Makoto is the most likable but Futaba has the best character arc by a wide margin so she wins for me

Makoto doesn't really do anything. Not that I hate her- kept her in my main party as much as possible. I just found the adult characters way, way more interesting this time around

Ryuji is a victim of the worf effect. Whenever they need someone to ask a stupid question for the sake of the audience or do something dumb to move the story forward, they make ryuji do it

He's also relentlessly bullied by the rest of the party, which isn't cool

Makoto benefits from the opposite effect- if the game wants to give you a hint, they'll have makoto say it. Unless it needs to come from futaba/Mona special esp senses

My only complaint is that overall it doesn't feel like the characters interact with each other as fluidly as in 4. The characters truly seem like they have nothing in common other than wanting to follow MC/Mona around and get shit done

Akechi also doesn't deserve the bad rap I've seen him get, I think you're supposed to dislike him a little/feel a little threatened by his leadership. Certainly doesn't make him a bad character

Yusuke went from terrible to interesting very abruptly

I didn't really like Ann's social link, but I think they did a good job of making her a reasonable character with diverse strengths and weaknesses

Everyone in the party is pretty much all right

Combat party was ann/makoto/mona, sometimes with a certain other character swapped in for status cleanses.

It's just so much nicer when everyone is at least capable of healing, and Mona's super crit punches are ridiculously useful

At a certain point the 8 ability limit gets really frustrating

At the least I did rather like the other party member's reactions to their newfound popularity.

I wonder if the game allows you to gather coins at the casino legit. It might take forever to do it that way, but fighting more enemies just to get through these floors is bleh.

To answer your question Strife: Yes you can, but it's ungodly slow. I made the mistake of buying things at one of the desk before I progressed to the next area, so I had something like 97 thousand coins when I needed 100 thousand... and it took forever to get the coins I needed.

Can you use the bigger jackpot slots to catch back up? The actual normal gambling stuff seemed like it was zero-sum, and it didn't seem like you could repeat the high roller challenges, but I noticed you could buy things and go under the final total you need.

Also just got my first MAX confidant, Chariot as usual. Kinda awesome that rank 10 unlocks their second persona.

there are various events that multiply your coin number- if you buy everything right before the multiplication things become a pain. i had a feeling it would be that way, so saved directly before buying everything

in retrospect, it's funny that those walking puzzles don't let your party members help out. they'd be infinitely simple otherwise

Yeah if you buy everything at the desks after you pay out the 100k to go to the final room, it shouldn't be an issue, the problem is if you do it before that. Sure you can loot the treasures but at the time I was doing it I didn't have Futaba's treasure skimmer ability so I couldn't respawn chests. At least listening to the Whims of Fate for two hour straight was pretty nice.

She's the "This is the character we are forcing you to care about" person. Being Persona, they actually do a good job with her though. She's funny, but she only beats out some of the cast because they cared to develop her...*coughAnnRyujiHarucough*

Any other franchise would have said, "NEET: people will like her, move on" and went home.
