I'm trying to make a list of things I am paying for and not using or barely using.

I canceled Netflix for now at least, so that is one less, but I still have:

Hulu $13 a month (tried to cancel but they gave me a month free, I will probably cancel after that).

DVR from comcast $30 a month (I have all of this season of arrow/flash/gothum etc on it...so I have not returned it, but I should and just watch them on hulu or something).

Cell phone plan $30 a month (bought it since I was working, not working now and at home most of the time so no need).

That is it...so not horrid. Was a bit more, but I cut out most of the stuff I wasn't using already.

I'm working on it. I canceled Netflix, and tried to cancel Hulu (so I'm not really wasting money on that anymore, I just have a free month).

The DVR is the big one, but I have all those shows saved to it, and it auto tapes things like Preacher etc, which I watch, so I really am kinda using it. I just don't think it's worth $30 a month.

As far as my cell phone, I think I can cancel it now....believe I needed to keep it for 3 months as part of the initial deal, but even though I'm not using it now, if I start working again I probably will use it, so I have not decided if I am going to cancel it yet or not (I may teach next year, and then having it will be useful).

Anyway, I just went through everything and it's not that bad really.....but I figured others might have more things then me.

I'm still spending over $100 a month on comcast ($140 if you count the 40$ we pay as part of our home owners HOA fees).

That does include my internet though. $30 of that is the stupid DVR (you get a normal box for free, but not a second one, and you pay full price for the stupid DVR, so I'm paying $30 a month because I have the DVR).

I may get rid of that soon, which will bring the total down to about $110.

I can't avoid the $40 that is part of the HoA fees sadly, even if I got rid of everything else.

The internet is 30$ + 10$ (speed increase) + 10$ (modem rental). If I got my own modem that would go down as well, but I'm too lazy.

So with $50 for my internet, and $40 I can't get out of, I'm wasting about $50 right now on cable (not even sure how/why that is...I think most of it is taxes). I'm gonna go look atmy bill actually and see why it's so high.

Blah, yeah, I checked, nothing I can do really to cut back on the cost except get rid of the DVR which will drop it $30 a month. I'm gonna do that soon, it's just not needed since I can watch shows on demand anyway. Means watching comercials but big freaking deal.

I could pay for hulu and netflix for that $30 anyway (including no comercials on hulu), which I would probably use to watch most of them anyway.

Still gonna be over $100 though sigh, but nothing I can do about it.

Canceled DISH, Simpsons marathons were awesome but nothing I cant live without, that and the 4-6 months out of the year where there's something on AMC

We have internet BUT bought our own modem to avoid the monthly rental fee

Only thing I waste is data on my phone, have a 3gb plan and I dont come close to using half of that. Tried to dial it back to something lower, but the company said they dont offer those types of plans anymore

I don't spend much on subscriptions, my problem is spending money eating out instead of eating at home or bringing lunch to work. I spent like $3000 in the last 5 months eating out. That's $150 a week eating out. I've started to bring lunches to work now.

Garbage service is probably the main one. Part of me wants to cancel it because I only really produce 2 plastic shopping bags full of garbage a week, and I could just dump those off at the supermarket when I go shopping.

Other then that, I could probably reduce my spending but not without some major changes in my life.

Wow....just wow. I never thought about garbage service (I'm paying $40 dollars a month for mine!!).

I kinda vaguely thought after my wife passed away about reducing the size of the containers, but never bothered (I really should), but now that I think of it, by myself, I barely produce any garbage at all.

I could actually just cancel it, not need to worry about remembering to take out my garbage (every other freaking week!!), and just throw it out when I go shopping etc.

That could actually save me 40$ a month. I may just downgrade to the smallest size though (i'll check the cost), but thanks, this could save me some cash:)

I mostly waste money on eating out. I could do without it, but I just find it relaxing to eat out at least 4 times a week. I probably spend...about 400 USD monthly on this....
