The Shogunate forces far outnumbered the rebel armies in the Battle of Toba-Fushimi, but the samurai from Satsuma and Choshu brought modern weapons and backing from the empire. As the battle stalled despite the numbers advantage, those loyal to the shogunate begain to worry that not everyone claiming to support the shogun really did. Rumors began swirling that Enomoto Takeaki was actual a spy for the Imperial forces. The Shogunate army decided to force him to commit seppuku. He left a note urging the Shogunate forces to use his fleet to continue fighting, and everyone realized his loyalty.

Oddity has been lynched (again)! He was Enomoto Takeaki, TOWN Vanilla.

The next day, news broke that Katsu Kaishu, the negotiator between the Tokugawa Shogunate and the Choshu and Satsuma domains, was found dead in his home. The killer is unknown, but it is assumed that he was murdered by ronin from Choshu or Satsuma.

Tom Bombadil has been killed! He was Katsu Kaishu, TOWN Jailkeeper.

Furthermore, Matsudaira Katamori's younger brother Sadaaki, who had headed north to find reinforcements, instead met his demise.

Sir Chris has been killed! He was Matsudaira Sadaaki, TOWN Vanilla.

As many prominent supporters of the shogun drop like flies, the armies become discouraged, and more unrest grows amongst their ranks. The rebels take control of Kyoto and Osaka castle, and the Shogun is forced to retreat to Edo. The samurai of Choshu and Satsuma march towards Edo, and the Shinsengumi, along with others loyal to the Shogun, depart for Kofu to stymie their advance.

Okay. Here are some people I think look more badly after this.

SBell: Waffled yesterday and did not take strong stances. This seems like a likely attitude for someone who knew the lynch was town on town.
VI: Extremely passive, did not post nearly at all. Seems uncharacteristic.
Scare: Suspected by Chris for much of D1. Now Chris is dead.
Dowolf: Fighting Oddity lynch is maybe plus, but his language seemed to indicate to me he was planning to set me up after my D1 target Oddity was mislynched.
