Gonna play Snooker for the 1st time today. Played Pool before so I kinda know a bit of what's going on basically.
But I tried reading up on the rules for Snooker and they are complicated as hell. Especially the scoring system. So I wanted to clarify some stuff.
Is it that the brown ball worth 3 points and the green ball worth 4 points or is it vice versa?
If I pot my cue along with the red ball, do I get a -3 pts (red 1 pt and cue -4pts) or -4 pts (cue -4pts)?
If my "on" ball is red and I hit say, a black. Is it -4 pts (misc offence -4 pts) or -7 pts (black worth 7 pts)?
If my "on" ball is say yellow (2 pts) and I hit say, a blue. Is it -4 pts (yellow 2 pts but min 4 pts) or -5 pts (blue worth 5 pts)?
Is hitting a red to make that red pot another red counted as potting a red and worth 1 pt?
When all the reds are gone, everybody must hit the balls in order (yellow, green/brown, green/brown, blue, pink, black) without the option to choose which ball to hit?
I'm currently still working so I can spend this 10 mins typing this but I don't have time to spend 1 hr trying to comprehend the rules on sites and wiki.
For fouls if you commit a foul you never receive any points for that shot. Potting your cue and a red means you don't get awarded points for the red but it does stay off the table.
I believe hitting the black is -7 not -4.
If your on is yellow and you hit a blue you get -5. You are always penalized the higher ball value.
If you hit a red into another red that does count as potting a red and is worth 1 point.
After all the reds are gone you have to pot the balls in ascending order yes.

Green 3, Brown 4. If I pot my cue along with the red ball, do I get a -3 pts (red 1 pt and cue -4pts) or -4 pts (cue -4pts)?
4 points. You never gain any points on the same stroke as a foul. If you pot a coloured ball with a foul, it gets respotted, if you pot a red, it remains potted with no score given.
If my "on" ball is red and I hit say, a black. Is it -4 pts (misc offence -4 pts) or -7 pts (black worth 7 pts)?
4 unless the ball you hit has a score greater than 4, than the score of that ball.
If my "on" ball is say yellow (2 pts) and I hit say, a blue. Is it -4 pts (yellow 2 pts but min 4 pts) or -5 pts (blue worth 5 pts)?
The foul was on the blue. 5 points.
Is hitting a red to make that red pot another red counted as potting a red and worth 1 pt?
Yes, that's a cannon. Also, you can pot 2 reds with one stroke without it being a foul.
When all the reds are gone, everybody must hit the balls in order (yellow, green/brown, green/brown, blue, pink, black) without the option to choose which ball to hit?
- Red - 1 pt - Yellow - 2pts - Green - 3pts - Brown - 4 pts - Blue - 5 pts - Pink - 6 pts - Black - 7pts
If you make an 'offence' (scratch or foul) with your cue ball attempting to 'pot' (score) anything below 5 pts i.e anything below the blue ball your foul play gets you a -4 If the foul is committed while attempting a blue or higher ball. Your points are deducted by -5 for blue, -6 for pink and -7 for black. If a higher color ball (blue and above) is accidentally potted while attempting a lower color ball (brown and below), the points deducted will be based on the point value of the higher ball.
After finishing all reds. The color balls must be potted in sequence (lowest to highest i.e yellow to black) if the game hasn't ended already. Depending on regional rules, one can keep trying to 'snooker' the other player until the final ball (black) has been potted.
