I've been going back and watching some of Cartoon Network's old Cartoon Cartoons and have decided to rank them. For those unfamiliar with the term (shame on you), these are the shows that will be on this list:
What a Cartoon/The Cartoon Cartoon Show Dexter's Laboratory Johnny Bravo Cow and Chicken I Am Weasel The Powerpuff Girls Ed, Edd n Eddy Mike, Lu & Og Courage the Cowardly Dog Sheep in the Big City Time Squad Samurai Jack The Grim Adventures of Billy and Mandy Evil Con Carne Whatever Happened to Robot Jones? Codename: Kids Next Door
But first a word of warning: On the whole, I vastly prefer the older ones to the later ones (that is to say, since the above list is in order of their premier, most, but not all, of the shows will rank within the same half of the list that they are listed in above). I'll post at least two today.

Actually started out as a shared block with The Grim Adventures of Billy and Mandy, appropriately titled Grim & Evil. Now let me first say that had those two remained one block and not separated into their two separate shows, that block would have ranke much higher than both this and its sister program end up on my list, however, neither was truly strong enough to stand on its own, in my opinion, and Evil Con Carne was definitely the weaker of the two segments, and, on its own, the weakest of all Cartoon Cartoons. And it's really a shame, because if they had actually made it a serial about him trying to piece together his missing body while simultaneously trying to rule the world, it would've been so much better. But instead it was just the wacky antics of a disembodied human brain attached to a bear trying to rule the world. Even when I was in the intended age group it didn't really hold my attention. Next.
Best Character: General Skarr The one character that I did love was General Skarr. His sarcastic tone and vindictive ways made the show somewhat bearable (no pun intended).
Worst Character: Hector's Stomach As little as the show did make sense, it made zero sense that his stomach was its own entity with its own personality. Couple that with the fact that it never had anything remotely funny or interesting to say, and you've got a solid Worst Character.

The most often-forgotten of the Cartoon Cartoons, and for a damn good reason - it's so God damn boring. Ben Stein would shoot himself of boredom watching this show. Basically in 1999, Cartoon Network attempted to make their own little Gilligan's Island ripoff. And it flopped. Hard. So hard, in fact, that it barely made it to the end of two seasons. In fact, Cartoon Network pulled the plug on it in mid 2000, the time when all other shows/networks were capitalizing on "deserted island"-themed episodes/shows, due in no small part to a little show called Survivor. Maybe you've heard of it? 24 seasons later and it's still consistantly top 20 in the ratings almost every week (it also happens to be my favorite show). To give you a hint at how little people cared about it show, in 2001, Kellogg's ran a promotion featuring 8 hypothetical cereals, each themed after one of these shows. There was a poll and the winner would be made into an actual cereal for a limited time. The Powerpuff Girls won, with Dexter's Lab and Ed Edd n Eddy hot on its heels. Not surprising, as those were arguably the three most popular Cartoon Cartoons of that or any time. ML&O, which had probably the most interesting cereal (coconut and chocolate flavored) was in dead last by a large margine. The show was the only Cartoon Cartoon that was never regularly part of the Cartoon Cartoon Fridays block, and, like Gilligan's Island before it, they never left the island because the producers were expecting to make one more season. Only ML&O didn't have fans force the producers to make a reunion movie with the rescue conclusion, because it was so boring. What an unnecessarily long write-up for a show that literally nobody cares about.
Best Character: Lancelot
A silent character (another clue to how boring the show is), Lu's pet turtle always seems to know what's going on more than the humans and has that little "wink" in her eye while doing it (yes, she's a she, unbeknownst to the rest of the cast).
Worst Character: Lu
In true Nancy Cartwright style, Lu is an annoying brat, but lacks the charm and comedic timing of Bart.

No more for tonight. The next two are pretty equally "meh" for me, so I want to watch a couple episodes of each tomorrow to decide which order to put them in. I could see either of them causing a bit of an upset (not sure how popular they are on the board), but don't worry, neither of them are among the upper echelon by any means.

-The main characters, the turtle, and Lu's dad. -The theme song -There was this one episode with a sunken ship, I think -An awful commercial where they sang their island's anthem
Awful, awful show.

I remember an episode of MLO where they had to race around the island. But man it has been forever since I watched this. I don't think I found it boring though, just nothing special.

