't be the main villain and that he's merely working for a revived Ra's.

Nolan's Batman trilogy is really smelling a lot like the Spider-man trilogy at this point.

1st movie: Good, Lowkey
2nd movie: Easily the best, almost the perfect superhero movie
3rd movie: Over the top, lets make some money

Hopefully Nolan proves me wrong.

Would a revived Ra's really fit in Nolan's "realistic" Batman world?

its just something that doesn't translate well to movies. I mean the ending scene of spider man 2 with

(SPOILERS)
Mary Jane running in slow motion with her wedding dress on and that lol smirk on her face
(END SPOILERS)

was just the dumbest thing I ever saw. Cheesy one-liners when you take out a villain is fine for something like a spider man movie. But the cheesiness mostly came from relationships and the "peter parker drama" parts of the movie. It wasnt good. All three of them werent good honestly. But the order is 1 > 2 >>>> 3. 1 being about a 6/10, 2 being about a 5, and 3 being like a 2/10.

Its like how video games in general don't translate well into movies. I mean the Mario games of the late 80s/early 90s are some of the best games ever made, yet the movie in 1993 was....well...

A lot of the problems with movies based on video games is that they don't stay faithful to source material. Super Mario Bros. is a pretty good example of that.

I thought the Spidey movies did a pretty good job of staying faithful to source material.
