I am feeling so good about this game now. Holy crap. That movie at the end gets me so excited.

And somehow, this will catch the whole board by surprise, even though the full game has been praised to death since forever by people who despised XIII. Somehow. Don't ask me how.

It's certainly on the road to being way better than XIII, but that alone doesn't justify a purchase for me, personally. I look forward to the discussion of it once it's actually out, though!

I didnt go through the whole thing, but the 2 things that annoyed me...

A. the preemptive strike seemed a bit easy, does it get harder?

B. does every boss have it so the opening stagger ends up being done via QTE?

The early dialogue seemed pretty bad, doesn't help when all the best characters are MIA. Towns and stuff didn't matter much to me, the people whining about that stuff just sux.

but the battle system was awesome once again, and I think the monster system is pretty cool.

I didn't play through the whole thing but it is fantastic!

I'm not really sure how I feel about the Crystarium this time around but everything about the Paradigm Parties and stuff, Love the Monsters in the party. Can't wait for the end of the month

Yeah, the Crystarium is a bit weird in this. The monster end of it is understandable, by the character portion should be a bit more involved.

Wouldn't be the first time a Final Fantasy title was bested by it's direct sequel.

just played this.. I dunno, something about it really threw me off. I think I'm just over the FF series. I got a little into it whenever I would dungeon crawl and play with the battle system, but then I'd hit a town area or something involving the story and no thank you to that.

I'm into gameplay-centric games with most of the core gameplay being in menus, so that could be why I like FFXIII/FFXIII-2. It is hard to consider anything after X-2 a true Final Fantasy, because they dropped the spirit of the series. I wouldn't say you are quite over FF, but FF is over you.

It looks like the gameplay will be greatly improved from XIII, and I like that but the plot still has potential to be a trainwreck (although the demo is not going to be a good indicator of how good the plot is).

Which is..pretty much what I was expecting.

Still not quite sold enough to buy it on release, but I'll wait for a substantial price drop.

age might be part of it, but it's also that the series hasn't been as good for a long while and better RPGs have existed in the mean time (Persona, Suikoden)

FF13 designs are fine. way overdone, but not bad. it's what comes out of their mouths and the way things look and the world they've built that just seem bad.

Just finished the demo myself.

It was pretty cool. I somehow was expecting better graphics, but oh well, they're fine. The battle system is really cool once I got into it. Even with the few starting abilities, I made up some good strategies depending on enemy positions and such. The paradigms and such are great, too, especially with the monsters adding a new layer of strategy. I completely destroyed Atlas with my buff-destroy-defend-destroy loop.

Crystarium is cool, too. It seems more linear than the Sphere Grid, but it's really not since you can actually choose which styles to upgrade instead of having to follow a line.

Upgrading monsters with items is interesting and a good idea, because if you have enough money you can just power level them. Nice that the demo gave you so many phoenix downs to sell for leveling materials.

Voices are decent. Noel is good, Serah is alright, the random characters like guards and stuff are actually pretty good too.

I dunno, the battles and the on-map movement were great, and the time/memory gate thing looks interesting. I might actually pick this up sometime.

the FF13-2 demo has this intro that turned me off before I could even begin. ZFS, when you see it you'll have the same reaction.

then I get to this big battle against a hand and I'm doing dumb qtes while running up and down the hand as if it's stylish. meanwhile I'm waiting for meters to fill up which bothers me in FF13 way more than in other games for some reason. but every once and a while? fast-paced qte! it just feels so shallow and pointless.

and don't get me wrong, I love turn based RPGs. I just went through 86 hours of Xenoblade after all and never once minded fighting enemies.

I can still play old RPGs I've played a bunch, I can still play some new ones and like them, I can still go back and play SH and so far like that. it's just the FF series I can't play anymore.

FFIV DS is probably the best FF game in the past few years. That was ace, at least!

any re-release of something in the 4-10 + Tactics range is bound to be better than their new stuff at this point. when the thing I'm most hyped about from a company is an HD re-release of a 10 year old game, that's unfortunate.

Oh wow that first boss battle took less than 3 minutes. What the ****? How is that possible? A similar battle like that in the original would have taken 10x as much time. Thank god they actually learned that not everything should have 20 million HP.

The first boss you could just autoattack to death, it wasn't meant to be hard.

I kinda like the QTEs. They are way too easy though, so it's just kind of a chore instead of an achievement when you get them. I think what I most like is the whole live cutscene thing that they have going on, that's really cool.

Yeah, that did nothing for me. QTEs in that first battle felt totally random, like I'm not even sure there was any reason for them to be there. Mashing on triangle made something happen and it was like 'uhh.' Otherwise, it's FF13. I guess if you liked the original that's good news, but it was still the same old boring game I didn't have much interest in. Maybe that's because it's a demo and you're not given much context to what's happening, but eh. Pass!

I dont get how someone can call it "boring". if you like JRPGs at all, this is clearly one of the best battle systems ever. much better than say, Lost Odyssey.
