Sometimes a place like Total Wine or BevMo will have it, better to call first than waste a trip

It is a sweet wine, so don't expect something that tastes like an ale or you'll be disappointed. Something like Chauncer's mead is only $10 a bottle or so, it is typically mead mixed with white wine but you can get a sense of the taste to see if you like it. If you are more of a beer guy there is a brand called Viking's Blod that has added hops.

My favorite is a polish variety called a poltorak. Starts with about double the amount of honey of a regular mead. Super rich, only for rare occasions.

Also another thing to check if you decide to try it is whether or not it is carbonated. Most are not but occasionally you'll find one that is, I personally think the non-carbonated ones are better.

I pretty much don't like carbonated anything, but my shirnley temples are carbonated and I like them (probably would like them more without it, but no option).
