I have something that really bothers me about Game of Thrones and bothered me ever since the very first episode..the very first scene

How did Will made it from behind the wall to Winterfell? could you just get back to the wall without the people you got out with and then get out to the south without anyone noticing? (at least not at first, as they did chase him at some point)
And did he run from the Wall to Winterfell on foot?
From the way he said that "I should have went back to the wall and warn them" it sounded like he didn't pass by the wall at all
And googling it is impossible because "Will" is more of a word than a name >_> (for generic characters at least)

somehow the series survived this massive break in integrity

Literally the very next scene after Jon arrives at the Wall, Catelyn says that she has prayed for Bran's recovery for over a month. So time definitely passes much faster than they let on.

yeah, i think the series would benefit a lot if characters made even passing allusions to how much time had actually passed between scenes

i'm able to infer it, but it seems many viewers have lost this ability. but as dowolf pointed out, the visual storytelling doesn't support this very well, either. so a verbal acknowledgement would be real nice, and not 'give me a fortnight.'

an example that would have been great - olenna talks about how cersei did things she couldn't imagine. she could have slipped in 'half a year ago' or 'a year ago.'

This is a show where each main character shows a bow like Katniss/Legolas. Just look at Arya in 1x01, or Grey Worm even in the most recent episode. The ballista is definitely hitting.

As a Ranger I assume Will just knew some of the secret passages through The Wall, like the one Sam used when he ran into Bran.

More likely he went straight through Castle Black, otherwise how did they even know he deserted? He came back like normal, then fucked off.

Really, you think it's either one sided of being overly affectionate or you just don't care about your child if they die? She obviously puts up a strong front but of course she's still gonna care about her if she dies. Come now, you're better than that.

That was one of the better episodes since season 4. After the shitty way Episode 2 ended, this was a welcome breath of fresh air. Things moved at a good pace, there was some solid foreshadowing (I loved Tyrion's "give me ten good men and I'll impregnate the bitch" callback right before Bronn showed back up).

There were actual conversations and the episode wasn't super predictable. The siege of Casterly Rock was great... yeah, Tyrion had a deus ex machina but that's fine because it meant that we didn't waste time there and could segue into the march on Highgarden. And the Iron Fleet being there makes perfect sense if we assume that Euron didn't sail his entire fleet to King's Landing just to deliver Ellaria.

Highgarden's siege only doesn't make sense on the front that it wasn't a siege. The Tyrells are very notable for being shrewd politically and having lots of money... they are often cited for being the weakest house militarily because historically they haven't had to be. It's not surprising that they jobbed to the strongest military house (along with the Tyrell's bannermen). I'm frankly astounded at the people in this topic who wanted them to waste time on a battle where we knew the outcome easily. Also, the lack of time spent on it was better cinematography.

Ellaria made perfect sense this episode. Her key defining character trait is her love for her family. That is 98% of her character.

Jon and Tyrion don't have the same chemistry that Tyrion/Bronn had, and that's why it's so great. Both recognize that Tyrion is a talker. Jon is not, but he understands Tyrion and doesn't need a different rapport with him.

I didn't watch the trailer for the season, but the Fields of Fire thing you're mentioning has to be this next episode. Dany has no choice but to use her dragons and dothraki now.

I know you're a Greyjoy fan, but that naval battle was shit. "oh look, very predictable thing with very predictable outcome".

It sucked because of how obvious it all was. The only worthwhile part of it was getting to explore Euron's character a bit more.

It was a necessary scene but it's been coming for ages so it was annoying because it's so predictable.
