For the full season I'd have to say Rooney has been our best player. Just for the second half then probably Valencia (although Scholes is worth a shout).

Lol thug Barton. Excerpts from his tweets about Shearer (who was pretty critical of him):
(disclaimer: these tweets could very well already been deleted by the time i post this. i got these from users of a newcastle fan site)
Shearers still on my case I know I ****** up Alan, thanks for stating the obvious.
Whilst were both stating the obvious about each other, can I just say for the record what a great player u were. Well better me .
But I have a better hair(which is not hard), wear well better shirts on TV and have a personality(something u lack).
I really dont like that *****, in fact I honestly despise him Goodnight.
Id take it off Hansen and @GaryLineker but not from that bell, same fella that stamped on Neil Lennon, then threatened FA if they banned him,
That he would retire from international football. No sorry, not having him, never have. Selfish, boring man him. He can do one .
My favourite memory of him though is when he dropped his spuds when Keano put it on him. Goodnight Al, sleep well matey ..
With that my #shearerrant is over Goodnight all xxxxxx.
(already deleted) @Joey7Barton: P.S. My final point, ur a **** pundit/manager

For Watford it would probably be something like Eustace > Mariappa > Nosworthy > Deeney. I know nobody cares about the championship in this topic but meh >_>.

Terry picked over Ferdinand, Ruddy makes Euro squad but...
Downing and Carroll selected as well...
How? Like, Carroll I can kinda get over past few weeks, but if you really want a target man just go with Crouch. But how in the name of God can you think "Let's go with Downing, he's been pretty good this season."
Not even a token position like youth team coach for Kenny? Surprised. I thought they'll somehow keep him around.

The way I understood it, he was offered other positions within the club which he turned down and basically said 'Back me or sack me'. They opted for the latter.

I wouldn't mind seeing Roberto Martinez put in charge since I think he's too much of a FotM guy right now.
Bobby V for Pool obv, hell just browsing through pool forums for the hell of it the American owners are starting to get the finger pointed at em, but man it ain't like the owners haven't pumped in a ton of cash. Can't blame the owners on those when the manager/head scouts/directors are hired to be the ones to identify talent.
Still, Pool is a joke now, but I can see them actually doing something worthwhile, big warchests, big homecrowd and positions that are available to top class people right now.
The thing with Liverpool was that whilst their position was poor, they weren't playing poor. They were outplaying teams and dominating matches but just not scoring.
At that point it isn't the manager's fault, it's 100% down to the players. The manager's tactics were clearly working, the players just weren't finishing off the job. Maybe he needed more clinical finishers but on paper Liverpool didn't look that bad pre-season. It's only hindsight that has made us say they were crap.
Henderson was good for Sunderland last year. Downing created more chances than any other player in 10/11 before his complete blank this year. Carroll was banging them in for Nexcastle. Etc.
I think Dalglish was just very unlucky. The team played well without winning due to individuals not pulling their weight. He was missing Gerrard most of the year. Plus they hit the woodwork an astronomical amount this year.
I kinda feel sorry for him.

Crucifying my Oracle average one match at a time
To be fair, if it's down to the players that's Dalglish's fault, he spent astronomical amounts of money to make the squad no better than it was before. Carroll was playing well for Newcastle, but £35M for a player who'd only ever played well for half a season (he was behind Marlon Harewood in the pecking order in the Championship, he was so bad there) was abundantly obviously a terrible waste of money. £20M for Downing was a lot too - he did have a shockingly poor season, but it was still far too much money to pay in the first place. The £15M or whatever it was for Henderson was also a massive amount of money for a player who had hardly shone at Sunderland, he'd just played reasonably well and shown there was a possibility of more. Adam looked better than Blackpool, but even during all the hype he never looked better than a midtable club, and unsurprisingly he didn't stand out at all at Liverpool. Ironically (kinda), Dalglish's two best signings were two of his cheapest - Bellamy on a free and Jose Enrique.
So you can blame the players for the poor performances, but you can absolutely blame Dalglish for the players, and you can definitely blame him for the large amount of money wasted. And that's not even getting into the terrible mishandling of the whole racism row which made a lot of neutrals hate Liverpool and clearly damaged morale internally, judging from the terrible second half of the season Liverpool had in the league.

