if VN's count, there are two big moments in Clannad that pretty much destroy anything else, and a bunch of other ones in stuff like G Senjou, Muvluv, Cross Channel, etc

if not, Valkyria Chronicles takes the cake for me

no other game has made me violently sob that hard

After the MGS3 and FFVII stereotypical examples, for me personally it's actually Xenogears. When a certain someone turns themselves in to the enemy on Disc 2 I tend to bite my nails.

Only 2 things have brought me anywhere near tears, and those were the ends of MMBN6 and Bastion. Amazing series/game that were extremely sad to see end.

FFX's ending gets me every time too. For sure.

Couple of ME3 moments I won't spoil. MGS4's ending. Olga in MGS2. Seeing 'Episode V' at the end of Xenogears and knowing it means little. A certain event at the end of FFT. Ditto with Tactics Ogre.

Mostly it seems like Japanese classics know how to tug at me. But yeah, BioWare gets it as far as more recent gaming's concerned.

From what I've played, it's unquestionably the ending of Professor Layton and the Lost Future. Up until that point, the series had some very interesting plots, but nothing that I would call terribly emotional. But that ending, oh dear god that ending - I felt like I had been punched right in the face from nowhere.

I am literally tearing up right now just to recall it... I am such a goddamn sap!

Junkman dying in MMBN4 got me.

All he ever wanted was to have a friend, and you literally just kill him. This is the only memorable thing out of the game that I recall though.

Unwound Future's ending was also a tough one.

*MM spoilers* MM's Kafei quest was sad when you realize it's either they're together and die or will never be together. ( unless you went through the quest right before the games ending I suppose)

The end of FFX, of course, but there's also the scene where Kilika gets completely trashed. It opens up with some kids playing around with a blitzball, the **** goes down, and then the scene ends with that blitzball just floating onto screen. The first time I saw it made me give a slight whimper.