The only thing I really remember about MLO is there was an episode about candy or something, and it reminded me of Ed, Edd & Eddy and jawbreakers. At least I think I remember that. Jujubes?

No update today due to school and work, but I will leave you with clues for the next two. Note that these clues are not mutually exclusive, and either may apply to both.
One features three main characters each of approximately equal prominance. The other is from the second half of the list, release-date wise (see above)

From: AdmiralZephyr | #024 One features three main characters each of approximately equal prominance.
Well, this one insinuates any of the following:
The Powerpuff Girls Ed, Edd n Eddy Time Squad The Grim Adventures of Billy and Mandy
Only one of which I'd be fine with ending up at such a low position.
Though, with the statement "three main characters", arguments could be made for CnC or Courage as well. (Red Guy, Eustace and Muriel, respectively). Of course, if it ends up being Courage, I'm afraid I'll have to hire an assassin.

List is okay so far. A little disappointed that Cow and Chicken isn't dead last, but I wouldn't consider the two so far "good" by any stretch of the imagination, so no complaints.

Yes, those were the four that I had in mind when I made that clue. I consider Courage to be the one central character of his show, and Cow and Chicken to be the two central characters in theirs, whereas the aforementioned four shows each have a distinct central trio of characters.

Codename: Kids Next Door actually won a contest in 2001 in which pilots for 10 cartoons were shown, viewers would vote on their favorite, and the winner would be made into a full series. KND was actually barely my third or fourth favorite of the bunch. I think Kitty Bobo or Swaroop would've made much more interesting series, but I'm not sure if they would have caught on well enough to last more than one or two seasons, whereas KND actually became pretty mainstream and went on to become one of Cartoon Network's longest-running original series ever, eclipsed I believe only by Dexter's Lab, Ed Edd n Eddy, and The Powerpuff Girls. So yeah, I kinda hold a grudge against it for beating out two potentially awesome shows. Fun fact - Billy and Mandy actually won this same contest the previous year. As for a show, I could never really get into KND. Probably because it came on right around the time I stopped watching Cartoon Cartoons and the humor was pretty juvenile, even for the intended age group. I will admit, however, that it could be fun at times, and there were more than a couple decent characters.
Best Character: Numbuh 5
The wise-ass of the group, Numbuh 5's cool and collected manner and suave, smart remarks helped make her the best character on the show, barely edging out the almost equally funny Numbuh 4.
Worst Character: Numbuh 2
As if you couldn't tell by the fact that he's big and fat, this guy was the punching-bag of the group and the least funny/interesting.

13. The Grim Adventures of Billy and Mandy (2001-2007)
Predating Kids Next Door, this show aired as one of 8 pilots in 2000 and was voted the best of them, so it was picked up as a series. One of the pilots that it beat out, Robot Jones, was eventually picked up and made into a show in its own rights, and frankly, as this list shows, I think it was better. As said before, Billy and Mandy was originally paired with Evil Con Carne as Grim and Evil, and when they split up, while neither was really strong enough to stand on its own, Billy and Mandy was definitely the stronger of the two. The show had some funny moments and was okay for its time, but looking back on it, it really hasn't aged well. If it had stopped after one season it would probably be much higher on this list, but as it stands, the later episodes just got unbelievably stupid and hurt its overall placement. Definitely not a show I'd be willing to purchase on DVD.
Best Character: Mandy
A little girl so evil that death himself fears her? Wicked funny.
Worst Character(s): Grim's friends
Those little winged devil guys that popped up from time to time. They kinda bugged me, and since the main cast was okay, I picked them.

Awesome topic, darkx! This is a nice little nostalgia trip. But got damn, Evil Con Carne is so underrated! I loved that show, though I do agree that Billy and Mandy was weak.
I'm shocked Cow and Chicken hasn't shown up yet.

I think #12 is Robot Jones. As for #11... I remember it being pretty rare to see Sheep, Time Squad and Weasel outside of CCF. I really hope it's Weasel, because the other two are way too good to rank so low!

Foster's was great. Probably one of the most well-animated TV shows I've seen, and Eduardo was such a boss.
Did anyone ever watch this old cartoon called Sitting Ducks? It wasn't a Cartoon Cartoon, but CN did air it for a little while back in '03 or '04, I think. I enjoyed it a lot!
