There are three black men in the top 10 highest grossing actors alone.

And you only named one of them, which is Freeman.

It made around $440 million worldwide, IIRC. Second-lowest MCU outing. I think the rank above it was like $90-100 million more, too.

3/10, which is 30%. Which is disproportionate to percentage the race actually makes up, so...

And actually, when you add Smith and Washington, who you named on your own admission, that's 5 already.

I'm actually more interested in how Ant-Man 2 will do. Does it actually go up? I don't know the metrics of how many people watched Ant-Man on Netflix or how that type of viewing will have an effect on a box office number. It's so different from the days of DVDs.

I don't really think that's a good metric, since people that got big lately aren't likely to be very high. And that would skew white, since there are a lot more long-history'd white actors than black for obvious reasons.

Okay, so you gotta go down to #66 to get 10 black people if you don't count The Rock and Vin Diesel, if going purely by gross.

Samuel L Jackson
Morgan Freeman
Eddie Murphy
Will Smith
Don Cheadle
(Vin Diesel)
(The Rock)
Zoe Saldana
Idris Elba
Tyrese Gibson
Laurence Fishburne
Denzel Washington

Which is about on par almost perfectly with the race percentage

That said, I wonder how they score it overall. Like, it feels like Tyler Perry should be a lot higher, for instance.

And then gross is going to knock out people like Kevin Hart who got big more lately moving from a different career to acting, and then doesn't give more recent people like Michael B. Jordan and Anthony Mackie a shot, etc. Also kicks out people who were big ten+ years ago but slowed down, like Ice Cube and Martin Lawrence, etc.

Also, not to go way back, but that 150 million for Black Panther is the same budget as a movie about a guy who's named Ant Man, who hadn't already had a popular and well received large role in a huge movie.

And 50 million lower than, and it pains me as a person to say this, literally Green Lantern.

Well, right. What I mean is that gross isn't the best metric for who is a "superstar," not that it'd have an effect on the gross list itself.

Like, would you say Kevin Hart and Ice Cube are not superstars?

They used the well deserved popularity of the GL comics at the and thought that would translate to the big screen. Which is just....the dumbest shit. Also it sucked. So yeah that budget was likely inflated beyond sensibility, and none of it shows so it was probably all fucking pocketed by the execs or something.

I'm interested in how big GLC's budget will be.