If all those players had played to their 2010/11 form then Liverpool would have done a hell of a lot better. And I say this as a Utd fan.
Andy Carroll went from a goal every 85 mins to a goal every 516 minutes
Jordan Henderson and Stewart Downing created 167 chances in 2010/11 and then only returned 1 assist between them in 2011/12
Charlie Adam managed 12 and 18 goals for Blackpool then only returned 2 goals for Liverpool. His assists dropped from 8 to 6 too.
Gerrard managed a paltry 12 starts.
Liverpool hit the woodwork a staggering 29 times this season.
Like I said, I'm a Utd fan and even I'll admit they were very unlucky this year. They dominated a lot of games but did not convert them into wins. I don't care how good a manager you are, nobody could predict such huge drop off in form of players who were playing in a team dominating proceedings.
Also, remember than Comolli was responsible for all of Liverpool's summer signings not Dalglish.
--
Crucifying my Oracle average one match at a time
Don't get me wrong, they were horrendously unlucky in a lot of ways (the woodwork one most of all, Gerrard's injuries wouldn't've mattered nearly as much if they'd bought quality), but they were still terrible signings.
Carroll was great in the first half of 2010/11, but that was the first time he'd ever been great. If a club is willing to spend £35M on a young player who's had a great half-season, there'd be an awful lot of money wasted.
Keep in mind Charlie Adam was the folcrum of an uber-attacking team at Blackpool, rather than just another player not playing every week at Liverpool. The drop-off in form and stats was expected by everyone I think, not just in hindsight.
Downing was unlucky, but £20M is still a massive overspend.
I stand by what I said before regarding Henderson.
Comolli was the one responsible, but surely Dalglish still had a pretty big say? If they were nothing to do with Dalglish he sure did persist with the signings when they clearly weren't working for a bafflingly long period of time.

If they get him it prolly won't work as well as it did in Barca, but eeeeeh, pool have mde a fair amount of good on paper moves lately.
Trophies aren't won on paper though. Now come on Saturday, I get the feeling all non-chelsea english fans will root for Bayern an all non Bayern german fans might actually back Chelsea. Neutrals prolly back Bayern cos Chelsea's team of blacks is racist.
C'mon. It shouldn't surprise you that all these names are being bandied around. Liverpool is still big enough for people to care so the media makes up news to get views. I'm pretty sure Martinez and Rafa are the only ones really being considered.
Oh look. Championship Playoff finals are around the corner. Best of luck to our former captain, Kevin Nolan.

I don't see any realistic chance he'll manage a club next season, at least not for the first few months. He said he was leaving Barca because of stress (and that it was effecting his judgment)... I think he'd see it as a bit slimy to say that and then jump into another club immediately.
RvP waiting to see what offers he gets. Wonder if he's looking for the money of Manchester City or an offer from a particular club (probably Barcelona).
-- We are living our lives Abound with so much information
Oh. Right. Champions League final is around the corner as well. I mean, I'm still going to watch it but I won't care who wins. So many stars like Alaba, Backstabber, Ivanovic and Terry missing through suspension. Bayern will undoubtedly have the advantage because Robbery, Mueller and Gomez is a stronger line-up than Drogba, Mata and two other chaps on the wings whom I've got no idea who they'll be but they'll be poorer than Robbery. Di Matteo winning will undoubtedly be HIS (not chelsea's) feel-good underdog fairy tale ending, but then the football purists will be claiming injustice for Spurs, though I really don't care about this part because this doesn't concern Newcastle anymore. On the other hand, Bayern winning the title in their own stadium will be their own fairy tale ending but Bayern, quite frankly, has always been about buying their way to success with signings like Neuer and Shaqiri.
Tl;dr - I'm totally neutral to who wins and I'll just watch the damn game.
